If you didn't get the jab, would you consider having it now?

You'd better be quick if you're healthy and under 50...

"The Telegraph understands the Government is also preparing to wind down the open offer of the first two doses over the coming months. The move will mean unvaccinated healthy under-50s will soon not be able to get a Covid jab unless one is recommended by a medical professional."

You couldn’t pay me a million pounds to have that muck injected into me. Best decision I ever made not having it.

The problem is that the people who would be most likely to answer Yes are the ones who died of Covid.

Vaccinated people have died from covid too though. When they sent a letter and leaflet to me (to try to convince me to get vaccinated after I'd held out for ages) it even said in the leaflet that the vaccine was for people in certain groups.

Off the top of my head it was stuff like:

People with pre existing conditions
Overweight or obese
Over 60

There were a few more, but it didn't apply to me at all. I decided to take my chances with covid and I didn't even know I had it when I did get it.

The amount of people I know who took it so they could go on holiday blew my mind.

Nope. Never had one, not planning on getting one either as I was never really ill when I finally did get covid. The jabs don't cause you from getting it or passing it on. The variants now are weak and generally not life threatening, so not point really. Plus more and more medical professionals are questioning their need and safety. Everyone I know that's had the jab has been far more ill than me or my family who are all unjabbed.

That's a cute story that completely doesn't match up to the statistics, death outcomes, etc.

Why are antivaxxers both stupid and proud of it?

defi · 26/01/2023 13:31

Had the first two. Never bothered with flu jab before. Think I must have a pretty strong constitution as I've never caught either virus

pawprintseverywhere · 26/01/2023 13:34

Nope thanks I will continue to be the and I quote "Plauge loving over privileged stupid Christian girl" <--- I was known to be on the street back in 2021 😂😂

They are the only group who I know that had vaccines. For that reason only, even paid for the kids to get it so they could go on a Disney Cruise ... I shit you not that's true.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 26/01/2023 13:39

I’m over seventy. Never been ‘vaccinated ‘ against Covid, never had it , either.

so that would be a no , then.

Dacadactyl · 26/01/2023 13:41

@tonystarksrighthand it's mad isn't it?!

Although they shouldn't have had to pay for the kids to get it cos they rolled it out in schools for free.

I do know some people who got vaccinated because they were genuinely worried about their own health or that of poorly family members. And some people i know got it because they felt societal pressure.

But for people in my age group (I'm 37) lots of them seemed to have it for travel purposes.

MaverickGooseGoose · 26/01/2023 13:42

The only reason I would get it is if god forbid they brought in travel restrictions and you need proof of vaccine status

They did this for about 2 years?

toffeecocomars · 26/01/2023 13:45

No, f no. Never ever in my life

Parker231 · 26/01/2023 13:48

DH, DT’s and I are all fully vaccinated and had the boosters. If we hadn’t had them all, I’d be making an appointment ASAP.

Exactly.

The vaccine has done nothing to end covid, the war in Ukraine did it. Everyone got over their stupid little ways and realised what was more important, fussing over some stupid disease or war

I know. I had the first two and my DH had had all of them but I refused to get my kids vaccinated when it was offered to them. They've had all their other vaccinations, I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but I just didn't feel there was enough evidence on the Covid ones for me to get my kids vaccinated and I wasn't comfortable risking it when they had already had Covid anyway.

Loads of my friends felt the exact same way I did, but got their kids vaccinated anyway so they could go on holiday...

teapotfullofsquash · 26/01/2023 13:53

Never had it and never would have it.

Valhalla17 · 26/01/2023 13:54

No thanks. I've done fine without, as have all my family. I had covid for the 1st and only time in December 2021, it wasn't pleasant but not all that different to flu which I had probably 11yrs prior. I rested and recovered in a week. My family are all the same, covid once and recovery fine. The human body (if no underlying issues) does pretty well on its own.

All the people I know that have had the jab and multiple jabs, have been regularly struck down with it. I feel the constant jabs and booster only serves to weaken your immune system and makes you more vulnerable to things (from what I've seen).

stayathomegardener · 26/01/2023 13:55

www.vaxcontrolgroup.com/

I'd urge anyone unvaccinated to join the vaccine control group.

stayathomegardener · 26/01/2023 13:56

How crazy is it that I wouldn't have dared post that link on here last year.

It's a great study to benefit all.

Having the vaccine doesn’t weaken your immune system - the vaccine trains it how to work against Covid. The vaccine doesn’t stop you getting it but lessens the symptoms and hopefully keeps you from needing medical treatment or being admitted to hospital . Unfortunately the vaccine came too late to help two of my friends - they were healthy weight, not elderly and no underlying health conditions.

Absolutely vaccinated people died as well. But a proportion of the unvaccinated deaths would have been prevented if they had had the jab.

It's a bit like on the mirroring thread, where there are people who regret getting the jab because of side effects they experienced. In this case, the main demographic who would be likely to change their mind are dead. A fit, healthy antivaxxer isn't going to turn around and say 'You know what, I do regret not getting a jab that would have made zero difference to me.' Why would they?

Studies show that it does...a simple Google will tell you. Of course it must do! I'm sorry to hear of your friends Flowers

"The study showed that immune function among vaccinated individuals 8 months after the administration of two doses of COVID-19 vaccine was lower than that among the unvaccinated individuals."

Gosh that quote isn't clear reading to be honest, bad English! Should probably say "than among" to make it easier to absorb...

Ambertonix · 26/01/2023 14:28

Thanks but if i wanted it i would already have had it. I havent and have no intention of getting it either.

Yfory · 26/01/2023 14:31

Why would under 50s who didnt previously have it care now?

I had three as offered in 2021. Had Covid autumn 2022 and was really ill. I dont think the vaccines reduced how ill (I was really ill) I felt at all presumably because so much time had elapsed since me having the jabs.
