Interesting that they have it all over the place in hospitals etc, something to ponder!!

needastrongone · 16/12/2014 19:42

Probably alcohol based though Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/12/2014 20:02

There's less nv in hospital wards with hand washing and no gel.

It's something to do with lipids in the virus cell membranes hence they work on flu virus cells but not nv. Bleach kills nv cells though.

There's a massive over reliance on gel, like hanging a pomander during outbreaks of plague.

Verrucas are harder to get after puberty because hormones make our skin toughen and it can't penetrate hence higher rates of infection in pre-pubescent kids.

I've been making sure I wash my hands lots. Hopefully I had it Saturday when I felt queasy and that was it. Dd was full of beans today but still has to have tomorrow off due to the 48 hour rule. Might make some paper chains with them Smile could walk to the shop but it shuts at lunch time on Wednesdays (we live in the dark ages) and I probably cba to go out in the morning. Anyway should be a nsd.

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 16/12/2014 21:39

Back after a couple of days without my beloved iPod - charger died completely, thankfully after I'd ordered the replacement on Amazon deals. Laptop charger not really working either Hmm

Anyway, my last 3 days:

14/12
£6.99 Xmas present
£36.31 Tesco (pretty good as we've got loads built up in the freezer, especially considering it included detergent... but then I forgot butter, cheese and plain yoghurt... most things we'd just do without but DH went to Co-op today for them as those 3 things are fairly essential for every day for cooking - yoghurt is DS' breakfast!)

15/12
£19.59 Xmas presents

16/12
NSD! Wasn't actually supposed to be, as normally take DD to cafe while DS is at yoga, but I managed to forget my wallet - thankfully the park playground was no longer flooded. Have promised to take them to the cafe another day this week though. My brain is so useless ATM, I just totally forgot it was Tuesday - went to DS' classroom to pick him up only to have his teacher remind me he'd already gone to yoga! FAIL! Blush

Tomorrow I have work and need to pick up a couple of bits, Secret Santa etc so will be muchos spendy I reckon.

Passthecake30 · 16/12/2014 23:00

Still off the band wagon. ...

£40 m&s vouchers for dps parents. They are pains to buy for and we have run out of time.

£2 on batteries in the £ shop, £1 on a dog toy for dps brothers dog for xmas from dcs.

£6 in boots paid by points on gifts for dp from dcs. I'm not getting him a present this year. ..will use our money and go out instead.

still have to buy childminders gift (vouchers for beauty therapist), buy my team a drink at lunch (4 soft drinks I hope! ) and get some more food. And then the purse is shutting!

Pay day is early this month but has to last 6 weeks so I'm going to ignore it for as long as I can. ..

sportinguista · 17/12/2014 06:46

Will be NSD today as just doing making and cleaning around the house. Doing some making at the school with DS so will enjoy that. Other than that not much to do.

Have had a possible opportunity for yet another interview but I don't think it'll be this side of Christmas.

Need to do some present wrapping whilst DS is still at school and out of the way!!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/12/2014 06:50

I'm only going to have Thursday to wrap now as I work Friday and dd is off today. Ds is only napping for an hour atm too! Might have to do some in the evenings Hmm

needastrongone · 17/12/2014 09:19

sporting - you are in demand!!

Wrapping when the DC are little is bloody stressful, trying to sneakily find time to get it done. I know announce to the kids that they are not to come into the bedroom 'I AM WRAPPING YOUR STUFF'!!

Spending at this time of year is never ending isn't it?

I am in the house most of the day, then I have a few random cards to deliver, dogs to walk, pony to feed, paperwork to do, meal to cook.

Last day in work tomorrow for 2 weeks Xmas Grin

£15.80 on lunch at the garden centre for three of us. I don't even care as it was delicious.
£2.50 on sweets for dh from the dc. It's his birthday tomorrow. Plus it came out of his money Grin

needastrongone · 17/12/2014 15:22

Sometimes, it's not about being frugal Spotty, glad you enjoyed your lunch.

NSD so far, DD may need lemsip as I have had a drama queen text from her at lunch time to say she's dying of coughing Smile

That will be it though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/12/2014 15:58

Pholocodienes better for non-productive coughs. Lemsips a rip off. Pholocodiene is the dogs for coughs.

Sil wrapped dn presents at her mums house Wink

£5.49 aldi cream sherry.
£2.50 top up shop of cat food.

Thanks fluffy

I have chicken stuffed with chopped black olives and cream cheese, wrapped in bacon in the slow cooker. Will serve with roasted vegetables.

Make a veg soup with all my left over remnants of vegetables, plus a couple of carrots, which will do for our lunches tomorrow.

Going to try a slow cooked cake later, something I am dying to try but daren't as I can't get my head round it Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 17/12/2014 16:27

We've got korma (jar Blush) with left over chicken (only bits of leg meat left) frozen cauliflower and frozen spinach. Rice and popadoms.

Nsd Smile been at work, am knackered as didn't sleep well last night. Going to aim for an early night tonight!

Wish I had 2 weeks off for Christmas, am working up to Christmas eve Sad

Eaten vegi spag bol for the last two nights, very yum and am guessing cheap as a packet of soya mince is £1.50, add in an onion (approx 10p) half a tub of mushrooms (40p) tin of toms (60p) quite a bit of red wine £1 and a dollap of marmite and vegi stock cube (30p approx) so total £3.90 and that will do my main meal for 3 nights and dd for 2 nights, also gave my mum a portion!! Had with savers spaghetti and savers garlic bread - Mmmmmm!!

CremeEggThief · 17/12/2014 19:21

£52 on my hair and £1 on my bus fare. Oh and £1 on olives.

NSD. Need I have made a spice cake using the slow cooker as a Bain Marie and chocolate brownies just cooked in the base. Both were fine, although it is a strange concept.

needastrongone · 17/12/2014 20:36

ohhelp - DH does it all the time, it happens. It's hard to keep on top of everything.

574 - cake is in the cooker, with the lid on but a tea towel to catch the moisture, so I can't even see what's happening!!

girlie - we will have veggie tomorrow. We don't usually use 4 chicken breasts, but the farm shop had them on offer 8 large breasts for £6. Which was a good deal. I have used too much bacon in my cooking this week, so need to rein in tomorrow.

Have a bag of chestnuts from my last veggie delivery, so looking at risotto recipes for tomorrow.

Passthecake30 · 17/12/2014 20:46

£20 on lunch with my team, £30 on cminders xmas present. I think I might be nearly done? ?!!

Little bits and bobs keep arriving from china....stocking type stuff that I had completely forgotten about. ...Blush

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 17/12/2014 20:46
