Ooh, good find on the Converse!

Peppapissinpig · 13/07/2015 14:17

Waving madly from sunbed in Greece (sorry!)

I have a question about opening current accounts. Can I have more than one? We have just the one for everything, income, bills etc... And a savings account with same bank.

Think I saw something further down the thread re multiple current accounts

Is it in my interest to open others? Are there incentives/cash offers and do you need to put in a minimum amount each month? Do you have to prove you're using it for Direct Debits?

SoZ way more than 1 question!!!

Back to my piña colada Wink

SpottyTeacakes · 13/07/2015 14:20

Yes peppa with the hsbc one you have to pay in £1750 a month and have two direct debits (I think for two months).

Hi Peppa I'm about two days ahead of you. Read about it on here, then recognised it later on MoneySavingExpert where they describe it as piggybanking.
I'm not eligible for any bonuses beyond being more organised and in control, but it did lead me to a couple of better savings deals.

Peppapissinpig · 13/07/2015 14:41

Realistically how much is it a PITA to open an additional current account (still want to stay with current one) and move say 3 direct debits for £100

SpottyTeacakes · 13/07/2015 14:43

Hmm not as easy as switching completely as they do it all automatically for you. Transfer all the direct debits and close old account.

Ipsos we could never afford that much but it would be a starting point.

Peppapissinpig · 13/07/2015 14:43

Piggybanking - shall have to read up. Thanks Myturn.
Am quite happy to switch around with utilities, insurance etc but seem to get nervous when playing with banks.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/07/2015 14:56

I would have said the same, but I'm getting in to the swing of things today. I haven't gone hardcore because I'm just sticking with the same bank, so can see all of the accounts on the same log-in.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/07/2015 15:11

Dh did say his boss mentioned something about being exempt. I'll ask bil he works in finance so might know. Thanks Smile

unescorted I'm so sorry your mums going through chemo, it's a tough treatment.

I'm glad you enjoyed Greece Laska & Peppa.

Lots of cold water worked for me when I had recurrent tonsillitis. Avoid coffee whatever you do, it drys the tissues out. Not that any of you probably feel like drinking coffee.

I'm not doing the money test, I'm trying to get the house decorated so all spare cash goes on that. I'd come out as terrible with money and at risk of bankruptcy.

£8.50 petrol.

£8.40 in tesco on tassimo pods, cream cleaner, Dw tabs, no daisy powder! was v upset, and cherries.
£5.85 on jeans off eBay.

Hi everyone I am joining you all :)

We have has a reality check lately & it's time to stop spending & start paying the debt off, if we want to save for a deposit!

First step, paying of those retched CC, I will try & get my head around how to do that.

On the plus I finically got my tax rebate of £550! Which will go into savings until I know where best to put it.

yogababymum · 15/07/2015 14:56

Woops just realised that's it's actually July! Just a little behind Hmm
