If you didn't get the jab, would you consider having it now?

You'd better be quick if you're healthy and under 50...

"The Telegraph understands the Government is also preparing to wind down the open offer of the first two doses over the coming months. The move will mean unvaccinated healthy under-50s will soon not be able to get a Covid jab unless one is recommended by a medical professional."

@henleethanks for the clarity, it seems we are all just looking for information!

As far as I can tell the MEP is looking into the vaccination. Not sure why I need to lay out what she is investigating for other people? Everyone is welcome to do their own research as they say!

queriesqueries · 07/02/2023 08:57

I'm watching this video to find out more about this Andrew Bridgen person anyway. He seems to be asking questions about this topic:

Hmm

Asking questions, or helping Aseem Malhotra become one of the most prominent anti-vaccine figures in the UK (and beyond)

He is literally just repeating his nonsense.

Malhotra was making a career out of being a contrarian long before the pandemic.

The vaccines are some of the most heavily scrutinised public health intervention on the planet.

I get my information as new papers are published in the area, which update the current evidence base. If you are not in this area, you can get updates from the thousands of epidemiologists/other scientists who do work in science comminications.

As as has been said to you before - there is literally no new or emerging evidence suggesting vaccination of the general population was a mistkae.

I am very happy to update my opinion if there was, and as I've said to you many times, if you have something of substance, link it. But it's all waffle and vague suggestions.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 09:10

@Biochemist it seems we are all looking for information, hopefully someone will post some if it turns up (and hopefully it won't)? Otherwise there seems no point wasting energy arguing about stuff?

What do you think about Omnicron coming from mice? There is research to show that is the case? Do you think that might have been mice in a lab or in the wild?

Ok so now you've swerved from vaccines to COVID itself.

This is off the topic of the thread...

Why would you think omicron "came from mice", where SARS-COV-2 was already circulating, and the evolutionary history has been tracked since the original Wuhan variant?

Of course human to animal transmission was always a concern (hence guidance around pets when you have COVID) that could contribute to mutation, but it's a very small drip in the bucket when we were seeing millions of new human infections a day at one point.

I have heard lots of COVID/vaccine conspiracy theories, but never one that omicron came from lab mice.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 09:32

@Biochemist I'm not 'swerving' anything, interesting terminology!
That research paper says that it looks like Onmicron came from mice unless I am mistaken?
It's not a conspiracy, strange for you to instantly label at it such when asked about the topic and given a link to a research paper on the subject.
You like research, that is research and so I was interested in your thoughts on the matter?

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 09:38

It's really not helpful to instantly label something you don't know about a 'conspiracy theory' (and thus me a conspiracy theorist!), even when offered a proper research paper on the subject.
Rash judgments like this seem to be why there are so many arguments.
I wonder if you will apologise for this?

Well you are @HelpfulMonkey ?

It just looks like you searched for the first thing that goes against "mainstream" thinking re:COVID that you could link to a peer reviewed paper.

It's nothing to do with vaccines, this thread, or previous discussion.

It's not a conspiracy,
This seems a little disengous, given that the topic of whether SARS-COV-2 was deliberately released from a lab in China has been widely discussed.

You like research, that is research and so I was interested in your thoughts on the matter?
Yes - I gave you my thoughts - human to animal transmission already known a concern (mink culling, advice re: pets), but small factor compared to human-to-human transmission.

Extensive evidence base regarding the evolutinary history, contrasted to to publication where they do not have compelling evidence - it's simply specualtion based on the genetic sequence of omicron, means I do not give it a huge amount of credence.

You speculating it was leaked from a lab seems to not hold much weight either - labs are incredibly careful, even more so two years into a pandemic when the consequences of the first wave of transmission was known.

Nope, I reviewed the methods & results of the paper (presumably more than you have done), and constrasted it against the known evidence regarding the evolutionary history of SARS-COV-2 and gave you a summary

I wonder if you will apologise for this?

Hmm
HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 10:11

How am I a conspiracy theorist?!
Bizarre?
I just asked you a question?
Not sure how that research paper (with extensive references) is not a research paper either?
Because you don't like it?
Thanks for the word salad and the condescending tone, not sure what that is supposed to achieve?
How is anything ever supposed to be discussed with this level of pointless aggression for no reason?
I am afraid this behaviour does not make me take you seriously, despite what you have chosen to call yourself.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 10:15

Re: the lab leak theory, have you seen this video from someone in China?

It's not a 'conspiracy theorist' video, but made by someone in China who seems to know what they are on about, very interesting stuff...

I referred to the view (omicron leaked from a lab) as a conspiracy theory, not you as a conspiracy theorist

Not sure how that research paper (with extensive references) is not a research paper either?

Eh? I didn't say it was "not a research paper". I think you need to read my reply again.

And just because someone has correctly used referencing does not mean the paper is good quality, or that it is somehow more valid or impactful.

As said before, it just seems like you want to spam the thread with anything that goes against "mainstream" thinking, even if it's completely irrelevant.

Your youtube video link does not work....

So now you swerve onto something else - again nothing to do with vaccines, this thread or previous discussion - that the original SARS-COV-2 variant was leaked from a lab.

People get frustrated with your posts because you spam the thread with irrelevant content and make it impossible to read or engage with.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 10:33

@Biochemist I thought when you said "Well you are" you were saying I was a conspiracy theorist, sorry if I was mistaken.

I just clicked the video again and it works:

This is the video ID if you need, just put that after YouTube in the URL:
watch?v=bpQFCcSI0pU

Sorry if you perceive what I am doing as 'spamming' (again aggressive tone for no reason) @queriesqueries. It's a also a shame you feel this makes it 'impossible to engage with', but that is just your view, not necessarily reality.

Having a default setting of condescension and aggression is really baffling, hopefully some will find this information interesting, it seems to be what everyone wants - facts and not opinion!

Your links and posts have nothing to do with the OP or thread? @HelpfulMonkey

It's like me going onto any thread and suddenly deciding to post load of unrelated things - surely you can appreciate how it's irritating.

I appreciate you haven't got any replies to the two COVID threads you started yesterday, but you could always make a third on this topic rather than hijacking an existing one about vaccines.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 10:49

@queriesqueries sorry you find it 'irritating' that is not my intension and I cannot control your feelings!

I could make a third topic but it's not really necessary, there is a conversation here if people want it, if not, they can choose not to engage!

'Hijacking' and the intimation of attention seeking are baffling too - although if you like to style yourself as the thread police you are very welcome to...

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 10:50

Hope you find something interesting in the video if you can get the link to work now.

I just decided to disengage. It isn't worth the effort and I'm not convinced she's at all genuine. All the thread is about now is back-and-forth debates with this poster and that's what she intended, I think.

Yes I think that's a very good point!

sunglassesonthetable · 07/02/2023 12:08

*Someone told me there was going to be a name and shame campaign of the people who worked on all the Covid messaging - putting their faces on posters all over London so they have to atone for the damage they caused.

Wonder if that will happen to the bully posters on here, if they will get found and hounded for the damage they are doing?*

Not sure what is 'Orwellian' about taking on the government and fighting against injustice, I think it's more 'V for Vendetta'!

This poster is scattering a right wing agenda in the name of "oh just looking for information ". Literally day and night and on different threads.

It's casual insult after casual insult delivered with radar intent, coupled with faux naivety.

"oh I'm so sorry but everyone else is being so mean I'm just doing my best. "

Shit stirring disingenuous to the max. Something very off here.

And no I'm FINE cheers Monkey.

sunglassesonthetable · 07/02/2023 12:09

Que absolute nonsense incoming.

sunglassesonthetable · 07/02/2023 12:14

And Monkey literally no one says "hippies" anymore. You don't sound like you speak 1st language English despite being very articulate.

Talking about the "hippies" who told you to the bollox below. And you spouted on here.
And embellished. And wished on MN posters. ( nice)

As you have experience in "reputation management " as you said on another thread I'd give yours a go.

Yes. I've come to the same conclusion. Time to stop engaging in any kind of good faith with this poster. They're clearly lying about teaching English at university level and are either goading, a troll, terminally stupid or have mental health issues. From the timing of their last engagement with me, it doesn't seem like they slept last night, so I think time to step away and let their disingenuous posting of 'just looking for information' in inflammatory YouTube content fall into the void.
