Hi all, I'm going to have another bash at this frugal mallarkey. I don't keep track of my spending and never think twice before spending anything.

I can't even remember what I spent today! I have no excuse - I could easily note it down on my phone.

So, from tomorrow I'll post each day and where the money came from (as I am a booger for spending on my credit card)

SpottyTeacakes · 21/12/2014 19:07

Nsd here. Dh worked 6:45-2:30 Hmm hoping he'll get good money for that..

lilacclery · 21/12/2014 20:46

Nsd for me - went to see Santa prepaid weeks ago out of Christmas savings. It was frozen theme & was magical, dd was enthralled, asked him to bring presents to me & dh the sweetie. Dh paid for lunch, we visited relations & then dh paid for takeaway on way home. Mine is going cold cos I'm putting ds to bed Sad.

Work tomo & tues & then 2 weeks hols!!

Commitment from dh to sit down & figure out his finances. I really feel joint account will help, that should be open before Christmas so I can set it all up during Christmas.

Passthecake30 · 21/12/2014 21:05

£10ish in tescos and £48 on petrol. Loving the reduced petrol pricesSmile

Think spendy time is slowing down for me (finally! ), could br something to do with the fact that the joint account is emptyBlush

NK5BM3 · 21/12/2014 21:08

Had a couple of NSD then paid about £27 for dinner and parking on Friday.

Saturday didn't spend any coz had friends over for first Christmas meal. Cooked like mad.

Today £6 at church for various things.

£10.50 at primark. Kids shop for the dh for Xmas.

Happy Christmas everyone!

RobinEllacott · 21/12/2014 21:18

LSD today, but spendy day yesterday - DM was staying for the weekend, so we took her out for a nice dinner yesterday and paid a babysitter. £125 including the babysitter - ouch, but was really nice. Today was just coffee and cake in a museum, but I think I've basically fallen completely off the frugal wagon this month. As someone said upthread, this is such an expensive time of year. Still have to collect (and pay for) Christmas meat from the butcher, and run round the supermarket for vegetables etc. After 24th December I will be good!

I realise, with total horror, that I haven't either bought a present for DH or taken DS to get one. This has never happened before! Mercifully I'm now off work so can go and do something about it tomorrow.

SpottyTeacakes · 21/12/2014 21:23

Robin I realised yesterday I hadn't got dh anything Shock I did an amazon order with delivery for tomorrow. Spent £50 and got him five things, nothing exciting but more than he's expecting.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/12/2014 21:39

I'm not getting dh anything because I've paid for the Christmas break in the hotel.

He left his phone at home & I pressed the home button (iPhone) & there's a message from dpd for his Ugg boot delivery.

So, either I'm getting ugg something or other for Christmas or he's got uggs for someone else or he's cross dressing.

I did say I didn't want anything because I don't see how he can afford it really.

I dunno.

Maybe they're fake fluffy Grin only cost him a tenner.

Dh went off on his own Saturday morning and appeared with a fat face bag, so not the hair dryer or dressing gown I need and have hinted at but he can buy me those in the sales Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/12/2014 21:48

Dh has had the lecture on fake uggs & the dog fur trade in china. He knows better.

I think it's mittens.

My old hairdresser highly recommends the ghd dryer, she reckons its better than parlux!.

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 21/12/2014 21:49

My current one is 12 years old. My dad bought it for me when I was still living at home! It's really crap and takes an and to even dry ds' hair.

The ugg mittens look amazing. I'm sure you deserve them Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 21/12/2014 21:51

The ghd one is £90!! I have really fine hair so will probably get a £15 one!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 21/12/2014 22:14

Thanks for the welcome.

NSD here. Tomorrow might be quite spendy though.

Get paid on Tuesday, so will check exactly what is left in my account. Plan is to have more in there at the end of next month than I do at the end of this one.

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 21/12/2014 23:48

£84.56 epic twitch on amazon! Blush Well, not so much twitching as finally deciding on stuff I'd been considering for ages anyway. Mostly books/activity books plus some DVDs and a game for DH's birthday next month (so that's his birthday completely done now too). Amazingly only £9 of that was the delivery charge for express delivery!

Still got a couple of bits to get for other people though.

sportinguista · 22/12/2014 06:09

Today will be LSD as only a bit of wrapping paper to get. £42 to pay tomorrow to settle wine account with a friend who has a shop.

Aldi was quite spendy with DH but on balance it was all accounted for and planned and other than milk and the odd fresh bit we now have food pretty much all month.

Will be getting a large amount of cash in Jan and also FIL has sent some which should come through soon.

Looking forward to just settling back and watching Christmas movies with DS and maybe going for walks and baking and after tomorrow it will be mostly NSDs till after Christmas. Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 22/12/2014 06:37

Going to chessington garden centre to see Father Christmas today. Will buy lunch out. Haven't needed any petrol yet this week (usually do £30 every Saturday) still have half a tank from last week!

Dreading this afternoon. Got to choose a couple of people I've no idea what to get for, find an iTunes voucher, and choose a present for the new baby in the family (I'm now a great-aunt! :o).

It's going to be packed in town so I'm dreading it because I'll have two overexcited children with me. Why oh why did I not make these decisions earlier? Well, I know why really - I love choosing Xmas presents for my DH and DCs/DSCs but buying for anyone else causes me massive anxiety, so I put it off, and frankly it ruins the buildup to Xmas. When will I learn?!

And then I'm meeting DH when he's finished work, so he can take the DCs home and I can go to work. Uggggh. Waiting for express amazon delivery, hoping it comes early so we can leave earlier and not rush.

Also need to do the tesco order. I booked the slot ages ago and just checked out with two bottles of booze to save my slot but I don't actually want either! (Well I do but I'm not supposed to drink on sertraline)

DH for some reason decided to invite the neighbour round today or tomorrow which is insane because we are in a right mess. Aaaaargh

574ejones · 22/12/2014 14:04

£23 on dental check up and £17 on picking up Turkey and some other bits from farm shop (deposit already paid some time ago). Doing a final clean and tidy and need to finish my wrapping and then I am finally done!

SpottyTeacakes · 22/12/2014 14:17

I got shouted at by some twat woman for looking at her child the wrong way today Shock the best I could do was tell her to shut up. Crazy woman.

lilacclery · 22/12/2014 15:15

brilliant news collie
congrats NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding

I forgot to get photo frames when in Dunnes on Sat and didn't get time yesterday, will go to town after work tomo and do those last few things because I'm NOT going there on 24th and THATS THAT!!

Passthecake30 · 22/12/2014 15:43

£19 on soft play entryShock

Off out tonight, food all paid for, need to pay for drinks and cab

bantamgirl · 22/12/2014 16:47

I have only left the house today to go to the corner shop for two First Class Stamps £1.28

Will be going shopping (armed with a list) when DH gets home with the car in a couple of hours. I have got my £25 Match & More vouchers to spend too so might not end up spending loads. Did a 4 week menu plan last night so I will have enough food in the house to not have to go to Morrisons again before Xmas.
