Unescorted thanks for the beetroot tip - just done this for tea and will freeze the rest. Well done on giving up smoking!

Well am most intrigued about the foil banana claim Collie!

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2015 20:32

Unescorted Well done for giving up smoking, it's the best thing to do for your health.

It took dh several attempts to give up and he vapes now instead.

Unescorted · 05/07/2015 20:39

NSW - I thought you were moving to Australia there.

I am going to try the foil thing after the next shop .... I will leave one or 2 without as an experiment. I will report back.

I thought about vaping - but then realised I would just be defering the pain. I am through the I want to kill / grind my teeth to dust phase.... the house is very clean as it is impossible to smoke with wet marigolds on. It is just the odd moment when I think "ohhhhh I want a tab". It has been surprisingly easy. I should have done it ages ago.

Hello frugaleers! Have any of you lot found your local Freecycle or Freegle? It's brilliant you can receive and donate things so that they don't end up in landfill.

People ask for all sorts and donate all sorts too - so for the cat poo tray there's bound to be someone with one lurking in a shed that you could have.

People offer building materials, clothes , kids bikes, beds, white goods, carpets, furniture, craft stuff, magazines, baby stuff, computers , TVs., all sorts!

We've donated and accepted all kind of things (our old bike shed went to a lively man who was using it to store his boys wheelchair). Worth it when you are brassic, and good environmentally all round.

Ashbeeee · 05/07/2015 20:47

Re giving up, it was hard.....I did a spreadsheet that calculated how many fags I hadn't smoked, and how much I hadn't spent on them. Every time I was tempted I opened it up and saw the cash..... The following year we took the kids on holiday to California with the money we hadn't spent on cigarettes. Wonderful.

girliefriend · 05/07/2015 21:04

Oooo a NSW that could be a challenge Grin

Don't think will manage it this week as the local fair has rolled into town and dd has been nagging to go already, will be a £10 limit on it though.

A NSW would be a challenge indeed, may give it ago next week though!! Could certainly do with it before the summer hols are upon us.

babsmam · 05/07/2015 21:11

You are on collie. after tomorrow I'm only spending on one exercise class, parking for swimming lessons and beavers . Going to aim for nothing else until the weekend and over then if I can

Pointlessfan · 05/07/2015 21:15

Evening all! Just caught up on the thread as I've been away on a school trip all weekend. Only spent around £15 on a few coffees, an ice cream, chocolate, a fridge magnet and a newspaper.
Forgotten who asked about beetroot but HFW's beetroot & walnut hummus is delicious. I might have to buy some beetroot now so I can make some!
I like the idea of a NSW. Good luck, looking forward to hearing how you get on.
Good fruit & veg storage tips. Mine is for broccoli - if you stand it upright in a mug of water in the fridge it keeps for ages.

needastrongone · 05/07/2015 22:46

girlie Do Go Outdoors fit back protectors? That's a good service, didn't know that.

Been away at the weekend too at a competition, lovely weather, lovely company, kids had a ball. Spent very little but need to check what DH has spent too.

Definitely £90 though as poor ddog2 has/had developed an abscess behind his eye (likely a puncture wound in his mouth getting infected) that was huge, causing his whole eye to bulge and pressurise his brain. He's been at the vets all weekend on a drip. Thankfully he's home and much more himself, but the £90 is the excess for the insurance.

I like the HFW book for veggie ideas pointless.

lilacclery · 06/07/2015 06:43

girlie same as you here it's festival week. Today I've left €6 for the ice cream party its in aid of down syndrome Ireland, good cause. Tonight it's the celebration of light, which is for local hospice €5 a candle it's going to be little bits of money every day this week I'd say.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/07/2015 07:11

I'm hoping I can have a few nsd's. Thursday I'm taking Ds to a play farm but hopefully that'll be it.

northender · 06/07/2015 12:46

Have lost track of the thread a bit over the past week and haven't had time to catch up properly.
Have had another ridiculously busy weekend but not too spendy. Dc both have cricket matches tonight and dd has another tomorrow night. Nothing else much planned for the rest of the week so should be okay. Pil are coming on Friday and staying until next Wednesday so i need to plan all the meals etc but again it shouldn't be too bad as it will be virtually wall to wall cricket. Then after that, the junior matches will be done for another year......phew!
Will catch up properly later.

AdoraBell · 06/07/2015 14:15

Found my bank card Grin I turned my bag out 3 bleeding times and It. Was. Not. There. Until today when I went to call the bankBlush I'm glad I found it before I started dialing.

Today I need a top up shop, a birthday present and underwear for DDs.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/07/2015 15:30

Nsd. Feeling really down. Dd had sports day and no one really talked to me unless I spoke to them. Where I was sat I just felt like I was intruding on a family picnic. Then ds ran off and I couldn't get him so another mum had to grab him and they all probably thought I was just being a shit mum. So I just left and cried all the way home.
