Back to work today. I slept without covers last night. Still roasting. It looks like it rained overnight though.

14 days left of work this year. Eeek! Cannot believe how quickly this has come round.

Doubt it'll be an nsd today. We're low on lunch stuff so will have to buy a sandwich unless I can rustle something up.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2017 07:13

That's good need. Enjoy the bed too yourself. Grin
It can be more expensive to bake but I really don't like the chemically taste in shop stuff. Speaking of which gbbo is back tonight. Do I watch it? Kind of have to really to see how much it has or hasn't been ruined.
Friend will get there but it's just shit for them. It was all brought back last week so they relived it again.

WreckTangled · 29/08/2017 07:19

Thanks everyone Smile

We're going to the beach today as dh is off work Shock will be £7 parking Angry we will take a picnic but probably buy an ice cream. Will also take dds kite.

We're running out of sun cream but I'm pretty sure this is the last hurrah and I don't want to buy anymore when we won't need it again...

ememem84 · 29/08/2017 08:00

life I'm debating watching it. I love the show but am afraid it won't be the same....although reviews so far have been good.

A local parish show here advertised a couple of weeks ago the "great jersey bake off" judged by Mary berry. So many people were excited and I thought about entering. However. Not the real MB. I mean not the tv one anyway. Just a local lady with the same name. Not so excited now...!

Must take boots to post office today so I can get my refund. Due about £130 back in total from dune and joules.

Tonight's jobs are:

  • laundry
  • pack hospital bag just in case and make sure I have everything
  • make list for boots shop tomorrow to make sure we have stuff in should we need it
  • bag up charity shop clothes
  • eBay maternity stuff - not all
  • list for the coop
  • sort money with dh - work out how much mortgage contribution I'll need to make etc while off.
lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2017 08:16

I know em. That's what I think

Taytocrisps · 29/08/2017 08:38

Didn't get a minute to post all weekend. DD started secondary school yesterday. The first day went well. They were split into their class groups and got their books and were shown how to use their lockers. Then they played some ice breaker games. They just had one actual class - Irish. The metal work teacher also gave them a talk about health and safety. Two of her friends are in her class so she was happy about that.

They had the school to themselves yesterday. There are some other years back today and the entire school will be back by Wednesday.

I thought I'd bought everything DD needs for school but it turns out she needs some hard back notebooks and goggles for metalwork.

NSD yesterday

I'm meeting a friend for coffee today so that will be a few €. I'm also going to meet DD after school and buy her a tea or soup or something before her dance class. There won't be time to come home in between the two because secondary school finishes later than primary school

Cagliostro · 29/08/2017 08:39

I've never watched GBBO. It would make me too hungry and jealous because I am crap at baking! Hopefully when we move and have a big freezer (and an oven that actually keeps its temperature Hmm) I will become one of those organised people who has big rolls of cookie dough etc ready to chop and bake. But I need to learn to bake first :o

That's so funny em about Mary Berry! Like in Vicar of Dibley when they get Reg Dwight to open the fair as they think he's Elton John. Can't believe it's a month now - I had early October in my head but I guess that's not much further away anyway!

Aww tayto how exciting, I'm glad it went well. I think it's nice that they give the new intake a chance to take it all in without the other years, my school did similar. Sadly having yet more stuff to buy seems par for the course as you suddenly have to get all these extra folders (I remember proudly getting off the bus in town instead of staying on until home, to go to Smiths and choose nice stationery!) not to mention wrapping paper and sticky back plastic to cover all our textbooks :o

Taking both DC to the dentist this morning. It's little DDs first time so is meant to be just opening mouth and sitting in the chair appointment, but concerned about her front tooth so do need the dentist to look at it. NHS so free.

Really want a NSD

WreckTangled · 29/08/2017 10:27

Hello from witterings

The Friendly Frugaleers, watching the pennies as we wait for sunshine!
Cagliostro · 29/08/2017 10:57

I keep meaning to go to witterings, lots of HE friends go there and I keep seeing lovely photos Envy

So I don't have gestational diabetes - yet! Sugars were slightly high so MW is referring me, and I'll probably have to use one of those testing kits for a few weeks and possibly yet more extra scans. This is a very high maintenance pregnancy :o

That's annoying cag I would recommend low carbing and no carbs between meals.

Laska5772 · 29/08/2017 11:51

EnvyWreck I am in sweltering office...

Laska5772 · 29/08/2017 11:54

Looks great eh?

ememem84 · 29/08/2017 12:58

Just been out for sandwiches. £3-15 for 2 baguettes for dh and me. Yum.

It's hot out there. Am thoroughly enjoying the icy cold air conditioning in the office though. So gooooood.

cag good news recently gestational diabetes.

I forgot my parcel. Sigh. Must remember tomorrow.

SunnyLikeThursday · 29/08/2017 13:00

I went to the lab again today and did the most slap-dash mad-scientist attempt to mix up growth media. I'm not sure that being rushed combines very well with doing biochemistry stuff correctly. I did manage to make something plausible so I'm crossing my fingers now.

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2017 13:05

Well that was expensive - £87 for school shoes, £61 for trainers, £15 coat and £3 parking. Rounded off with £7.40 in the chip shop for lunch.
£10 top up for DD phone
This afternoon will mostly be housework and looking fr a new mobile deal for the three of us.

LonelyOversharer · 29/08/2017 13:34

My new tablet is here! It feels very big and clunky after using my phone for so long.

Exciting em really not long to go now. I bet you go into labour bang on time. Not waddle about for 2 extra weeks like some of us!

Have an emergency dental appt tomorrow as my filling (and some tooth) has come out of the newly root canalled one. Ugh. Have stuffed some filling saver putty stuff in the hole. Will try to get dd2's school trousers in the same town as they have a big marksies and next there. Then we shall be done with back to school.

Just spent £18 in the coop on bits for lunch. So much. But we're at the shop and no food here at all for once. Really need the dc back to school and to routine again. Frugalling all the way to Christmas!

SnugglySnerd · 29/08/2017 14:38

Life how many children does £87 buy school shoes for? Am dreading how much it's going to cost for 3!

NSD. Weather has changed here. It's cold and drizzling.

WreckTangled · 29/08/2017 14:44

Two for me snuggly.

Just enjoying a beer at the harbour

ememem84 · 29/08/2017 15:26

lonely that's what I'm hoping for. My birthday is 4 days after my due date. As long as baby doesn't arrive then I'll be happy. he's going to arrive on my birthday isn't he?

I'm also hoping for a fairly fast labour. My mum was in hospital in active labour for 3 hours with me and 2 with my sister. Midwife said that "they" believe that there can be a genetic correlation re labour times but nothing's been studied officially.

A friend was actively in labour for about an hour before her dd popped out. She said I don't want a quick one as the shock is immense. As I understand it giving birth is probably one of (if not) the most traumatic thing your body can go through. So being a bit shocked by it all is fairly normal. I'm still trying to block the giving birth part out of my mind.

Loveabaconsandwich · 29/08/2017 16:02

Just been trying to stealthily get our beach stuff together incase DP gets home soon to go out for a beach evening. No sign of him yet but the DC haven't noticed me gathering beach stuff. Sun is now disappearing too Sad

I was going to say proper frugaleering will return after pay day this week. But I may scrap that until we're all back to school/work next Wednesday as it seems impossible!

Flowers for all the big shoe bills frugaleers

Glad DD had a good first day tayto

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2017 16:32

Snuggly 2 but size 2&4. Dd size 4 is from the "adult" school shoe range. FFS. Unfortunately we have to get what will fit. Ironically enough with the £5 off trainer offer the shoe shop was no more expensive than sports direct for trainers. Lesson learned for next time as I would also get loyalty points (Charles clinkard if you have one near)

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/08/2017 16:34

School shoes is one of my prepared to pay the money for.
