£10 today on cinema tickets for me and dd, went to see Annie - I loved it!! So dd of course but think I possibly enjoyed it a bit more than she did Grin have been singing the songs all day.

Am worrying about how I am going to get through this month as keep remembering things I am going to have to pay out for, dds bday being the main one. I had said to her that instead of a party and expensive present we might go to London to see a show. I started to look into what it would entail last night and reckon would be a minimum of £350 for the both of us Shock £120 ish accommodation, £90 theatre tickets, £90 to get there and back plus food and spending money not sure I can justify it Sad

SpottyTeacakes · 30/12/2014 19:37

Girlie we saw mama Mia in London and the tickets were about £20 each. Would you be getting the train? I'm sure we could try and help you find some cheap deals? Are you too far to do it in one day?

girliefriend · 30/12/2014 20:36

Thanks spotty it would be quite far to do in one day, although am considering it!! I am in South West so its about 3 hours on the train, will have a look at Mamma Mia tickets, do you use a particular site for getting tickets?

girliefriend · 30/12/2014 20:36

Yes would get the train.

RobinEllacott · 30/12/2014 20:44

NSD! I remembered to take a packed lunch to work. With luck I'll do the same tomorrow (though that won't be NSD as I've got to go and get my hair cut).

Desperate to get rid of the Christmas stuff now, but haven't time to do it till New Year's Day. I'm working tomorrow.

girliefriend, have you looked at what's on at the National Theatre and the Barbican? They often have quite cheap tickets, though your DD's birthday is at the wrong time of year for the Travelex tickets at the National. It's also worth having a look at lastminute.com for late tickets sometimes. What date did you have in mind, and what does your DD like?

Passthecake30 · 30/12/2014 20:54

£5.50 ish on lunch coming back from my mums, £16 in sainsburys and £244 on a new tumble dryer - we have a hosed one at the moment that we have to put outside and have the back door open for the plug, brr. Has been needed to be bought since our extension and dp has finally admitted that it is a nonsense having the heating on and the back door open to dry the washingHmm

CremeEggThief · 30/12/2014 21:44

£10.62 in Lidl. Also set up direct debits for both National Trust and English Heritage, which I will pay with my Christmas money, whenever they come out next month.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/12/2014 06:10

Girlie I don't know when you're looking to go but look here (think that should work. We had the £20 tickets and were really high up but could see/hear fine.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/12/2014 06:12

Or last minute.com do tickets too

babsmam · 31/12/2014 06:33

LSD yesterday. Instead of renewing our annual museam of the north pass at £47 we went somewhere new that is a fiver for the year. Not as big but nice enough and nearer to home so less fuel too.
£6 in the gift shop as took a pick nick and avoided the cafe.
Spendy day in the making today kids want to spend their pocket money ,as if Santa didn't bring enought, and so to large shopping mall and ikea today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2014 07:38

Welcome andsmile, you're on TiPs thread as well aren't you?.

Shall I start a new thread with the frugal threads I keep on my watch list for all the January newbies?.

Soooo cross with DH, he turned on car headlights to look for something (totally unimportant)'in the garage and forgot to turn them off, now the battery is dead on NY eve, it won't turn on, how much is that going to cost??

He is a lovely, kind, hard working man but I am starting to get really Angry at his constant "forgetsies" ... He is super scatty and it's very frustrating, especially when it costs us money unnecessarily (eg oh I left my rail card in my other trousers)

Cheer me up here people Sad

Gremlingirl · 31/12/2014 09:08

We did almost the same yesterday - DH put the light inside the boot on to check for escaped Christmas presents and left it on. If you have jump leads, or a neighbour who does, it's a free fix. The battery recharges itself while you're driving especially if you stay in a low gear so the revs are higher. I once jump-started my friend's car by watching a Youtube video while we did it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2014 09:23

If you don't know anyone with jump leads do ou have rac/aa membership?.

I'm training dh out of it by saying "god it's sooo sexy when you can't manage without needing my help, it's making me hot. We should have sex right now"

It's working too.

Yesterday was a nsd didn't leave the house.
today I must pay balance of property tax €150 & buy milk, maybe some snacks on the road that's all.

Tomorrow will be a nsd too Fri will be €30 to babysitter so that I can advertise my slimming class. Probably need groceries not sure as currently away from home. Sat will pay for dds friend to go swimming with her, dd is already prepaid.

andsmileimontherightpath · 31/12/2014 10:17

Yes thats right fluffy Grin

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 31/12/2014 10:26

Grin fluffy Dh currently at halfords on foot (40 mins min walk each way) to get portable charger as our neighbours are away and the ones on the other side don't drive. So £50 plus he isn't helping me with the stuff I had planned to get done in the house before NYE celebration tonight Hmm I wish he would
Wake the fuck up and take responsibility - he knew from 1.30am that he had done this and guess who was up and dressed this morning, doing stuff and who was lying in like a lazy arse? Yes. You're right, the one with ovaries was up doing laundry.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2014 10:35

Hopefully the walk will teach him. When he forgets something he has to sort it out.

Nagging doesn't work because they tune out to that.

I blame the mothers. Dh wasn't expected to do chores as a kid but sil was and its not a good lesson to teach them. The dn aren't expected to help either "because they're boys" but their good kids who would help out if asked.

Try the "god that's soo hot, it's making me wet.." Approach. It confuses them a bit too which is entertaining to watch. You see the quizzical look and the dawning realisation you are taking the mick.
