I've set my bets up, I'll make £34.45 today. I've got £10 free bets left for later.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/06/2017 11:36

Up to £39.22, £5 left but no liquidity until 14:00.

Bought a case for my nail art brushes so I can line them up in order. £7 off amazon but I had a voucher so free.

Got another £10 Amazon voucher for ipsos surveys.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/06/2017 13:04

Work this morning. Scout fayre this afternoon. It's too hot for me

SunnyLikeThursday · 17/06/2017 13:07

We're off to a scout event in an hour's time too, in a park, and it's 28 degrees outside. It's going to be interesting. Hope everybody brings hats.

LonelyOversharer · 17/06/2017 13:22

It's even hot with us!

Got a kilo of butter in the boot of the car, might get messy. Think I'll go and bring it into the shop...

£30 hobbycraft for dd2, £45 asda weekend top up, and lots of water for tomorrow (£20 from kitty)

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/06/2017 13:25

Ours is on a village green with about 2 trees.

MeadowHay · 17/06/2017 13:27

It's hot here too but I have awful anxiety and back pain so don't think I will manage to get out to enjoy the sun at all Sad. But I'm thinking I will cope with it today and hopefully tomorrow I will feel a little better and at least get down to a local park to read my book in the sun for a few hours or something as I don't want to miss the lovely weather.

Sunny I am furious about the Grenfell tragedy too. I keep thinking about it and I think this is in part why my anxiety is so bad today because the news, my twitter feed, everything is just full about it and it makes me so sad and angry Angry Sad !! The poor residents were ignored for so long and only now that so many people have died (we're looking at triple figures despite what the media may try and have us believe) is anybody looking at the issues. It's disgraceful that in the 6th richest economy in the world we have people literally dying just because we wouldn't legislate to force old high-rises to have sprinklers!!! Angry

Anyways.

Frugal news: got my claims reimbursed from disabled students' allowances, £276 in total which should be in my bank account in a few days, which is handy! I feel so sorry for new students as they get much less generous DSA entitlements now as the government massively cut what disabled students can be awarded.

Plans for today are look after myself; clean out the guinea pigs (how I'm going to manage that with my back I have no idea but it needs to be done Confused); write a short article about legal stuff re: Grenfell for my friend's online magazine thing; edit DH's job application personal statement thing that he wrote in a rush last night; possibly apply for another civil service job if I have the time/energy/motivation.

Probs take a diazepam now so I can get cracking with things.

Laska My dad has worked away a bit like your partner for years too, he's normally away in a different city Monday-Thursday evening now. My mam just got used to it I guess although even in his older jobs he would travel abroad for conferences fairly frequently. I always think I'd hate that but I guess different things work for different people.

ememem84 · 17/06/2017 14:14

riding done. Stables are putting their prices up from July to £27 an hour. Which is fine, there haven't been any price increases since I've been riding there so not too much of an issue. Only thing is that I'll either have to have the right money or will be given change. Eugh. But hey ho.

Collected my pie and scotch eggs. Whilst at the "pig van" I also sampled a piece of sausage roll and a small piece of pork and apple pasty. Brought them home too. Total "pig van" spends -£15.50. But delicious. Mmm.

Thinking about heading to the beach. Have just had a bowl of strawberries for a second lunch as had a pasty for lunch before riding.

It's far too hot to do anything - I kept waking up in the night gasping for breath. I assume (hope!) the delivery suite at my local hospital has air con!

went out this morning to get a few bits of shopping from the local high street, including collecting a cross stitch alphabet I did ages ago, which I'd left for framing and which is going in the baby's room. I am very pleased with it but the framing was a bit ££ Hmm.

That wasn't the end of the spends because we dug the paddling pool out of the garden shed only to find that it has been chewed by mice. I've Amazon Primed a new one, should come tomorrow. And an electric pump because ours has gone missing - I think we lent it to someone.

DH is doing all the running around after DS today because I can't take the heat. He's a good 'un.

lonely I can't believe you are baking all day today, that must be very hot work!

Sunny glad the medical stuff is looking up

Meadow congrats on the job interview, fingers crossed.

Might move from a. Sitting to a lying position now, just for a change.

MeadowHay · 17/06/2017 15:42

I'm watching RuPaul's Drag Race. I watched the first two seasons years ago and never went back to it, so I've just skipped straight to season 9 and am two episodes in and realising just why I loved it! I doubt anyone else here watches it but if you're open minded and interested in performance/hair/makeup/dresses/anything like that give it a go because it's great!

Cagliostro · 17/06/2017 16:26

NSD for me, DH returned my DVD to the library so may have been a fine of about a quid. First DVD I've borrowed since I stopped working there (and thus lost the staff perk of free rentals!) but I really wanted to see the other three series of Line of Duty. It was cheaper to let it go a couple of days late (DD still not sleeping well and by the time she's asleep I'm too tired to concentrate on anything) than renew it for another week.

Having a (hopefully brief) relapse of one of my conditions, been tachycardic since yesterday evening Angry. I actually prefer the pain type flare ups as at least those I can medicate to some extent.

WreckTangled · 17/06/2017 16:30

Really hot here too. Just had a tea party for dd's birthday. My friend made this amazing cake for her.

ememem84 · 17/06/2017 17:09

meadow I've never watched it but keep thinking I must give it a go.

wreck wow great cake!

We've just been for a walk along the beach and an ice cream. £3.60 for 2 99's with flakes and salted caramel sauce.

Now lying on bed trying to decide what to wear this evening for dinner out.

Meadow, hope you feel better soon and we'll done for getting that interview. Awesome! I do hope you get the job.
Em, your MIL sounds vile but clearly DH is on to her.
Cag, hope you feel better soon.
Sunny, Ian glad you are finally being listened to. About time. Just remember try harder to relax.

Happy belated birthday Wreck and cake looks awesome.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 17/06/2017 18:00

Lonely my dd got this for her 11th bday and loved it www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N3CUKO8?psc=1scooter&tag=mumsnetforum-21 otherwise does she like reading? Books are always well received here. dd is slowly becoming more interested in clothes as well.... well done on all the baking.

Had a nice day but unfortunately had another bad headache which is not ideal when its so hot!! Popped into town and spent £6 in The Card Warehouse.

Other spends £1 parking and 75p on conditioner in Boots.

SunnyLikeThursday · 17/06/2017 18:01

meadow this is why I'm so glad that you are training as a lawyer. The world badly needs people who understand what it's like to struggle, and who also have law training. Only people like you can stick up for those who can't help themselves iykwim.

I went to my scout thing and out of the blue, ds took part in a talent contest. That was surprising. We are hot and he is pleased.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/06/2017 18:04

£10 ish at fayre. Good turn out do that should boost the scout coffers.
££10 Chinese

This lovely weather makes me want a garden more. Off to right move

SnugglySnerd · 17/06/2017 18:49

It's quieter on here than usual today. I hope that means everyone is out enjoying the sun!

Loveabaconsandwich · 17/06/2017 20:01

Well done meadow on getting your interview. You've obviously cracked the meeting the civil service competencies writing which is half the task (and there is definitely an art to it)

Hope you are ok seacow, I expect you are melting. Eat lots of ice lollies if you can!

We had a lovely day out yesterday as we all had the day off. Took the boat over to Brownsea Island and had a great day. Was spendy, about £55 in total due to boat, entrance to National Trust, ice cream and parking.

Coincidentally in the evening we found out DD has got a place at Rainbows which was great after visiting the birthplace of guiding/scouting. DP and I had done a bit of reminiscing about guiding/ scouting and realised we last went to brownsea island to camp about 20 years ago Shock

Still 26 degrees here. I'm not a hot weather person so feeling a bit over done after my day out yesterday

Cagliostro · 17/06/2017 20:19

I've been sitting indoors while the Caglets run about with friends having a water fight!

Just heard from DH that his wedding ring is broken :( it's a celtic knot design so it was weaker anyway really and especially as he uses his hands so much at work I guess. I've not been able to wear mine since my second pregnancy. Maybe one day we will be able to save up for new ones (bigger in my case).

Laska5772 · 17/06/2017 21:44

Scorchio here ! We have been in the garden all day trying to get it into some sort oforder to be left for 3 weeks.. our courgettes are laready producing which means they will be mega marrows when we get back.. We do have a friends lovely daughter come to feed Dpusscat and water the plants while we are away , but despite encouragement to take the produce home she never does pick any.

I am so tired today but that is because I have started my Zyrtec tablets to build up Antihistamines before i go away..( mossies love me!)

NSD! I havent left the house/garden..

100yearsdotcom · 17/06/2017 23:49

Sorry I can't remember exactly who said what but pleased to have read that everyone seems to have had nice days notwithstanding overheating and illness - get well wishes to those who need them.

We've been busy all day trying to sort out our garden as it got very messy over the last year of me being pregnant and somewhat incapacitated. We did pop out to a plant sale nearby and spent £16.50 on plants bit this is a sale I go to every year and the plants are always great value and quality. Plus I went for plants that will come back next year or provide lots of seeds so kind of frugal... absolutely shattered with the heat now though!

Christmas my delivery suite had air con but was way too cold so they ended up having to bring in a heater as I was shivering uncontrollably. Probably didn't help that I'd been told in antenatal class that it'd be like a sauna so hadn't packed anything to keep me warmer so I think you'll be OK.

SunnyLikeThursday · 18/06/2017 05:33

We seem to be on a round of constant socialising these days. Play dates every day after school and three get-togethers per day on each weekend day. I wonder if there is a quick way to get the ears to stop ringing from constant small-child chatter?

I'm just gathering myself up for a visitor today, a trip to church and then a lunch and then swimming and a scout thing, and I have something booked for every day this week. Then a street party on Saturday, and the Scout AGM on Sunday. This is a lot!

I think I'm going to need to find a way to look like I'm involved but actually have my brain in powersave mode.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/06/2017 07:03

Probably going out for lunch today as dh going away.
Shit haven't done father's day. Back in a mo

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/06/2017 07:19
