If you didn't get the jab, would you consider having it now?

You'd better be quick if you're healthy and under 50...

"The Telegraph understands the Government is also preparing to wind down the open offer of the first two doses over the coming months. The move will mean unvaccinated healthy under-50s will soon not be able to get a Covid jab unless one is recommended by a medical professional."

It wasn't a rabbit hole . It's on the other thread.

You said it🤷‍♀️ But my point is you DO know what I was talking about despite it being a throwaway remark.

And no you have never been polite - just insincere.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 00:39

@sunglassesonthetable I have no idea what you are trying to say or intimate about my intention, can you please be clear?

sunglassesonthetable · 07/02/2023 00:41

It's just a bit hectic having four different people coming at you at the same time all wanting something and I am not sure what it is?

I'm sure it is. You know what they say.

Chat shit get banged.

Not sure if English is your 1st language but thats a very concise example.

Good night.

It's just a bit hectic having four different people coming at you at the same time all wanting something and I am not sure what it is?

Ok, I'll try.

You posted this about the right wing MEP.

wasn't the best and there has been a lot of information on this thread about her so it would be interesting to learn more on this topic rather than answering lots of non questions here!

Either earlier in this thread or (I think) on another thread, you posted a fairly confusing word salad about how she must, as an MEP, be privy to information that we aren't. When people responded with explanations about her, her past statements, her background and proclivities and pointed out that there is much publicly available information by many experts, all of which points away from the vaccine being dangerous, you started going on with (false) allegations about suppression of alternative viewpoints, etc.

So, to get back to this post, in terms of us all wanting something, what does "it would be interesting to learn more on this topic rather than answering lots of non questions here" mean? What topic? The loony MEP? Her allegations? Her deep resources? There are way too many vague, but knowing hinted allegations in your posts for anyone to really engage with you.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 00:59

@CertainUncertain I don't want to engage with anyone or anything, I just want to go to bed and am not sure how this thread has sort of erupted.

@sunglassesonthetable I have no idea what you are on about?
Are you now threatening me?
"Chat shit get banged."?
I just don't understand what you are trying to do here?
Please just try and communicate clearly

Use your degree level

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 01:02

But I have now found out that the Vardy's have “Chat shit get banged” trademarked, while trying to make sense of all this and what it means!

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 01:03

What do you want @sunglassesonthetable what are you trying to say?
I really don't get it?

Well, then, I think you should go to bed. I'm in a different time zone at the moment.

But I do think if you put out stuff like this

Someone told me there was going to be a name and shame campaign of the people who worked on all the Covid messaging - putting their faces on posters all over London so they have to atone for the damage they caused.

Wonder if that will happen to the bully posters on here, if they will get found and hounded for the damage they are doing?

and then claim you don't want to engage with anyone or anything, and proclaim with faux innocence that you just can't understand why people are coming back at little old you, then you are actually just stirring shit and goading and not here for any real discussion.

Good night!

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 01:21

@CertainUncertain that was just a throwaway thing? A story I heard?
There is no faux innocence, I'm not trying to goad anyone, there just seems to have been a massive pile on, I'm trying to do the best I can to answer the questions that are asked of me and it's all gone a bit bonkers.

It was just a question, these are weird times, people are doing odd stuff, I have no idea what people get up to, there's lots of mental stuff going on out there, I can see that it could look weird but that was not my intention, I'm just curious about how all this stuff is playing out, asking questions, trying to get answers and find out facts and somehow it's become a massive agro fest!

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 01:29

I'm open and happy to discuss anything, just not sure what it is that I am now being accused of by @sunglassesonthetable

@CertainUncertain it certainly seems I have got your back up and for that I am sorry, not my intention at all, all this talk of "faux innocence" and "little old you" is a bit hectic, I have no idea what you are really on about.

I got told a story at a party, I repeated it here, just asking a question and all hell seems to have broken loose! It's just idle musing, nothing sinister, I haven't got time in my life for any crap at the moment so I'm not quite sure how this has gone on for so long, this is not my circus or my monkeys I'm just looking at what's going on and trying to make sense of it all

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 01:35

@CertainUncertain It was not my intention to 'stir shit' as you say, I just thought the thread I found of yours was interesting so thanks for tat, it was some entertaining reading inbetween getting attaked from all angles, no idea how you came into the conversation and at this point I'm not sure what is being discussed anyway, but I would like to know what @sunglassesonthetable seems to be accusing me of being paid for?!

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 01:41

@CertainUncertain I can't even remember who told me the silly story anyway, it was just some hippy activist types at a party in London talking crap and I sincerely doubt anyone on Mumsnet is going to end up getting stalked by randoms (and I really hope not as I have been stalked myself and that's a whole other story of mess and there is enough chaos and crap in the world without adding to it!)

Ok, even in a different time zone, I'm about to sign off for the night, and you should too. But before I do, I'm going to make this point. You posted

Someone told me there was going to be a name and shame campaign of the people who worked on all the Covid messaging - putting their faces on posters all over London so they have to atone for the damage they caused.

Wonder if that will happen to the bully posters on here, if they will get found and hounded for the damage they are doing?

When called out on that, you said,

I can't even remember who told me the silly story anyway, it was just some hippy activist types at a party in London talking crap

Now, ok, for arguments sake, let's say some 'hippy activist' at a party did tell you that. Now, I live in London and I go to a fair amount of parties, but no one's ever said anything remotely like that to me. But, if they did, I would stop and ask them

  1. where they heard that
  2. who, specifically, would all these shamed people be? Scientists who developed the vaccine? Downing Street spokespeople? Astra Zeneca executives?? Anthony Fauci? Chris Whitty? Boris Johnson? NHS doctors and nurses? The people who volunteered for clinical trials? The people who volunteered time and energy to administer the vaccines? Rishi Sunak who came up with the covid relief scheme?
  3. who would be running this campaign? Rishi Sunak (again)? The Daily Mail? Julia Hartley-Brewer? The BBC? Aseem Malhotra?
  4. for what purpose?
  5. specifically, what damage have they done, how has it been proven and/or quantified, and by whom? And are we assessing damage individually, or are they taken as a homogeneous group?

After I had asked these questions, I'm fairly certain I would have come to the conclusion that it was absolute shite. Actually, I'd have come to that conclusion before asking the questions, but I might entertain the vague hope that the person I was asking would, in attempting to answer, come to the same conclusion.

What I would not do is come on Mumsnet and repeat it. If I were minded to do that, I would not say

Wonder if that will happen to the bully posters on here, if they will get found and hounded for the damage they are doing?

because it's an unpleasant, bullying, threatening way to speak to people with whom you disagree. And it's disingenuous in the extreme to pretend you don't understand why you are being called out for that.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 03:00

Really hope that @sunglassesonthetable can clear things up in the morning and explain what they are in about anyway, it's all bene a bit confusing.

I'm sure you don't have any ill intent but I just don't get what you are on about really and so it would be helpful for communication if you were less obtuse if that's OK?

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 03:19

@CertainUncertain I totally get what you are saying, it's all just got a bit out of hand hasn't it?
I didn't have any ill intent, I am not completely sure what you are accusing me of, I am just attempting to answer questions when asked and deal with things as they come. I have no wish for harm to come to anyone. From what I recall this was about people in advertising agencies working on the publicity campaigns for the Covid stuff. Ad agencies are faceless but some people created the messaging that was all about killing granny or whatever that upset a lot of people, so it was the people from the ad agencies that were to be 'named and shamed'.
I hope that explains that bit. The idea being that they had done something bad and so should be held accountable for it I suppose?

As for the 'unpleasant, bullying, threatening' bit, that wasn't my intention either, I see what you are saying but I was simply musing on a 'fighting fire with fire' scenario. I don't want anything bad to befall anyone, whatever their views. It is strange I appear to be being 'called out' in what is quite a bulling way about talking about online bullying too!

Thank you for taking the time to spell out what you are thinking, I hope I have been clear in return. I am sorry you feel I am being disingenuous, it's all just been a bit hard to follow having lots of different people having a go late at night.
I still think your thread was interesting by the way and good night to you too, your clarity is much appreciated.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 04:46

And thanks again @CertainUncertain, looking back, several times I have been trying to fend off @sunglassesonthetable and it has looked like I was replying to you instead, and so you replied to things that I meant for them which has made things even more complicated.
You have been very patient and reasonable, even when you have been insulting me and that has sort of been helpful if that makes sense! I have certainly not tried to post 'confusing word salad' as you put it, just do what I can at the time.

MinkyGreen · 07/02/2023 06:55

Posting links to a far right extremist source IS going to get people’s heckles up. You’ve got to understand that. She’s not just an MP with a view. Her views her heavily biased.

I’d love to see a credible, free from bias source that backs vaccine hesitancy.

The point is that the best/free from bias source is : consensus science. Just the whole word consensus means majority opinion. It’s the biggest pool of expert minds, conclusions from studies and peer reviewed evidence.

Unless you want to be anti-science!

Which I’d suggest is a more extreme economic argument : why are we spending so much money on the weak/ill. I have no doubt that is where that politician is coming from. It’s a very right wing view.

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 08:27

@MinkyGreen What about Andrew Bridgen, he asked questions in Parliament I believe? Was there no content to what he actually said?
It seems there was no one in the house for the 'debate' and he got a telling off for something unrelated but this doesn't mean there was no substance to the questions he wanted to raise?

Still don;t fully understand how her views (which seem to be basically sticking up for people and wanting to look into the situation) can be 'heavily bias?
How can it be bias to want information?!

Maybe someone else will be able to post a 'credible' source about vaccine hesitancy? It seems to be what a lot of people are looking for but there is a problem with internet platforms banning any kind of talk on the matter so it makes the whole issue rather problematic - if any kind of talk about it results in a ban (and posters on here trying to get people banned for talking about it even!) then how will one be able to find any information?

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 08:39

Also @MinkyGreen you come across as a sensible poster, can you work out what @sunglassesonthetable was getting at / intimating that I was doing last night? I can't make head nor tail of it, they were being very vague and sort of accusing me of something but wouldn't say what it was?

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 08:43

And I'm certainly not anti-science! Love a peer reviewed paper as much as the next person!
So you think this MEP is questioning the vaccine because she doesn't want any money to be spent on sick people, not because she wants to protect people?

henlee · 07/02/2023 08:48

Literally no one has suggested this as a reason this MEP has fallen down an anti-vaccine rabbit hole?

HelpfulMonkey · 07/02/2023 08:52

@henlee I thought that was what @MinkyGreen meant by "Which I’d suggest is a more extreme economic argument : why are we spending so much money on the weak/ill. I have no doubt that is where that politician is coming from. It’s a very right wing view."
Apologies if I misconstrued that?

I'm watching this video to find out more about this Andrew Bridgen person anyway. He seems to be asking questions about this topic:

henlee · 07/02/2023 08:52

What about Andrew Bridgen, he asked questions in Parliament I believe? Was there no content to what he actually said?

Correct - there was no evidence behind anything he was saying. He simply repeats Aseem Malhotra's claims, who again, if you actually follow them back, have no substance.

Still don;t fully understand how her views (which seem to be basically sticking up for people and wanting to look into the situation) can be 'heavily bias?
Obviously it not not "bias" to want information, which is why mutliple posters have asked how she is conducting her information, what she is actually evaluating that hasn't been scrutinised by ten of thousands of medics and scientists already.

You've already been asked multiple times what she's actually claiming, what aspect of vaccination is she investigating but can't seem to answer.

f any kind of talk about it results in a ban (and posters on here trying to get people banned for talking about it even!)
As has been said, to death at this point, of course you can talk about and have opinions on vaccination. If you repeatedly post fake claims about vaccines, MN will delete or eventually ban. Their are a company, are therefore allowed their own policies on what they allow as content, and anti-vaccine disinformation is a harmful (and lucrative) industry.
