Must check out river island, former work colleague with great figure always swore by them guess I thought they were just for skinnys

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 30/11/2014 11:51

Yes collie I avoided it for years because of scary club wear but went in out of jean desperation and was pleasingly surprised!

I like river island and Dorothy Perkins for jeans. I'm short but have more tummy than thigh Grin

RobinEllacott · 30/11/2014 15:16

Signing into new thread! LSD - £1.70 on two metres of ribbon, and £4.80 on newspaper, milk and carrots.

I am also short and ample of thigh, and really like Uniqlo jeans - they alter the leg length for free too.

fuzzpig · 30/11/2014 15:40

Well there's no way we are bothering with going out now so will just be tesco and anything else I happen to get online if we do more Xmas shopping.

I REALLY enjoyed my leftover Chinese for lunch :o

Not even really sure I remember what I've ordered from tesco. Didn't particularly meal plan. When will I learn not to leave ordering til late in the evening when we are too tired to think?! Got lots in the freezer though so I'll be using up what I can from there.

fuzzpig · 30/11/2014 15:42

I haven't bought new jeans for ages. I am making do with belts ATM as my current ones are too baggy, but I don't think I can justify getting new ones - I am gradually losing weight it seems, and I'd rather wait until I'm definitely another size down. I hate clothes shopping anyway.

Passthecake30 · 30/11/2014 15:50

collie take it all to the charity shop! I can't stand clutter. Currently drowning in kids tatt and "art" that every now and then just gets binned

Xmas shopping didn't go well.....at a loss of what to buy dd. She only likes crafts, painting; playdough and dp doesn't want to get her that. ..as above, it makes a bloody mess. Thou I don't see the point of getting her more barbies/babies/ponies that she doesn't play with. Ds is similar as doesn't actually play with much but we've got him a marble run and lego. ..so that'll keep him busy for a day then he'll ignore it for the rest of time

SpottyTeacakes · 30/11/2014 15:53

Pass does she like baking? You could get her lots of fun stuff for making cakes?

I would throw it all out too I hate having stuff just for the sake of it. Mil has dumped loads of crap on us as they've moved abroad and it goes straight in the bin Blush don't tell dh

babsmam · 30/11/2014 15:57

Spendy day today. Took the kids into town after seining and ended up with loads of craft and christmas stuff, plus lunch in a cafe.

girliefriend · 30/11/2014 16:11

Pass how old is your dd? One year dd got a selection of notebooks, post it notes, pens, activity books etc and she has got loads of use out of them and they were relatively mess free!! Plus the activity sets like hamma beads, aqua beads, make your own jewellery box type things were always popular.

LSD £4 on some No7 day cream, Christmas present for my mum. Had a £5 off voucher so a small bargain really.

FruitCakey · 30/11/2014 17:03

Joining this thread as I am now skint Blush

AdoraBell · 30/11/2014 17:25

Welcome aboard Fruit, saw your thread but technology got in the way of postingXmas Hmm. Anyway, we're a nice bunch and you will find lots of help.

Try looking at a few blogs, my links never link properly but I use the following

Penny's recipes
Love food hate waste
A girl called Jack

They all have ideas for low cost recipes.

If you need things like tea/cereals in the next shop buy the supermarket own brand, one of us buys Sainsbo's tea and puts in the branded box and doesn't tell her DH Xmas Shock he hasn't noticed yetXmas Grin. Also, add lentils to your meals, be it soups, stews, spag Bol, curry or salads. Some people add a handful of oats to spag Bol to help stretch the mince to make more meals. Apparently it needs water added to allow for the oats swelling.

I've spent around £48 on food today plus fucking £15 on paint for DD1 for school, she still needs 3 more coloursXmas Hmm and DD2 needs feathers, againXmas Hmm.

Collie ruthless is what you need to be. I saw on here somewhere that someone's parents have crates labeled Crap for DC to Sort After We Die. So, unless you are planning on bequeathing a tea pot to each DC, if you have 4 DCs, then send them off to the charity shop or similar.

fuzzpig · 30/11/2014 17:56

Paint and feathers? What on earth are they doing :o

Just posted on your thread fruity, welcome :)

Bought the Marie kondo book, badly need to read it. the clutter stresses me I think.

Welcome fruitcakey

sportinguista · 30/11/2014 19:31

So went to Aldi with DH, he even quite enjoyed it and we didn't overspend. Got most of the things on the list except for vege stock cubes ( aldi only stock the meat ones Grr!), £62.27 with the voucher and DH spent £39 on booze and lots of Christmas stuff so we now only have fresh bits to get nearer the day.

Picked up pirate ship which turned out to be in huge box, lots of fun getting it on the bus and then walking round locally to get other bits!

Otherwise just a lazy day. DS and DH now happily listening to Rob Zombie.

I did a big declutter not long ago collie, try the ZenHabits blog for inspiration it always makes you think about how much easier life is without so much stuff in it (maily to clean Grin).

Ooo..nice new December thread :o

Have been wretchedly ill today with a big picked up from dd, so confined to bed and sofa for the day. I didn't spend anything but dh got fish and chips for dinner at my request. Bless him. I only managed a few chips and I mouthful of fish but it was the only thing I could even consider eating for some reason.

AdoraBell · 30/11/2014 20:41

I We've binned a load of stuff, and given away loads, that the ILs have dumped on us too. Even DH got to the stage of hair tearing out with it. Although there is still a pair of Irish coffee glasses lurking in the garage. There because after he said he'd give them to someone I moved them. 3 years ago. We'll be downsizing if we ever sell this house so more will have to go then. I remember one day when DSS was here and literally binned the stuff off the top of the cabinets. I will be able to honestly say that I do not know where umpteen unneeded items are when PILs askXmas Grin

FuzzpigGrin it's paint for one and feathers for t'other, different projects.

Roar hope you get better quickly.

Passthecake30 · 30/11/2014 21:08

Dd is 5. She has plenty of activity books, pens, crayons, paint (just gave about 200 excess pencils to freecycle as I had 20 of each colour! ). She likes the decorate a box/bag/make a puppet type stuff but that id exactly the sort of stuff dp doesn't want more of. ...but I think he'll have to come round or she'll get nothing.

Fun things to make cakes sound like a good idea. ...but that means I would be making fairy cakes on xmas day? ?

She would love a build a bear I think but I can hardly give her a voucher. ...
