What about mango kids? (Online only here) they're very similar to H&M. So cute.

ememem84 · 24/08/2017 14:38

Never thought of that... will see if they deliver!

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/08/2017 14:53

£50 on ds party deposit.

Now need to sort invites and cakes etc al. Crafty frugaleers do you think it will be easy to make edible nerf bullets. I'm thinking they may end up looking rude dirty mind

Pricing up dd party £120 for hot tub hire for the weekend.

Never have DC birthday a week apart it's bankrupting.

Laska5772 · 24/08/2017 15:12

HI all, just caught up.

Welcome Lily.. we are a friendly chatty bunch..

Well done needs DD!! brilliant results..

Also well done Em for standing up to horrible neighbour, and glad she is going to move out, sounds a nightmare..

and so sorry Life .. Rubbish news , going for own job is so dreadful, I had to do that a while ago , only 'my' job had suddenly 'lost' a grade in the restructure along with a couple of £K..I got it as I was the only candidate ( but still had to formally apply and interview with all the stress that took ) But I have never really been into it inthe same way ever since... (but am now counting down - only 16 weeks until I leaveif I can stand it that long) .

So its been a sad week for us here , the funeral on monday was really emotional and we are all feeling down about loss of two such dear family members in such as short time. There has now been a date set for the next funeral but thats a couple of weeks yet ( seems a long time , but then perhaps its because its London? )

Its also been a £££ week travelling, staying over etc..but I have also been naughty Hush shopping! . Need will know aboutthat because she reads the S&B threads.. I did need something black though.. but not all the other things that were'nt black .perhaps i was shopping tocheer myself up.. ( not good - but then its come out of savings)

As well as that i bought a new toaster! .. but weve had our oldone over 10 years and it only had two settings left - uncooked or burnt .

Good news is that the sciatica has eased off a lot this last week - .. fingers crossed it continues to do so ..

WreckTangled · 24/08/2017 15:21

Life I reckon you can do it. I think the orange ends need to be the same size as the blue shaft snigger rather than slightly wider in order for it not to look dodgy.

Laska sorry you're having a tough time

Laska5772 · 24/08/2017 15:26

Am just cheering myself up with a cup of tea and a slice of Christmas cake!!.. Yes really . I found that there was still over a third of last years cake left wrapped up in a cupboard last weekend ..It was made last October and has matured wonderfully!

ememem84 · 24/08/2017 15:42

laksa oooh I love a Christmas cake. Dm makes ours. All cinamony black treacle cherry oozy boozy goodness. One slice and you feel about 20kg heavier and over the limit.

Laska5772 · 24/08/2017 15:50

Yes ours is always more fruit, nuts, eggs, butter, booze, ground almonds, spices etc than flour!
I always put in tons of cherries and apricots as well as the 'usual cake fruit' . its actually based on an old Cranks recipe called 'boiled fruit cake'! But you dont boil it! - only heat up the fruit in the liquid booze and sugar first and let it cool.. (then add more booze!!) . The original recipe - being Cranks - was quite virtuous

Cagliostro · 24/08/2017 16:43

Right, who bet what on the Cagletini scan result?

It's definitely a girl :o :o :o

SnugglySnerd · 24/08/2017 17:19

Welcome Lily.

Many congrats to Need's dd. Amazing results.

My yr11s did ok on the whole. Quite pleased considering I wasn't there for revision classes etc.

I said girl Cag! Not long to go now really!

Spendy day. Had lunch out and ice creams. Too much ice cream this week!

ememem84 · 24/08/2017 17:28

Yay cag great news!!!

Finally out of work. Yay now for dinner. Double yay!!

ememem84 · 24/08/2017 17:38

In the car waiting for dh. Listening to radio 2.

Apparently it's national burger day. Two topical songs they've played (I love these). Oasis - roll with it.

And now playing that song by the crash test dummies "once there was a kid who...." took me ages to work out what it's called. Had to Shazam it. Song is called "mmmmm mmmmm mmmmmm". Genius.

Wonder what song 3 will be....

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/08/2017 17:53

Need Congratulations to your DD. Fantastic results when the grades have fallen overall according to the news.

Lily Welcome.

Cag Finally! A new DD

NSD.

Loveabaconsandwich · 24/08/2017 17:53

Yay baby girl cag Smile

Welcome lily

On my way home and I don't have to go to work again until 6th Sept Grin ! My boss agreed some deputising money for doing my colleagues work yesterday and last week. It's pennies but more the principle really.

£4.60 in McDonald's
£1.50 on yoghurt and pastry

I need to join back in the reducing the frittering with the rest of you. Summer holidays don't count right? But the frugaleering needs to be returned to as we seem to have spent all the money we saved last month

Loveabaconsandwich · 24/08/2017 17:54

Well done need DD. You were definitely allowed to be proud and cry

northender · 24/08/2017 18:05

Hi all! Quick post from the ferry home Sad
Wifi has been patchy to say the least while we were away. Had a fabulous time with mostly great weather, not looking forward to getting home.
Yay for your dd's GCSE results need, fantastic. Ds got a 6 in his English Lit which the whole of y10 did a year early. He's disappointed and I'm sure could have done better but I'm hoping it will act as a wake up call to him for y11.
I'll read back more fully over the next day or two. Have I missed any big news?

Laska5772 · 24/08/2017 18:26

Yay! I said girl!

So its Caglitina then?

CremeEggThief · 24/08/2017 18:26

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/08/2017 22:09

R4 is where it's at.

You & yours, moral maze, money box, david sedaris monologues, Bill nighy in "a private affair".

Dh calls it radio snore.
