Well done on the win 100

I agree with pp laksa. If it's not the weight it will be something else so it might as well be the weight. Prepare your comebacks now.
I ended up doing a Lakeland order and paid the £3 postage.

Aside from seeing people to chat what would you get out of the workshop?

needastrongone · 03/08/2017 21:31

Laska. Not an 'outing' post at all I don't think. And it sounds like there's something about this friend that makes you feel defensive and that she's been critical and that's her, not you. You are fabulous, smile, drink wine and be the fabulous you that you are Flowers

Re work. I work varied hours. Some weeks about 14, many weeks pretty full time, mostly circa 25 at a guess at my average. Honestly, most stuff is in my name and anything that isn't is joint. I could screw DH over big time, but never ever would. I know that's not fashionable here on MN (either way) but I do all of the money and finance so it's practical.

You have a point though Laska about the company having an emotional value that being an employee just doesn't and I do feel that, but it's DH's baby really. Working there allows me an understanding of the company, how hard he works and just how technically good he is, plus the emotional investment we make. We are so incredibly lucky that it's got to the stage where I think it will always give us a living. We thought we would sell when we decided to retire, but I think we'd retain a stake and maintain our income.

I've no doubt I would be just as busy not working as working. I'll think and chat as I think here if that's okay?

Meadow You can really do this! You are nearly there. I honestly think that you are so much further forward than you might think. Your concerns are normal and understandable but you are coping so bloody well!

Wrecked Glad you are feel a bit better

100 Ye-ha to the win, brill stuff!

Seacow I'm glad the day was better. Cafe sounds lovely. I spent quite a bit of frivolous money getting out and about when the DC were little. I'm a busy person and needed to be out of the house every day. Cafe and cake sounds perfect.

Em I don't think you sound shallow for thinking of buying clothes after DS is born. I think when we have a child, there's a massive risk of losing yourself to motherhood. Buying some lovely stuff and retaining 'you' is a good and positive thing.

ps Em, the heat palette is amazing and the only one I'm taking away.

Spends.
£70 petrol, Empty tank.
£7 photos DS
£12 Pony feed and chicken stuff.
£10 amazon.

I went to the track today and did an hours circuit track tonight. Getting used to doing 2 sessions a day and coping. Getting up early to do a long run and then a Metafit class later.

ememem84 · 03/08/2017 22:09

NEED don't. Stop enabling. I want the heat pallet. Want. Maybe I'll put it on my "lovely things to buy your still preggo wife/lovely things to buy the mother of your son" list for birthday gifts from dh. I think this year I'm allowed to be demanding. I'll either be overdue and fed up or just had baby and be well babied out! My birthday is 4 days after my due date.

I've been super good though and haven't even been into feel unique to have a look at it in real life. I know they have it. There's a sign I walk past every day....

needastrongone · 03/08/2017 22:22

em, DD saved her birthday money and bought the ABH Subculture palette, which is also a thing of beauty. Not my colours (not that brave) but I can appreciate how lovely it is.

Did I tell you all that DD had her septum pierced. DH didn't speak to her for 3 days....

I'm more about allowing things (within reason!) because the idea of something being forbidden makes it more desirable.

HollyTheHarrier · 03/08/2017 23:07

Hi all, just quickly read a few pages to try to catch up. Sorry I can't remember everyone's news. Much sympathy to those who are poorly or struggling with kids or anything else 💐

laska and need such huge decisions about giving up work. Agree with the advice someone gave not to make any decisions when stressed or exhausted.

meadow this is a pretty stressful time, if you can get through this you can handle anything 😊 Good luck

I'm looking into switching to a water meter. Online estimates seem to suggest I would save even if I was a heavy user, which I'm not. And it would be good for the environment if it encourages me to save water. Has anyone gone from fixed rate to metered water?

100yearsdotcom · 04/08/2017 00:51

Thanks again everyone! The win is lovely as it will encourage me to be kind to myself whilst still being frugal. It's really cheered me up too as I'd been having a tough week.

Wheelycote · 04/08/2017 06:33

Morning all

hoping for a no spend day.

Have a good day everyone and if your going out take your Brollies Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/08/2017 06:53

One step at a time meadow, you will get there.

Em, no not selfish. Your body changes after children do what suited you before may not then.

Muse away need. Sometimes we need the input of others who have no emotional attachment to the situation to see the whole picture.

Spendy day today. Holiday planning/shopping, travel money. Food shop as fridge is bare. I'm being eaten out of house and home. Gym tonight.

WreckTangled · 04/08/2017 07:11

Food shopping being delivered today. They sent me a £10 off voucher so is about £72.

Loveabaconsandwich · 04/08/2017 07:27

Well done 100 on the win. And so good that you can treat yourself!

laska enjoy the trip to Lakeland. Do whatever it takes to ignore the "friend". Some people are just like that and yes it's never that simple just to remove someone completely from your life Flowers

em it's ok to get fed up now. Pregnancy does seem to last forever! Great news about the new clothes fund- you deserve a treat! Feel unique has a shop Shock , I thought it was just online. You are Halo not to be going in

need ponder away. It's a tough one. DD2 is two and a half. Poor spotty baby she's no longer a baby

meadow you can do this! Quite honestly moving house tests everyone to their limits.

Got £9 refund on unused swimming shorts and t shirt set
£4.20 on lunch and snacks and dental floss
£15 on Chinese takeaway
£4 on bread, milk and strawberry

I left work in a hurry an hour late yesterday. Was on the train and realised I left my car keys at work. Ahhhh. Called DP and he picked me up from my car with the kids rather than having to go back to work which would have got me home a further hour later. Fortunately a colleague will bring them back for me later. Seriously, i feel like I have filled my brain up with too many things to remember Confused

Loveabaconsandwich · 04/08/2017 07:28

Hope you are feeling better wreck ?

WreckTangled · 04/08/2017 07:45

Yes thanks. I still have a sore throat etc but the fever has gone which was what was making me feel awful. My hips were in agony!

WreckTangled · 04/08/2017 08:05

Just checked my bank account and Covea have put £100 compensation into my account. I'm really annoyed because they haven't written or phoned to ask if that's acceptable and I just find it really rude!

Cagliostro · 04/08/2017 08:28

Probably just hoping you'll think YAY MONEY and leave it wreck Hmm I hate lack of communication from companies.

Em agree absolutely do get clothes after baby arrives! It's important I think - yes things change, you will be mummy to a beautiful boy, but you will still be YOU.

Eeeek need that's brave of her! Ouch! I think you're right, no point making it a forbidden thing.

I've planned the journey to the workshop so can get there pretty easily, so may still go depending how the morning goes. There's a special offer on the voyager (wider area) family tickets on the phone app so have got them - one for tomorrow too, as we are going to tunbridge wells to use our MN pizza express gift card (rather than using it in our town we thought it'd be a nice excuse to go somewhere different).

ememem84 · 04/08/2017 09:01

love yep. Feel unique have a shop here, in Guernsey and in London I think. Their warehouse used to be based here which meant that any orders would just be dropped round same day. Now I have to wait at least 3 days!!!!

I may go and have a look in the shop today...

SunnyLikeThursday · 04/08/2017 09:06

One of my friends said yesterday that now that universities have to take account of all kinds of medical conditions that students have, he thinks that the lecturers ought to be able to list all their medical conditions too so that the students could be accommodating.

It was meant to be funny I think, but it sounds like such a sensible idea. Meadow what do you think of that? Do you think that would be helpful, from what you have seen of recent university life?

WreckTangled · 04/08/2017 09:51

£71.69 food delivery

FridgeCut · 04/08/2017 10:10

I'm so sorry, I never seem to be able to hold the thoughts in my head to mention people when I post. I realise I am terribly rude and probably should step away from the thread. The thread moves so fast and these days I just can't seem to catch up.

£45 Tesco delivery yesterday, hoping to get some form of compensation as they screwed up my collection slot with 3 minutes notice.

WreckTangled · 04/08/2017 10:13

The cheaper tickets were back on the Trainline 🙌🏼 so £43 Tain tickets but will get £17 back for my step mums. Ds is still free luckily. Having to go on the Victoria line which takes longer as there's some major work going on at Waterloo apparently meaning there's hardly any trains running and then they're taking ages.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/08/2017 10:18

Fridge you certainly do not need to step away. It's 100% fine to post spends & ask for advice.

needastrongone · 04/08/2017 10:36

No requirement to do any such thing Fridge. You post spends and that's fine, honestly and totally fine.

Holly If I save money as a family of four on a meter, you most certainly will! How's the marathon training going?

I got up early and did 10 miles off road and it was lovely. Packing now.

Laska5772 · 04/08/2017 11:33

Gosh you lot are so lovely! Thanks for all your kind words about my wobble! I am at work so this is a quicky!
need have a great holiday. I hope you are not packing for everyone?
;Wreck glad you are feeling a bit better
Em yes new clothes! Good idea.. but dont be in too much of a hurry.. I lost loads of weight bf- skinniest id ever been .. ( that was 27 yrs ago though , shame it didnt last!).
Fridge no rules! I went awol for over a year and people were pleased to have me back!! ( well they said they were anyway Wink)

Laska5772 · 04/08/2017 11:37

holly we moved from a metered area from non metered and our bills are about the same..however im sure we use more water here as we have huge garden and grow veg. Although we do have loads of water butts we do have to use mains water sometimes

SunnyLikeThursday · 04/08/2017 11:56

Fridge I can't keep up with commenting on other people's posts at the moment either, but I figure it's better to keep coming and keeping in contact every few days when I get a second than to not post at all. If I don't come, I really miss hearing about everyone and their news.

My whole life at the moment is about trying to sort out money and everything else, it so interlinked with money, and I find it hard to post details of that without exposing far too much information. I'm frugaleering like the clappers here though.

CremeEggThief · 04/08/2017 12:12

Honestly, Fridge, don't worry. I often just post quick spends, if I haven't got the time or inclination to do a long post.
