How is COVID presenting now?

I stopped following about covid and I'm wondering, how is it presenting now? What are peoples symptoms.

My mother was in town last week and so was I. I heard soany people with stuff and viral things and coughs. My mother has a sore throat now. She was definitely exposed to something whatever it is. Just wondering if COVID starts off as a sore throat?

DS16 has it now. Main symptoms are banging headache, sore throat, bit snotty and bunged up, high temperature, stiff neck and shoulders.

Covidwoes · 15/09/2023 15:23

I've started feeling nauseated with it today, which is not a symptom I've had the previous three times.

ClemFandango1 · 15/09/2023 16:54

Long shot, but has anyone heard of covid presenting with a horribly painful neck as sole symptom?

I'm suspicious because both my mum and childminder have also had bad necks within a week, and mine is quite debilitating.

It's unreal how there are many people who think covid is just a little cold when it's far from it for many many many people.

I don't have experience of what you are dealing with but hope you get well soon.

@Icecreamcoffee
I’m with you, it’s annoying.

Covid is a vascular disease and there is heightened risk of blood clots up to 6m after. Seen two women in thirties suffer aneurysms and die months after the “sniffle” they got subsided.

If anyone has long-standing symptoms like fatigue or any other long covid issues, please insist gp does your bloods to check you out.

Vast majority will be absolutely fine, but I don’t think it’s been communicated well enough to make people understand the need for heightened vigilance over their own health.

Covidia · 15/09/2023 17:13

On the bright side - I am finally starting to do better this time!! Much quicker than any of the other infections so hopefully it is getting milder.

ClemFandango1 · 15/09/2023 18:50

Thanks @Icecreamcoffee !
I genuinely thought I was going to have to call my mum to get the kids as I lay down and then spent 30 mins trying to move my head with no success.

I haven't had gastric symptoms before either.

Am feeling a bit more human today. The hip pain is bad though weirdly.

I haven't heard of neck pain with it but it friends on where it takes up residence possibly?

Yes, I developed a painful neck when I had Covid, still have it 6 weeks later but it’s a little easier now.

Chiaseedling · 16/09/2023 09:20

Started w high temperature, then it subsided and feels like a head cold.

Smoky1107 · 17/09/2023 22:33

I'm heading into week four, I still have a chest infection I can't shift and still feel just not right. The initial ten days were a breeze and everything after has been a battle!

Covidia · 17/09/2023 23:37

Oh don’t tell me that! Nearly finished the first ten days was hoping it was over!!

Tessisme · 17/09/2023 23:52

I'm just 'over' Covid now and although I was very lucky and had nothing more than a mild cold and a headache, as I mentioned upthread, I can't shake off the exhaustion and I'm getting palpitations. I do remember having this the last time I had Covid though (about a year and a half ago.)

Covidia · 18/09/2023 00:19

@Tessisme yeah I had the palpitations and fatigue too. Doc gave propanolol as heart rate was very high.

I don’t feel anything like as bad as I did last time and I hope it stays that way.

tiger2691 · 18/09/2023 21:02

I think I'm quite rare in suffering this symptom: constipation. Had it with the two az jabs, also when I had delta in November 2021 and this time around. It's severe as well, day 20 since testing positive, it's not easing. Another sign that covid attacks any weaknesses, I have a mashed lumbar spine, and stuff below my waist doesn't always work well plus I'm high risk cauda equina syndrome, which is weird because the opposite happens with cauda equina: complete and dramatic loss of the bowel movements and control, amongst many other nasty things.

candycane222 · 19/09/2023 09:07

Sorry so many are having such a rotten time with Covid this time around.

I tested positive yesterday but really not sure when it started - been feeling slightly 'off' for over a week, but then that hollow burning feeling in my throat arrived and - yup!

However so far its just like a mild head cold really. Mainly sneezing/blocked nose. I also have a lot of gas/belching and a bit of an over-busy bowel. No noticeable fever. I am crossing my fingers it doesn't get worse, as some of you here have been having a truly dreadful time - my sympathies.

Covidwoes · 19/09/2023 10:29

My test is now negative (checked as I have work tomorrow - teacher), but I've been left with dizziness. This isn't something I usually suffer from, so I can only guess it's Covid. I've also had dodgy bowels on and off as well. Arrrrgh.

mumof2many1943 · 19/09/2023 16:21

Felt really ill last week, DD Down Syndrome was coughing and sore throat. Both with temperature 38+. Both now feeling better but I still feel dizzy. No LFT’s but am sure it was covid. Hope everyone feels better soon.

SimianAway · 20/09/2023 09:41

Posted upthread as my son had it last week. He's much better now and back at school, but he does have a strange, lingering symptom - a raging thirst! Has any other recent Covid sufferers had anything similar? I'm starting to fret it's diabetes.

damsoncheese · 20/09/2023 12:03

Covid is associated with triggering diabetes (other viruses can do this too for some people), but no idea on what timescale, whether they mean immediately or in the months afterwards. Are there any other symptoms for diabetes that he's also got?

freespirit333 · 20/09/2023 12:12

Has anyone had the shits? DH had the shits all last week, finished Friday. I was relieved to have dodged it. Sunday late I had a mild cold, still mild Monday, bit worse yesterday. Today I have terrible shits, just had a positive LFT.

Monkeytennis97 · 20/09/2023 12:41

Got it now. Day 3. Foggy head, sinus pain, blocked ears, bunged up nose and then running like a tap, fatigue. Started with sore throat, temperature and achiness. Some coughing, less today than yesterday (dry cough). Ugh.

candycane222 · 20/09/2023 12:41

Not terrible shits @freespirit333 , but definitely abitloose, and a lof of bloating t the start. Seems quite a few people are affected thisway

candycane222 · 20/09/2023 12:54

Apologies my phone has gone all jittery so i posted before it lost the page again ..

Really? I had no idea! Off to Google, thanks so much for the heads up. He's only just got rid of Covid in the last few days, would it trigger diabetes so fast?? Will see if the thirst settles down and if it doesn't will make an appointment with the GP.
