I have a couple of pairs they're soft. Stretchy. High waisted...

Have just watched life stripped bare. Very interesting. I'm not sure I could cope for 21 days with only one thing a day.

I was going to watch it, but it looked like they were making a big issue of the nudity, so decider not to bother. I watched a good documentary about children learning to read on BBC 4 instead.

Trying, glad you're sorted with accommodation now. I'm sure you'll have a great time. I must try to get down for a day with DS, if we get cheap tickets, as we haven't been for about 18 months.

Cagliostro · 05/07/2016 22:54

Spendy McSpendypants today. Bus fares, swimming (worth it though) and a small lunch out before the museum trip, ice cream etc. And I bought a shredder, it was £13. There was an uber cheap one at under £6 but it's a manual one with a handle to turn, and I'm too feeble and the DCs would probably get bored with it after a few turns :o.

I feel like I spent a lot more than I did as well because the DCs spent birthday/pocket money and that came out of my account but I get theirs back IYSWIM.

And. And and and. We spent ages in the game shop. And didn't buy anything. [basks in smug frugaleer glow]

Canklesofglitter · 05/07/2016 22:57

Em I also just watched Life stripped bare. Was v interesting seeing how their approach changed as they got more stuff back.

Cagliostro · 05/07/2016 23:12

I was tempted to watch that but was also put off by the nudity, I am no prude Wink but from the adverts I was just thinking could they not have just had basic clothes?! I don't know, I may watch it.

Tryingtosaveup · 05/07/2016 23:19

which museum Cag, I love museums

Tryingtosaveup · 05/07/2016 23:26

If you have kids over the summer you can do the reading challenge in the libraries...they all do it and it's free.
It usually starts when the schools finish.
It has a different theme each year.
The idea is the DCs have to read 3 books of their own choosing....any books as long as they are from their local library. At the start they get a badge, a chart and some stickers (usually ) and then when they take each book back they have to tell the librarian what they liked or didn't like about it. And then they get some more stickers etc.
when they have read the 3 books they get a medal on a ribbon and a certificate.
My DGD keeps asking when it starts.
It's good fun for them, especially if it's raining, and it's free.
Last year they had to collect so many small stickers and put them on the chart.

Cagliostro · 05/07/2016 23:28

It's a tiny one in Sussex :)

Cagliostro · 05/07/2016 23:29

Summer Reading Challenge theme this year is Roald Dahl :o

Tryingtosaveup · 05/07/2016 23:47

Has the reading challenge already started then.
Don't know anywhere in Sussex really. Anyway hope you all enjoyed it. Often the little ones are best.

Cagliostro · 06/07/2016 01:06

It should start in a week or so, but I get advanced info because until recently I worked in a library :) (and my mum still does, in a different county)

Ememem84 · 06/07/2016 06:33

thry did make a thing about the nudity. But to be fair I think we all would. If you are suddenly naked and not used to it.

It was interesting to see how quickly they got their phones back. I wouldn't last 21 days without mine.

Although am leaving it in my bag more at work now (previously it lived on my desk). May leave it at home today. What's the worst that can happen...?

Bother, looks like DC1(3.5) is just a bit too young for the reading challenge this year. I used to love doing the Book Trail (as it was then!) every summer. Though now as a parent, I realise it was just a sneaky way to get us all out of the house!

£25 yesterday out of the account for DC1's swimming lessons this month. Other than that NSD. My DM treated us to lunch out after swimming and we just mucked about in the garden for the afternoon.

Sooo tried, DC2 (7months) keeps waking at 5.30am Shock. I am not a morning person

Sierra259 · 06/07/2016 06:35

Sooo tired that should be! See, I can't even type straight Smile zzzz

WreckTangled · 06/07/2016 06:48

Snuggly I got some C presents in the fat face sale the other day.

No way Cag? Dd will love that!

Was up in the night with Ds sobbing with growing pains Sad

Spends today £20 petrol £3 toddler group

Ursulatodd · 06/07/2016 06:55

My sympathies Sierra Brew hope you get some rest today!

Em no contact Monday sounds blissful!

Yesterday was fairly spendy: £22 for our cleaner but it was her last ever visit! (have been discussing cleaning schedules with dh!!); £2.24 on Aldi fruit (cherries are 59p atm); £7 sponsorship at work.

Also (gulp) dh spent £550 from his account on our new tent Shock. Although we probably won't use it now until next year it was too good a deal to miss and we're aiming, with good care, for it to last at least 10 years. Our aim is to make it cost neutral by selling other stuff, currently have some camping equipment on eBay which we should get around £150 for and we have a fairly decent Outwell tent to sell too so we're off to a good start!

Ursulatodd · 06/07/2016 06:58

Wreck me too with DD Confused happened last week as well - any tips? We use a cold flannel but not really sure what else to do?

WreckTangled · 06/07/2016 07:04

We did ibuprofen and a massage. Apparently hot water bottles are good too. He was so obviously in pain poor monkey

Ememem84 · 06/07/2016 07:27

ursula I had no idea tents were so expensive! But worth it if you use it and think it'll last 10 years.

We have ☀️☀️ Here this morning. Apparently it's going to hit 23 degrees today. Will probably go for a walk at lunchtime in the sun and avoid the shops. Have out my flipflops in my bag so I can change and my gym towel and kindle. So I can sit in the sun. Hopefully. Maybe this is the start of summer.

Hoping for nsd's until Saturday when I pay for my riding lesson. I'm out tomorrow night at a drinks/networking thing (free drinks and canapés yay! - love canapés!) then Friday am getting my tattoo patched up but it's free. And I have the doctors but I can claim that back so it doesn't really count.

£20 on afternoon tea today. Got a voucher but l lost it. Frugal fail.
Need to get m more top up food today too.
Ds has school trip but paid for.
£40 for fa registration

Check your iron will out cag. No spend in a games shop.

Ursulatodd · 06/07/2016 08:24

It is a bit posh - even has a carpet! And it's enormous (living area is bigger than our sitting room!) but definitely an investment as with 3 children our days of flights and family rooms in hotels are numbered. We've had our current tent for almost 8 years and are hoping to sell it for at least 1/3 of its original price. However still Shock !!

Just completed two more jobs from the frugal list - reduced virgin media by £20pm and have increased childcare vouchers to max.

SnugglySnerd · 06/07/2016 09:00

Our tent was expensive too but paid for itself within 12 months as we had 4 holidays/weekends away in it in that time!
Just spent 49p on a pint of milk and DD is having her hair cut today which will be £5. No other spends planned unless I buy those purple skinnies
Been making a list of free or cheap summer holiday activities. Hopefully we'll get away in the tent at some point too.

Badders123 · 06/07/2016 10:06

£5 for shampoo and conditioner but was half price so quite frugal
Grocery delivery coming tomorrow - £80
Mum is treating me to breakfast Smile

AdoraBell · 06/07/2016 11:41

NSD, but DH is going out and I will ask him to buy more pain killers.

SnugglySnerd · 06/07/2016 12:45

Got my cc statement and noticed 4 more fraudulent transactions. 2 are with Amazon but nothing is showing in my own Amazon account. Have phoned bank who are sorting it but how on earth do I contact Amazon? Can't find a number to call. Would actually prefer to email as I'm fed up of being on hold to call centres!
I've also had a letter telling me I must renew my driving licence, I've only had it 6 years so that's another phone call to make. What a waste of time!
