I stopped following about covid and I'm wondering, how is it presenting now? What are peoples symptoms.

My mother was in town last week and so was I. I heard soany people with stuff and viral things and coughs. My mother has a sore throat now. She was definitely exposed to something whatever it is. Just wondering if COVID starts off as a sore throat?

i didn’t have constipation but definitely loads of reflux and stomach/pelvic pain. Couple of weeks ago thought it was appendicitis it got that bad nearly ended up in an and e, on the way passed a lot of wind and it eased right off. Turns out it’s trapped wind. My gut has been affected by antibiotics so trying to build up the good bacteria and things have settled but still suffering with reflux.

After 20 days of absolute hell I now feel I'm getting better. I still have very little smell/ taste and feel weak.

I never want to get this again, it was utterly brutal.

Thewondererhasreturned · 07/11/2023 18:33

Has anyone felt increasingly anxious following covid? I tested positive a week ago and this week I seem to be very tearful and full of anxiety its horrendous. Originally it was just a sore throat and fatigue

WLAH · 09/11/2023 21:42

I am still positivr after 2 weeks although line loiking fainter now. Still feel horrible and have a hacking cough and shortness of breath. Went to the GP yesterday who said this is normal.for covid now and to just rest. I am off work for a thrid week as I am still struggling with daily tasks.

Movinghouseatlast · 10/11/2023 10:42

After 3 and a half weeks I have had my first day when I wasn't in bed during the day.

I was honestly starting to feel I'd never get better. I still feel rough but can actually function at last.

Apparently ( from other threads I've read) I've just had a cold.

Travelban · 10/11/2023 11:55

@Movinghouseatlast you sound exaxtly like me. I am on day 16 and still struggle with daily tasks and spending most of the time in bed. Feeling rotten and worried about my future, long covid and never getting better!!

I have just had it, tested negative today. Would like to say I feel better but I am shattered. I felt ill-er this past week than I ever have before, the aches were indescribable and painkillers did not touch them. I was also very sick - with horrible pain just under my diaphragm. I still feel very burpy and have no appetite. This felt like no other cold, a bit like flu but with flu paracetamol often takes away the symptoms for a while. I am hoping I start to feel better soon…

Yesterday was day 26 for me, but I now feel I am going to get better! I went for a walk will no ill effects. Today I'd say I'm 80% of usual self.

Hope you get better soon!

Travelban · 11/11/2023 17:35

Hi all I posted on here when I had Covid a couple of months ago - it was pretty mild, and with gut symptoms as much as respiratory if anything. Took me a while to get my energy back though (I wouldn't say I was 100% there though pretty much able to do normal stuff most of the time now).

However I seem to have been left with a reduced tolerance for alcohol. I am not a big deinker but am used to being fine with a couple of glasses of wine or g and ts on weekend nights. But now I just cannot seem to process that second drink.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. It's not exactly a massive problem (especially now I think I have pinned down that its happening, easy enough to avoid) but it's not something id heard of.

Fwiw I am in my 60s

I tested positive yesterday (only tested because my elderly, frail mum broke her hip and had surgery to then got pneumonia in hospital so didn’t want to visit with Covid).

The only time I’ve ever felt so ill was when I had quincy as a child.

I’ve had Covid at least 4 times now and this is by far the worst.

Started with a sore throat Friday evening, woke up feeling slightly iffy yesterday morning. Started feeling more flu-y though the day. Woke up in the night because my nose was so blocked and felt dreadful. It’s just been getting worse through the day. I have body aches everywhere. My skin hurts. It hurts to move. I slept most of the day. I have a dry cough. Nausea on and off (think that may be because I haven’t had anything to eat and my stomach is empty). Can’t taste or smell anything. My nose is running like a tap.

Miserable! I have a four year old and I’m dreading the hour after school tomorrow before my husband comes home from work 🤦🏻‍♀️

I tested positive yesterday as well. I returned from UK on Friday evening and felt fine. Got up Saturday morning with a bit of a sore throat and headache and just thought it was down to the flights - I live in NZ. Woke up around 2am on Sunday morning and felt as though I had been run over. Joints ache, sore throat, headache, horrible cough etc.

If you are over 65 in NZ you are put on a course of antivirals so hoping they are going to make for a speedy recovery. I have not had Covid before so don't know if this is worse than the other variants or not, just know I do not want to catch it again. Covid and jetlag do not make good partners.

Now negative after 5 days, but I think I would've tested positive 2/3 days before, thought I had a cold after doing a bonfire on bonfire night. Started with sore throat nose congestion and runny nose. Chills. Had indigestion a lot, crop bra etc felt uncomfortable. Though today lots of pain under lower half of both breaststroke, was just left one. All 4 of our household ended up positive.
How have others dealt with the breast pain.
Taste still hit and a miss, did roast chicken yesterday looked and smelt nice.
But tasted like a sewer in my mind.

Waxlyrically · 16/11/2023 15:54

I’m pretty sure I picked it up at an event last Thursday. Started to feel off on Saturday evening with a scratchy throat. Sunday and Monday felt like a bad cold with increasingly sore throat but negative test. Tuesday raging sore throat aches and pains etc and tested positive. Wednesday and today are much the same . My throat is so sore and burning that I can’t even swallow my own saliva. I’ve had to resort to liquid paracetamol and even that is difficult to take. I think this is the first time I’ve had Covid so can’t compare it with anything.

sleepyscientist · 16/11/2023 17:59

I feel rough but not cold/flu like - stomach pains, racing heart, chest pain and shortness of breath. My immune system has had fun this time as it is the worst I've felt with it but also the shortest duration on day 4 and weakly positive expect a negative tomorrow. Still have a heart rate over 160 doing anything and short of breath, hopefully tomorrow is better. Just glad we have all got it out of the way before Christmas parties begin as we seem to get it every year around this time.

Marmunia10666 · 01/12/2023 09:57

Head cold, headache and stuffy nose, no cough or chest symptoms (unvaccinated).
