Dinner out was lovely last night. My sis paid so no idea how much I owe her yet.

Nsd today. We're off out for breakfast with fil in a bit. Could honestly do without it as am exhausted and want to sleep in. I'm sure in a way dh would understand if I said no but I know He'd be a bit upset.

May have a nap later...

Morning all. Still struggling to keep up, but doing my best.
Happy birthday wreck for Friday. Beautiful flowers. Glad you had a good time in Barcelona.
Em your mil really is a nightmare, glad your Dh responded as he did.
Fluffy sounds like the matched betting is going well.
Sorry for all those I've missed but it's difficult on the iPad.

Lovely weather here too. We booked our St Ives cottage so have that to look forward to in Oct/Nov.
Have had a few spendy days. Daren't even say how much on "shape wear" knickers that come up to my neck, or that's how it feels! We're going to a ball on Friday & I needed something to smooth out the lumps & bumps. I've ordered a strapless bra for £££ too. I've bought 2 tops and a pair of cropped jeans too as my current clothes are falling off me. Don't want to spend too much as I'm continuing to lose weight & hope soon to need more new stuff.
On the weight loss topic, I've lost 11kg now and my BMI is down 5 points. Much more to do but am feeling amazing and starting to enjoy my workouts.

Dd is downstairs making Fathers Day breakfast which involves sausage butties I think, yum!
Dh is going to a concert later with a friend. I'll be at the cricket club, cooking, again, as there a "Big Bash" competition. Ds is playing in it, dd will probably help me out.

ChristmasSeacow · 18/06/2017 10:11

Great weight loss North. I shall have to make a big effort once the initial baby shock is over as I have piled on far too much. It feels great getting into smaller clothes, doesn't it?

I have discovered that the delivery suite does NOT have aircon and is likely to be the temperature of Mercury. Therefore I have spent an absolute fortune on Amazon on a table top fan (in case they don't even have that!) a hand held fan, a water spray, something called Magicool, a clever towel thing that is meant to keep you cool and a gel pilllow thing you put in the freezer. Can you tell I am panicking about giving birth in an airless room at 30C+? Actually I'll probably feel it more on the post natal ward, which is going to be hot, stuffy AND noisy! Grr. Keep reminding myself we are lucky to have universal healthcare, aircon is not essential

DS slept in till 7.45, which is very unusual for him, so I feel as though we've had a last hurrah on the sleep front! I am savouring it Snuggly ! Have you had a better night?

SunnyLikeThursday · 18/06/2017 10:18

Christmas The maternity hospital where ds was born had no aircon either. We were fortunate that he was born before the hot weather kicked in, but I think it was quite tricky for summer births. I think that's very sensible of you to go prepared.

Our busy week has got a bit easier as we have cancelled everything that was planned for today. Phew! Ds has a friend around and I have put a load of home made lollies in the freezer.

I just sold our replaced car tyres on ebay for £120 and our old car for £1600. Pleased about that.

100yearsdotcom · 18/06/2017 13:21

Well done sunny that's brilliant on the sales. Sounds like you're very busy and I think it's very sensible to take it easy today, especially in this heat!

Christmas, I can't believe there's no aircon! Good that you have got yourself prepared though - and yy to postnatal ward being hotter than the surface of the sun! It took me until my second day there to realise the windows opened!

Should be a NSD here today.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/06/2017 13:25

It is too hot here, I could feel my feet burning when i was hanging the washing out!! Am dreading work toms, our hideous uniforms are awful in the heat and most of the patients still have their flipping heating on Shock Confused Angry

ememem84 · 18/06/2017 13:31

Crazy hot here. 28 degrees. Set to reach 32 on Wednesday. Oooooof.

Off to parents later to have dinner and give ddad his Father's Day present. He thinks dinner last night was it. 😀

Spendy day. £150 food, £43 lunch. Also dug up a raised bed but going to hire a skip to clear it as it will need eleventy million trips to a not local tip. £100 ish next week.

SnugglySnerd · 18/06/2017 18:11

Slightly better night last night thanks, Christmas. You must be roasting. I found the post delivery ward too hot in March so it'll be horrible now. I bet they still make the baby wear a hat. They seem a bit obsessed with babies wearing hats even though the ward is like a sauna!

Had a really lovely day today. We just stayed at home. The twins fed and slept when they were supposed to and we played with DD1 lots. Only expenditure was £2 on bin liners - exciting stuff!

WreckTangled · 18/06/2017 18:29

Crazy hot here too. My shade thermometer was reading 32.

Nsd. We've stayed in today. I got loads of washing and tidying done. Our house is so hot. It's a two up two down and the sun shines the the back all morning and front all afternoon. I'm not looking forward to work this week

Cagliostro · 18/06/2017 18:34

Ditto here, we got a weather kit in a charity shop recently and have been tracking the temperature. Somehow I don't think we will be making a chart for the rainfall section as it would be somewhat pointless :o

DS has come out in hives since playing outside Confused

Thankfully they didn't make either Caglet wear a hat (June and August) but I suppose I'd better take one for Cagletini as it'll be cold in November!

NSD here, yesterday I ordered some maths resources. Both to help the Caglets and to use in my tuition

100yearsdotcom · 18/06/2017 18:45

The hats thing is daft - you're not supposed to put babies in hats inside as the advice has changed due to the risk of SIDS if baby overheats. However, not all midwives are up to date on the research so we had various midwives come on ward either putting on or taking off all the babies' hats! This was mid March and although it was cold outside it was roasting on the ward!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/06/2017 19:07

We had a lovely afternoon at the jazz on the lawn thing, my dad randomly ended up buying us NT membership Shock am very excited at the prospect of all the places we can now visit!!

Only spends were £2 on a drink.

Dreading work tomos, I may melt........

WreckTangled · 18/06/2017 19:21

Cag I think the advice has changed to no hat for newborns. I'll see if I can find something, not sure hospitals have got the memo yet (obviously outside is a different matter) oh and I have the most lovely snowsuit if you need one. It's a newborn one but ds was in it for three months. I love it so much I'm desperate for someone else to have it.

Oh I just typed all that then went back and read 100's post!

100yearsdotcom · 18/06/2017 20:14

Great minds wreck! Grin

SnugglySnerd · 18/06/2017 20:28

I was told to put hats on them in hospital which was unbearably hot but when discharged they reminded me to take them off when we got home incase they got too hot. Madness!

My poor cat is too hot to sit on my lap. He tried for a minute then went back to lying sprawled on the floor. It must be horrible being all furry in this weather although this is the same creature who sleeps on the radiator cover in winter!

ememem84 · 18/06/2017 20:43

I've made ice blocks for catface for tomorrow. So she'll have her water and a nice ice lick.

OP posts:
Laska5772 · 18/06/2017 21:08

em I dont think its advised to give cats ice or ice cream ( but she probably wont touch it anyway ) i was told this by a vet cool water ok and even very cold but if they get ice in their mouths it can get stuck they can break teeth on it

LonelyOversharer · 18/06/2017 21:11

Checking in. Road race today, was really good, very hot, and all went well. Just one complaint about cars parking on 'private' land: the verge by the highway. Am I right in thinking most peoples front gate/hedge/wall generally marks the boundary to your property? We just apologised.

Have some cake left as it was a bit hot to eat much after, they got through about 60l of water!!

We went to Maccyd's for tea, dp and I went halves, as it's £30 if we all have food!

So tired now. Have an eye test tomorrow, have an nhs excemption card, but am going to buy Oakleys, so will have to top up the extra. It's been 2 years, and I have stopped wearing my glasses (which I need) as the lenses are really scratched.

Laska5772 · 18/06/2017 21:13

any way schorchio again,, feel for all you pregnant ones.. we have been out on garden again,, I love having a big garden ( its why we bought this place, small house, huge garden) but its tons of work.. esp if its going to be left for a few weeks.. .

So hot here this arvo though i came in after dropping DH down to ferry (back to work for him until thursday when we are off ).. Been sorting out stuff i need to take away , packing bag and tidying house.. (all exciting stuff)

off to read back thread now..

Have just sat down with a nice Wine.

ememem84 · 18/06/2017 21:18

Oh I didn't know that laksa hm. Maybe I'll just cool her bowl in the freezer overnight. Empty bowl. So it's nice and cold for her. Or just use the charcoal filtered water we keep in the fridge for her...

OP posts:
ememem84 · 18/06/2017 21:19

Saying that though ice cream she seems to like. Vanilla cherry ripple seems to be her favourite. I caught her licking the empty bowl the other day.

OP posts:
Coppersulphate · 18/06/2017 21:36

Lost another long post. Fed up with this.
32 degrees here. Far too hot for anything. And I got a puncture on a narrow country road and had to call the AA.
Got home this morning and had spend ages watering the garden. Got cabbages and broccoli but broad beans and courgettes are not ready yet. Got cucumbers and tomatoes.
That weather pack sounds interesting Cag.
Sunny, enjoy all the activities but remember to work hard at relaxing.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2017 21:49

Well, I feel like a negligent cat owner now. Mine has tap water.

£11.

ememem84 · 18/06/2017 21:52

fluffy she usually has tap water. The fancy water is kept in a nice glass jug in the fridhebso is super chilled. It's meant to hit 30 degrees here tomorrow.

£7 today on lemonade sparkling water and washing up liquid.
