Collie DD is very interested in the cat litter too - toddlers!!
It's a shame we can't post potatoes as well as Quorn as I have a tonne after the online shopping debacle this week!
Anyway, Quorn in slow cooker was fine so here's the recipe, heavily adapted from a chicken recipe in a magazine:
Finely slice 2 onions, 2 peppers & an eating apple. Add to slow cooker with Quorn chicken pieces, 2 tsps paprika, a couple of cloves and a bay leaf. Chuck in a tin of tomatoes and a small glass red wine (about 100 ml). Cook on high, I did it for 6 hours but took of the lid towards the end so it thickened a bit.
Serve with rice or mash and topped with natural yoghurt.

£20ish tescos and sainsburys on bits n bobs that I can't get in my asda delivery.

£21 swimming lesson

Work have a scheme where u preload cards for tescos/sainsburys/asda/waitrose/peacocks/amazon/gap/new look/m&s etc etc etc....all with about 5% off. Dp thinks not worth it...but I beg to differ? For an experiment I've done £20 for sainsburys and asda for now. ...

NK5BM3 · 20/06/2015 21:45

Went into my first B&M shop ever... Wow. An eye opener, and true to form, we were spendy. £85?!! A paddling pool (old one is knackered), £5 on a toy for ds, £10 for a hairdressing Cinderella - (ds7 has offered to pay for his sister who's turning 5 in sept!!) £6 on a minion bag for ds and other things like dishwashing tablets (omg so cheap!!) and the like.

£25 lunch out with friends. £23 Aldi shop.

Haven't quite figured out what we want to do for Father's Day tomorrow. Sigh, more money spending on lunch out I suppose.

Oh, also just spent £11 on toothbrush heads for ds (4 of them) and £12 on wooden letters for dd's door. Finally got round to getting them.. 4 years late!!

Peppapissinpig · 20/06/2015 21:49

NK.... After asking around I managed to buy 20 toothbrush heads off eBay for £6.99. They seem perfectly fine and fit our OralB electric toothbrush. Take a look next time you need some because Like you I am Confused at the price of them in shops.

Peppapissinpig · 20/06/2015 21:51

Is B&M like Home Bargains?

babsmam · 20/06/2015 22:03

oh no collie sorry to hear you have had rubbish news.

Peppa yes b&M is like Home Bargains

At least you can laugh about frugal disasters with us.

We eat quite a bit of quorn but usually bought on offer, and potatoes for that matter.
Hoping for LSD if not NSD tomorrow as DHis on nights and if its fine we might go to the allotment or the sKate park.

northender · 20/06/2015 22:12

Thanks for the new thread Smile

Horribly spendy day today, £7.50 ds' cricket match subs, £5 dd's sewing club, £20 on lunch for dh and I, £15 on Indian takeaway bits (bhajis etc) to go with our curry for tea. Have had a lovely day though so I'm not going to feel bad about it.

AuditAngel · 20/06/2015 22:40

Hi everyone. The Tesco shop was less than expected. They didn't have one of the hairbrushes, so down to £69, but I also rejected a substitution, so about £66. Unfortunately I also needed some other bits, so another £40 (included hair dye 2 for £11, wrapping paper, breakfast, ) they had some pens I really wanted, they were £15. They were in my trolley, and I put them back (proud emoticon)

Had a madly busy day with the children doing a cabaret. Left home at 12.30, got home around 9.15. mcDonalds for dinner £15 for all of us. They mucked up our order. Gave us extra cheese bites and extra double cheese burger, DS now can't move!

blueteapot · 20/06/2015 22:54

Win on the freebies Audit :)

Sorry to hear you have had bad news collie, I definitely think rubbbish things are sent in batches :( we've had so many money things in 2015 but Im (trying to keep!) holding onto the positives. hope things pick up soon. How did the car get on?

My folks returned from their holiday and came straight round to see the dc which was nice :) they were most impressed by my (neighbours!) gardening lol / tree removal and apparently I should get my three big trees that clearly need removing done too. £300 I don't have spare at the moment no matter how many times they bring it up, a tidy up will have to do!

DH has decided to re point the crumbling stone wall himself, via YouTube. He is quite handy these days so that should save a few pennies.

Renovating on minimal budget is a longggg game lol

blueteapot · 20/06/2015 22:55

I have abandoned the last thread as I just couldn't keep up so I'm starting a fresh with this one.

collie I used 're glaze my glasses' that were recommended on mse. It meant I could keep the frames I like but update my prescription. I have anti scratch/glare/etc coating and they change colour in the sun and the frames were given a general clean for £139 which I am happy with. Hope you're feeling better now too.

ipsos I ran down the cupboards last month. My budget is usually for a 4 week month but I managed 5 weeks and still had £25 left. We had a few odd mixes but no one starved and I enjoyed the creativity.

I need to start shopping for home insurance, last year with cash back it was £60, my aim is to get it lower!

pass I do that with Boots and Sainsbury's it's not a huge saving but if you add it up over the year it all helps.

Sorry to hear that Collie, I heard yesterday that a friend's daughter is sick, it sounds bad.

babsmam · 21/06/2015 09:46

Sorry to hear that too ipsos

sportinguista · 21/06/2015 09:49

NK5BM3 B&M is great but the one near us closed (so they could refurbish for a Morrisons that never ended up opening Angry. The nearest is a bus ride away.

collie Orchard is great! I've just had £5.25 worth of coupons for fruit and veg through and have got more on the way for deserts. We've ended up with some lovely stuff to try for free which has added to our food budget nicely.

Spendy yesterday as got DH a book for fathers day from DS as he's going on a 2 week course and staying in hotel during week so will have a bit of time on his hands in evenings. Just videoed him snoring on ipad as a joke, he's so loud we can hear him from downstairs!

Hoping for an NSD today but may have to get some milk, but will do that using change. Have some birthday money to spend but will probably get a dress tomorrow.

ipsos glad your DS is better and hope he enjoys the street party, at least the weather seems to have perked up today!
