Fridge no one minds, honestly. Sometimes I post loads and other times I don't. I don't think anyone even notices Grin

CremeEggThief · 04/08/2017 12:34

I've been meaning to ask if anyone's heard anything of Collie? When Laska said she'd come back to the thread after an absence, it jogged my memory.

Cagliostro · 04/08/2017 13:00

Of course we were happy to see you back laska :o

Indeed fridge this is a super fast moving thread and it can be tricky to read through it all let alone comment back to everyone. But everyone is lovely and understanding and nobody has ever kicked me out when I've been too overwhelmed to respond to others while posting my frugal woes! Thanks

I haven't seen Collie for aaaaages :(

On way to workshop now. DS has already declared he's not joining in :o (new = nope) but thought we may as well give it a go. It's only cost £10 for travel (the workshop itself was already paid for). Had a reasonably good morning catching up with laundry and doing HE stuff - particular progress with DD as she was actually happily writing by hand! Shock

ememem84 · 04/08/2017 13:17

Me neither come back collie

fridge don't be silly. You don't need to catch up with us all. Post however you like!

I didn't go to feel unique. Dh wouldn't let me. Haha! He said I don't need it he's right and maybe the birthday fairies will buy it for my birthday.

Laska5772 · 04/08/2017 13:29

Some spends : £15.70 at the farmers market on some local honey on the comb and a lovely scented rose to take to friends later. .. £1.70 - reduced price- on my fav m&s spicy oriental chicken broth for lunch ( I am addicted to this stuff!)

Cagliostro · 04/08/2017 15:43

Waiting for bus back from workshop. DS decided after 5 minutes that he would join in :o and they both had lots of fun doing physics stuff. Feeling wobbly now though and getting lots of cramps twinges (nothing scary just ligaments stretching ugh). But very glad we went.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/08/2017 15:54

Wasn't Collie finally moving and it wasn't very frugal so she was having a break.
Well done on going cag.
Use the thread however you want fridge, we can cope with being used just for posting spends.

thewaitresses · 04/08/2017 15:58

I love reading everyone's posts, the detailed to the short and sweet!

Well done to your ds cag! You do manage to find some amazing HE stuff going on.

£23 in Aldi and £8.50 in soft play. I did use a 241 voucher and have snuck in some pombears and water Blush!

I really need a LSWeekend.

WreckTangled · 04/08/2017 18:01

I've gone downhill again. I've got one of my closest friends surprise birthday party tomorrow evening Sad

Cagliostro · 04/08/2017 19:04

Oh no wreck hope you feel better again ASAP!

Spends today £7 greggs

Lasagne in oven, only a ready meal one but I didn't realise it can't be microwaved. And I'm a twit so I forgot to note what time I put it in! Fail! Will do some veg with it shortly.

Super excited as we had decided to try tunbridge wells tomorrow on the bus - DH has taken the Caglets before but I stayed home - and I just saw on FB that their shopping centre currently has huge animatronic dinosaurs in it! DD will be ecstatic, going to leave it as a surprise.

Wheelycote · 04/08/2017 19:36

A no spend day finally!!! Grin

Loveabaconsandwich · 04/08/2017 19:37

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/08/2017 19:48

Hi all struggling to keep up as been so busy here, am having a nightmare with my car Sad its got more problems with its brakes so have decided enough is enough and there is no point throwing good money after bad. Plan is to get a new car, have found one that seems to fit the bill so going to look at it tomos. Am gutted really as although I needed a new car was hoping this one would do me a few months at least, plus am meant to be going on holiday on Monday at am currently car less!!!

Any suggestions on where to look for credit cards? Will need to put about £2500 on one....

WreckTangled · 04/08/2017 19:52

Girlie moneysavingexpert always has advice on which credit card is best. Also if you go on moneysupermarket that'll let you know the likelihood of being accepted for each one.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/08/2017 20:42

Not sure i dare total up today.
£60 matalan, £8.60 prescription, £104.odd sainsbury, £1 boots, £37 primark, £12 boots, £27 Iceland, £1 superdrug, £47 Aldi, £15 cleaner
Eeek. Some regular spends, some not.

Next week will be small food top up and usual gym, activities.

HollyTheHarrier · 04/08/2017 20:59

Thanks need and laska for thoughts on meters. I think I'll go for it. I was quite generous in my estimate of my own usage and it still saved a lot, and I could get a water butt for the garden which I like the idea of anyway.

need marathon training is going ok ish. I'm doing all my long runs but struggling to get the frequency because of just being so busy all the time. just trying to do what I can at the moment.

Wreck what's the compensation from covea about? Get well soon

Moving is almost by definition not frugal, whoever mentioned that 😬 Although that said I'm trying hard to pay someone to build me a shed but no-one seems very interested!

The last week has been pretty spendy. Some house stuff including two stools for the breakfast bar. Two lots of wedding presents too, and booking a hotel for one of the weddings. In frugal news, visiting my parents this weekend and they've said I can have their old lawnmower as long as it still works, so that saves me buying one.

Happy weekend everyone!

HollyTheHarrier · 04/08/2017 21:00

Ooh and I've switched energy supplier. I'm now with bulb, who I hadn't heard of but they were cheapest and also use green energy where possible. Anyone else use them?

CremeEggThief · 04/08/2017 21:39

I've never heard of them, Holly. Are they are new company?

I hope you feel better soon, Wreck. Perhaps if you can rest most of tomorrow and Sunday, you might be ok for a few hours at the surprise party tomorrow night?

I second the eligibility checker on MSN, Girlie. Great tool.

So nobody's heard from Collie then? I'd love to 'see' her back.

£2.74 on milk, bread and doughnuts from Asda.

Laska5772 · 04/08/2017 21:47

girlie another recommend for moneysavingexpert on credit cards. You shoul be able to get 0% for that amount
Just dont use it for anything else after and it will be a cheap loan.
At friends have claimed tiredness after a few Wine and retreated to bed . Left DH to socialiseSmile.

Laska5772 · 04/08/2017 21:51

Actually think i might be one of those people( and I think there are lots if us here onMn) who are actually quite happy not socialising in RL but really like chatting online to like minded people. Smile

Laska5772 · 04/08/2017 21:53

What would we do without internet?
Btw ive noticed also that I tend to post in threes!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 04/08/2017 22:07

Thanks have had a look on MSE, M&S do a credit card which is 0% for 2 years plus you get a £50 voucher and a few other perks. So anyway applied for that, put all my details in (including bank details) and it didn't go through - the last tiny bit of my will to live evaporated and I gave up!!

On the plus news my dad has said I can borrow his car for next week which is a huge fecking relief!! The car I am going to look at tomos is a Toyota Aygo, its very little but only 3 years old and minimal millage so in theory should be perfect, we will see... its nearly 5 grand though Shock

ememem84 · 04/08/2017 22:36

Dh was late picking me up. I had a work thing and we agreed he'd pick me up at 6. So I left my thing. And waited outside. And waited. And waited. And waited. Eventually called him thinking maybe traffic but he hadn't left work yet. Sigh. I ended up having to walk all the way to the other end of town to the car. His work was 10 minutes away from the car. eventually got home at 7 when it should have been just after 6.

Quicker for me to walk to the car than wait for him to leave and drive to get me because traffic.

Spends today £23 in Waitrose on appletiser, crisps, humous, rocket, cream cheese, bacon bread milk and eggs.

Smoked salmon pasta for dinner.

Now in bed with catface. She's essentially on my pillow. We've discovered a new trick. If we rub her head ever so gently from right between her eyes to the back of her head she falls asleep.

northender · 04/08/2017 22:39

I miss Collie too. I loved her seasonal activity lists. I've PMed her a couple of times in the past so maybe I'll message her over the weekend.
Have a great holiday Need, hope you get plenty of relaxation time.
Girlie cars can be such a nightmare, hope you get sorted.

We applied for a Halifax CC a couple of weeks ago for our holiday spending. It was rejected due to a mistake on the online application. It's only now that we have realised that our Nationwide CC gives us fee free payments abroad and our Flexplus current account allows us to withdraw fee free Euros abroad so we didn't need the Halifax card anyway!
Busy weekend ahead, will try to stay frugal.

WreckTangled · 05/08/2017 01:16

Girlie I had one of those as my courtesy car. It would have been great if it hadn't been automatic!

Holly they were just really shit with my car accident claim and made mistakes like didn't call me back when I originally called which they said they would, then when I called said they were about to close so couldn't help me and then sent my car to the wrong garage which was miles away!

I'm up feeling awful. I think I've gone over my allowed paracetamol dose.
