Just looked at application - go two pages or less. Get the important stuff down first.

With things like this I tend to mind map are we allowed to say that now the things I want to say and then mark them in order of importance.

Right, off off to watch Poldark on catch up. Grin

Loveabaconsandwich · 27/06/2017 20:24

Yep, agree with em only write two pages meadow

Looks a good job. And full time is 35 hours, which is two hours less than most CS jobs I think unless you are in London, which is a bonus!

MissMysticFalls · 27/06/2017 20:25

Hello - I tried to be frugal so switched from £20 a month to a £5 per month sim-only mobile in an old phone (instead of replacing my broken blackberry) but a major downside is that I can't use the internet on my mobile so can't keep up with mumsnet discussions!

A few successes this week:

  • managing to stick to the mealplan so far and somehow makes it more likely we all sit down to eat together which is nice
  • on track to bill two more days to clients than I expected to this month
  • forgot it was non-school uniform today for DS, so saved a pound!!

I've also signed up to do a free course with Uni of Pennsylvania through Coursera www.coursera.org/ loads there if you're looking to boost your CV.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/06/2017 20:35

I agree stick to 2 pages.

Coppersulphate · 27/06/2017 20:51

Meadow stick to two pages.
Yes to lease car.
Wreck💐 you are having a terrible time with that car.
Cag, a boy. Boys hide things too. Sometimes.
Good for you Em, sticking with the gym. You know it and they know you. Maybe after baby boy is born they will let you freeze the membership.

WreckTangled · 27/06/2017 20:54

I got the car! They said mine won't be fixed until Monday Confused but the nice car man did bring my glasses for me as I had left them in the car.

SnugglySnerd · 27/06/2017 21:18

Well today was hard work! So much so that I asked DH if we could send the babies to nursery and keep DD at home instead so I could have 6 months of lovely days out, baking and crafts with no crying or nappies. Of course I was joking but considering DD has been here all day I feel like I've barely spent any time with her when there wasn't a baby crying.

I managed to resist DH's offer to bring back a treat from the petrol station though and I think my jeans are a little looser. Hooray!

CremeEggThief · 27/06/2017 22:27

Hang in there, Snuggly.Gin

Spends: £4.20 on bus fares and £26.15 pub meal, to mark our last night in this house.

100yearsdotcom · 28/06/2017 00:05

You sound really sorted em hope you enjoy the aquanatal as much as I did!

FlowersGin snuggly I've been stuck under my DD for the past few hours... napping in 5 minute bursts as she struggling with teething... good job she's so cute! Grin

ChristmasSeacow · 28/06/2017 00:45

Hello, reading but not much chance to write! Must be brief as need to sleep...

Thanks so much for the bf advice, and especially for understanding why it's not easy. DS doesn't really 'do' telly, v limited interest beyond familiar episodes of Thomas, but he does occupy himself quite well. It's more than when he needs something (a lost toy, nappy change or whatever) he NEEDS it! We've had a better day with bf but still so far to go. Went to a useless bf cafe where the woman annoyed me a lot (I got ticked off for using formula, and a few judgmental things were said). You'd think I'd been feeding DD fruit shoots Hmm. Anyway, someone nicer is doing a home visit tomorrow morning so I will take stock after that. You lot were much nicer and more helpful than the 'professional' though!

DD has lost 10% of her birth weight, which is the limit of what they want to see, and is a little jaundiced. Can only imagine what would have happened if no formula!

Meadow I think it's great your first was a surprise - even more thrilling! And you are not boasting, it's definitely okay to be really chuffed. I am dead pleased for you. Agree with the others re job application - keep to 2 pages and try to make it read well and hit the main things they are looking for . It's refreshing to read a statement that is not too over-detailed or 'listy' but shows the person can write succinctly!

Snuggly I know what you mean, babies are gorgeous but hard work and you have x2. DD will love them as they grow up, it's short term pain for long term sibling gain.

Creme are you actually moving already?!

Cag DS did that at his 20 week scan. Grrr.

northender · 28/06/2017 05:12

Belated congrats Seacow! Bf is hard work to begin with but worth it in the end if you manage it. At the end of the day, so long as your dd is being fed that's the main thing. Hope you get useful support from the fb lady today.
Cag hope the diagnosis for dvd helps you get any support she needs
Snuggly I don't blame you for your thoughts re nursery for the dtwins. I'm certain I'd be the same in your situation, but don't be too hard on yourself, you're doing a fab job.
creme I obviously missed the back story to your move, good luck with it anyway.
meadow great news on your first, good luck with the job application

Monday here was spendy as I did food shopping (£63). I've decided to have my teeth bleached which is £££ but hopefully will be worth it. One of my two front teeth is dead and consequently brownish and I'm very conscious of it. Anyway, I got the bleaching trays & solutions on Monday from the dentist. Fingers crossed it works...
Have meal planned for the week, Monday was roasted cod fillets with pesto breadcrumbs, last night was lasagne,
Wed: chicken curry
Thurs: frittata & salad
Fri: burgers at the cricket (if the weather picks up)

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/06/2017 06:16

Bollocks lost a long post. Highlights are:
Snuggly today is a new day. Sea hope your visit goes well.
You are both doing great.

CremeEggThief · 28/06/2017 07:02

Moving Day! Eek!

ememem84 · 28/06/2017 07:06

Today maybe spendy. Work this morning, funeral this afternoon followed by family wake in pub then probably a takeaway or something for dinner.

Cagliostro · 28/06/2017 07:20

Today?! Wow I didn't register the actual move was happening so fast! Take it steady and best of luck in your new home, how exciting 😍

Ah seacow I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with the BF help. I had a horrible meet with an NCT lady when DD was tiny and it put me right off, it's horrible when somebody is judgmental and not supportive as they should be! 💐 DS had formula top ups for jaundice too BTW, he had low blood sugar too and yes goodness knows what would've happened if we hadn't supplemented it those early days! Getting the calories in is the most important thing right now.

Off on a train today for a family thing. DH's family, some of whom weren't exactly supportive and said really nasty things when DH told them about the baby 🙄 but it'll be worse if I don't go TBH. Hopefully they've got over the crushing disappointment shock and it won't be an issue and will just be a nice day where we talk about other stuff, but DH agrees if anyone says something nasty or judgy then we are outta there! 😀

Cagliostro · 28/06/2017 07:25

Hmmm what with the bully and her batshit crazy mother, and DH's bitchy family members, I am rather aware my recent posts sound like I should be on Jeremy Kyle Hmm I swear my life is usually boring free from such silly drama :o

Hope the funeral goes as well as it can em Thanks

SnugglySnerd · 28/06/2017 07:51

Thanks everyone. Obviously I adore the twins but it can be a bit intense with all of them! Feel better for a relatively good night's sleep.

Hope the move goes well, Creme.

Cagliostro · 28/06/2017 08:05

Glad you had a better night snuggly 💐

WreckTangled · 28/06/2017 08:17

Woah creme how did that happen so fast?!

Seacow sorry they weren't helpful hopefully today will go better. Being jaundiced makes them super sleepy so she definitely won't be feeding as affectively as she should be.

Cag we all have crazy family members 😂

Snugly glad you had a better night things always feel worse in the evening.

Today I need to do a small top up shop otherwise nothing needed.

Cagliostro · 28/06/2017 08:34

I feel like I've joined a crazy family club wreck :o I often feel a bit left out when I read all the bizarre threads about evil in laws! :o

Coppersulphate · 28/06/2017 09:31

Crime, hope the move goes well for you. Good luck. Expect you'll be off line for a while while you get sorted.
Cag, we all have crazy families. DP is here with me at the moment. Before he came down his son, who is about 50ish gave him a small wrapped box with a note on it which said " do not open until 1.30 on 27th" . So we didn't. Then at 1o'clock on the 27th we got a text showing him getting married at Gretna Green. And in the box was a beautiful little wedding cake. Crazy family.
Wreck, glad your are finally sorted with the car.

Coppersulphate · 28/06/2017 09:34

Seacow, so sorry you are having a bad time. Have to say I gave up bf after 3 weeks. You are doing really well. Just do what is right for your family. You know them better than the ' professional'

CremeEggThief · 28/06/2017 10:10

OMG, Copper, that's some anecdote! Hopefully I won't be off line for too long, as the broadband guy's coming to the new house this afternoon.

Thanks for all the good wishes. 😍

Cagliostro · 28/06/2017 10:14

Awww copper that's so romantic!
