Frugal news...applied to the hardship fund at uni after suggestion from my welfare adviser, he is busy processing the application for me at the moment. Reckons I can get £100-£200 quid which would be great and even at the lowest end would pretty much pay for my gown hire and photography for my graduation ceremony. He also suggested contacting Severn Trent and/or British Gas's charity arm if we can't get our electric meter investigated (as we think it's faulty, some of you may remember) and end up needing to shift the £500+ debt we have stuck on it at the moment, he said previous students have had success from Severn Trent in the past paying debts off and it can be with other companies sometimes so that's something I need to investigate. He also suggested speaking to Shelter about our rights to access them meter to see if we can get it checked but I'm not holding my breath there really.

I have also picked up some work on reception in the SU over the summer as my current job is very close to ending. It's just a few odd days and then a fortnight of 10am-4pm in August. Not sure whether I will cope with that many hours but DH thinks it is a good idea to take them and try and see how I get on as then I'll be able to see after whether it was ok and I can try FT hours afterwards or whether it was too much etc so I guess it's a good idea now that I have a sympathetic manager and stuff. And means some money coming in from me over the next few months too.

Oh and one of DGpigs seemed to have a sore foot/leg over the last few days and DH took him to the vets and she checked it thoroughly and it seemed to have mostly sorted itself out so she said we didn't have to pay for the appointment, how kind is that! So some frugal wins recently.

I found that a bit with the whole feeding thing as well Em all the advice and support very much geared towards bfing, I went with an open mind like you but when dd was actually born felt much more emotional about it all. Agree grit and determination are required in the early days, it helped being tight frugal as well as even when bfing was tough going I kept thinking about how much money I was saving

Dd ended up in scbu for the first week so was always mix fed in the early days, due to being a stubborn mare determined I went onto bf for nearly a year though. I went back to work when dd was about 7 months and was able to keep bfing just mornings, evenings and at night if needed which was quite nice really.

Been a busy work day, NSD though.

Girlie ds was in scbu for two weeks and tube fed for the first week. I managed to bf until he was ten months though I didn't get to hold him until he was five days old and it was a full week before I was even allowed to put him on the boob.

Frugal fail today. Didn't get out of gymnastics on time to get the bus (will be different timings anyway from next week as acro class starts), we walked through the lovely village to check out the pub for dinner! DD freaked out though because there were some rowdy people by the door. So we didn't walk past them to the nice clear restaurant bit. And went home instead and ordered Chinese. Spent much more than usual as I went via Just Eat and just realised I forgot to go via cashback sites FFS and I saw much more on the menu that I'd not noticed, I normally go for the same stuff! Loads left for tomorrow though. And more veg than if we'd got a pizza grasping at straws here and SO YUMMY.

For context, I seem to have suddenly gone from first trimester constant nausea to second trimester "I must eat all the things". Sigh.

Need I'd have gone batshit at that 😳.

Have laminated everything. Run out of things to laminate now.

Its 6am start for me setting up (which means l have to leave here at 5) and about a midnight finish though ( by the time ive finished up and delivered ballot boxes etc to the count and then driven home)

So think of us poll staff and go vote, people!!

(Sadly though , I'm not confident of getting the result I want on Friday, and definately not here as its Toryland. Lets hope I am wrong..)

Have my meals for the day to take prepped and in fridge ready to go must not forget them Am being good thinking bikini , have eggs, chicken salad and blueberries/ yog .. but also in bag is cookies, choc and jelly babies for the other staff of course .

right. Im going to bed in a mo.. well off to bed with tea and book in hope of falling asleep by 10 .. I never sleep well if i know i have to get up.. its like catching an early flight..

Just logged off from my work laptop as had to do some work after getting home tonight. I had literally already saved my colleague's bacon (ha ha) by helping with something he should've done earlier, only to save the day a second time for a meeting that he'd forgotten. That then created urgent work to be done tonight. Doubt I'll ever get a favour in return!

Blimey wrecked, that must have been tough, getting BF established under those circumstances. Good for you. I'm no breast feeding police but I agree with girlie, things change when that bundle actually arrives in your arms. Plus, whoever said it does take perseverance and bloody mindedness was right too, it does. I was so sore I bled from both boobs but did a long stint with both DC.

Agree, someone that isn't working, with no experience really has no right demand a potential pay rise and refuse too work away. It's all of us guys on here paying for his continued benefits....

meadow, I know it's a scary thing, but I agree with your DH about taking the job. When you are anxious it's very easy to consider all the things that can go wrong and not how well you might be able to do. It's easy to say 'I can't' and not 'I can'. DH does this, will always consider the worst case scenario, but imagine what would happen if you did manage to do the job, and how brilliant you would feel. And you can!! Don't consider what might go wrong but what might go right. You are capable of far more than you think you are

Wreck that sounds similar to my experience, I had dd in scbu for the first week and then when she was two weeks old I was back in hospital having my gall bladder out One of the hospital Drs told me I might as well stop bfing as unlikely to be able to go back to it after the op!! I think him saying that made me more determined to bf to prove him wrong I was lucky that dd was happy to have boob or bottle though.

Day off tomos, got lots of bits to sort out and have to cycle dd to school as she is doing the bikability course for 2 days.

New thread new start for me hopefully keeping up again.

I'd two very different experiences with bf despite having both babies in same hospital 3.5 years apart. First time around I got these looks for bf & little to no help from staff. One nurse was brilliant though & really helped me. Next time around they were brilliant & when ds was 3 weeks old I was readmitted with post partum haemhorrage. I left ds at home with his sister (dh's older daughter 30 not the 3.5 year old ) and when nurse found out I was bf she sent dh home for baby, as he was entitled to be with me! I assumed it was end of bf journey because of me being hospitalised & went on to mix feed him until he was 8 months. Our version of mix feeding was if I was with him I bf if he was with childminder or dh he got formula I didn't get on with expressing. With dd I gave bottles by day & bf at night & first thing in morning. You do whatever works for you & your little family.

I ran 17km this evening I'm thrilled. Half marathon is sat week & our four week five days per week bootcamp starts on Monday. Need what would you think of this plan - 10K run at weekend, bootcamp mon tues wed, easy 3/4km thurs nothing fri & then race day?

Totally unrelated, but today I looked out of my window and there appeared to be a man sleeping standing up in my front garden, with his head on my wheelie bin. After a while he stood up and it turned out that he had been listening to the pavement with a 5 foot long ear trumpet, that was directly behind the bin. Odd!

I've had 5 difficult and complicated meetings in the last week to sort out medical problems, and I did them with a certain amount of gusto. You would have been proud of me. Dentist tomorrow for ds again so fingers crossed for that.

Girlie you did well managing surgery with a two week old baby. Yikes!
