spent a fortune in town as predicted but got some bargains.

Cagliostro · 25/08/2017 15:08

Oh gawd does that mean I might have to pay more too? The bill included a few quid for something like 'customs deposit'

OP posts:
Laska5772 · 25/08/2017 15:18

Hopefully nor Cag ,but i have had to pay around £18 before on vat and £11 std charge to postoffice for customs . It doesnt always happen though. Fingers xd for you.
Hmm Friday pm and our work network has just crashed.. Its telling me somthing important about home time isnt it? Wink

Laska5772 · 25/08/2017 15:20

I spent £50 on m&s food lunch time as a bank hol treat.. but just realised ive forgotten to buy any cheese for the salad..

SunnyLikeThursday · 25/08/2017 17:53

Cag this comparison site shows the cost of a given item in all the different amazon sites internationally. I've found it useful for expensive technology things like a camera lens I bought once. It turned out that Amazon France was cheapest that time.

www.curiua.com

I've also bought things from amazon.com and it just takes longer and involves customs charges, which can be quite high. Sorry if I'm cross posting with others, I haven't quite read all the way back.

I just made £7 selling something on ebay.

WreckTangled · 25/08/2017 18:03

I'm back. Was a good day apart from twatty southern on the way back. Meh.

Going to goodwood tomorrow. Might try win some money 😂

Cagliostro · 25/08/2017 18:04

Oh I didn't even think about other country amazons! Two of the games were suddenly down to $10ish each though and someone posted on the (USA-based) gameschooling group I'm on. I got all overexcited 😂 I would've got a couple more that were cheaper but that ended up at £70 so I couldn't really justify that (and don't have enough in my pocket money book!)

£20 sainsburys, some picnic stuff and some treaty things to make a pudding with tomorrow 😍

OP posts:
CremeEggThief · 25/08/2017 18:14

£31.50 waxing ( half leg, bikini line, eyebrow and top lip) and £3.73 on stationery/postage.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/08/2017 18:27

Customs might not be interested, it's not an item the hmrc has lost lots of tax on ie if you bought a case of bourbon they'd charge you duty.

£8 homebargains & £3 morrisons, stocked up on cleaning stuff I can't get elsewhere.

£88 two week shop at Waitrose. Just need to top up bread & possibly potatoes or chips.

£7 profit matched betting.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/08/2017 18:32

While I think on those of you who scout. I can't remember who it was. Mountain warehouse and millets (Not sure about the other out door stores but worth an ask) give 10% off to scout members.

SnugglySnerd · 25/08/2017 19:05

It was gin for me. I still can't stomach it more than 20 years on!

Pleased DD is feeling a little better Seacow.

Have had a really lovely day. Do you remember how anxious I was about coping with all 3 dcs over the summer hols? I have to admit that I'm now a bit sad it's coming to an end and DD will be at nursery and not here every day! On the plus side I might get some housework done...

ememem84 · 25/08/2017 19:19

snuggly oh I love gin. Giny giny gin.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 25/08/2017 19:24

Hi all spend day here, been to a local discount village place and had to endure the hell that was Clarks to get dds school shoes!! She must have tried on at least a million pairs and I almost got to breaking point when she found some that felt 'alright' so I quickly bought them Grin actually her dgrandad paid for them (would have been £23.)

Also got her some wellies which were £15 (last pair had fallen to bits) and some Vans which were £38, they look very cool though and am hoping will last quite a while....

Got myself a Joules top for £9.95, will be nice for Autumn.

£3.50 on underwear and £3 parking.

Dd is off at her Grandads for five days which I am feeling a bit sad about, she had a wobble just before she went which didn't help Sad I know she will be fine and get totally spoilt but still feel guilty. Starting a five day work stretch from tomos - ugh.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/08/2017 20:55

Taboo and mirage. Camping trip on a beach. Ugh

HollyTheHarrier · 25/08/2017 21:11

Checking back in. Busy busy busy week, and very expensive. Paid for a holiday, blinds and a wardrobe and I've been all over the place with work. Hoping to get straight over the bank holiday and back on the frugal wagon!

I love radio 4 (old before my time). It's my favourite thing about decorating and long car journeys - opportunity to listen to radio 4 for ages. I also love gin.

Well done to your daughter need. Great results. You have to learn the hard way with drinking don't you.
sunny glad your volunteering in the lab went well.
life sorry about the job. That's really bad luck
Em loved those cupcakes 😍
Sorry to everyone whose news I've forgotten already.

Doing my first triathlon tomorrow. Hopefully a low ish spend day. But we'll see

LonelyOversharer · 25/08/2017 21:36

Oooh holly good luck with the tri!

Ugh, Drambuie is mine. Such a pity as I loved it. Ugh. Christmas day at sea. The 3/E came and woke me up for watch, I was asleep wrapped round my toilet. I didn't live it down for a while.

Snap girlie dd3 got the lace ups. As Scotland went back to school last week Gretna was quite quiet, but the outlet is such a scrum. £25.

£99 in sketchers, 3x trainers and school shoes for ds. 2 pairs had 30% off.

£45 Mountain Warehouse. All for me. £28 sports direct, the brigtest tshirt I could find (eye searing pink) and shorts to skate in.

£12 in subway, a try out as never had one - success! dd1 and 3 loved it. £6.50 costa, necessary purchase. Both have cashbook via my current account. £3 thorntons ice cream for ds.

LonelyOversharer · 25/08/2017 22:02

Shit! Just spent £250 in the amazon.

Identical school shoes for dd1 (hush puppies), and a new tablet for me. Plus a case for that and my new phone.

Think I'm going to turn my wifi off for tonight!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 26/08/2017 07:04

Good luck today Holly, I'm in awe of people who get up and do triathlons and things at the weekend Grin
We had a cheap day yesterday, spent the full day at the zoo and only bought a can of coke and some jelly for DS.
We're aiming for a NSD today as we're staying at home to start some work clearing our garden (it looks like something from Jumanji) so fingers crossed we won't have the opportunity to near any shops! And I'll be avoiding Amazon! Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/08/2017 07:15

Good luck Holly.

Footy subs today. £60.
£20 hype on a school bag for dd
£35 on bike stuff for dh but I'll get cash back bonus too

If anyone is shopping over the weekend top cashback have a bonus deal for spending more than £10.
Having to step away from matalan as their Christmas range is out and there is much excitement on the thread. Although I started mine yesterday.

Ordered ds birthday cake as the one he has picked is too much for me. £30 or there about.

WreckTangled · 26/08/2017 07:34

The cat keeps scratching my new bed Angry

mammymammyIRL · 26/08/2017 07:39

I just can't get a chance to catch up with ye, maybe I'll just go from this post onwards. Welcome to new people, waves to all my friends here, have a great weekend Grin

Two bills came in yesterday electric down to €133 for two months Grin
Diesel bill €48.32 using fuel card saved me €1.68 on tank is interest free & I get up to 3 weeks credit, billing is twice a month Smile

Our boilers been on the blink for a month now so no heating while is fine but only solar panels for hot water. Turns out replacement part can't be sourced so dh is gone to buy a second hand complete boiler for just €100 this morning. Part would be £300+vat.

We got tax back of almost €2k paying for boiler repair, property tax & dividing remainder between us, mine is going against my cc bill.

Going to visit a friend today with a 3 week old, she now has 4 under 6 Shock
Having three boys I don't think she needs baby clothes so I'm donating all my cloth nappies & buying them food in Aldi Smile

ememem84 · 26/08/2017 08:18

holly good luck!!!! I'm not a runner or a cyclist or much or a swimmer if I'm honest - so could never dream of doing a tri but am in awe of those who can.

Hooray for Saturday and a bank holiday weekend!

Dh is up early to watch the rugby. I'm in bed with tea and toast. Out for second breakfast later...

Told dh this morning I want to name baby boy "Winter" not only is Winter a traditional jersey boys name (along with the likes of hedley or helier or snowdon...) we could then say "winter has arrived" "winter is coming" like game of thrones. He's not going for it. back to sensible names then....

HollyTheHarrier · 26/08/2017 08:30

Thanks all! I think I might come last based on last year's results, but it's the taking part that counts right 😅

Em I love the idea of saying "winter is coming" when the baby is on its way 😂 Can't believe your dh said no

rosie my garden is a state too, been battling with it since I moved here two months ago. Finally getting the lawn under control but it's not in good condition, all brown patches. Does anyone know how to rescue a lawn like that or will I have to re turf? Really hoping I won't!

Loveabaconsandwich · 26/08/2017 08:41

Good luck holly

I bought my first ever item from boden yesterday. Not sure if it will fit or if I will even like it but they have good returns. £21

Finally got my first survey through from e-rewards. I don't think my account had originally set up properly. Thanks for the tip to join fuffy

Happy B/H weekend frugaleers!

lonely what tablet did you get? And I was Shock that you had never been to subway before!

Loveabaconsandwich · 26/08/2017 08:54

fluffy I just had 250 nectar points to redeem for no points (free) on e-rewards. Guessing it's due to being a new account but might be worth a check?
