I'm 53, no health issues and tested positive on Tuesday for the 1st time. I'm triple vaccinated and I feel absolutely awful, I can't stop coughing, I ache, I'm tired, no appetite and just want it to be over. Paracetamol does nothing, I feel panicked when I'm coughing to. I can breathe OK without tightness or wheezing which is a relief. I really hope its not worse tomorrow as its grim now. My 15 year old DD is on day 6 and she was really poorly to, it knocked her off her feet and she's very fit and healthy. I just need a handhold I think to see me through 😊

Day 23!!!! Have been left feeling very dizzy/nauseous, heart palpitations, headaches, diarrhoea and anxiety....if I wasn't self employed I would still be off work but I went back on day 10. Anyone else feeling like this this far down the line...it's really getting me down

Crikeyalmighty · 09/10/2022 18:48

@2anddone Yes me too-I'm actually making an appointment next week as the spacey dizzy feeling is there most of the time- as well as odd bouts of mild numbness in one leg and foot very unpleasant and I've had it around a month now. Im checking out if it could be something else as well because it's been going on for such a long time

2anddone · 09/10/2022 18:52

@Crikeyalmighty sounds similar to me (without the numbness) I was prescribed tablets to get rid of the nausea/dizzy feeling but they only last 2 1/2 hours before I need to take another and I am only supposed to take 3 a day....have had that by 2pm!! Hoping they up my dose I have a phone appointment with my dr on the 18th but want to try and get one earlier. Sat watching tv last night and a wave of dizziness came over me just sat still which scared me!! Even being on my phone/laptop makes me feel sick

Furcoatandnoknickerz · 09/10/2022 18:52

@2anddone Oh blimey, I hope you soon see some improvement. What you describe is exactly how I’m feeling, I can’t imagine feeling better for quite some time either.
I’m on a zero hr bank contract, but I’m being treated like I’m contracted with sarcastic texts from my supervisor, I’m tempted to tell her just to take me off any further rotas as I don’t need the stress. I’ll probably be told I’m sacked but hey ho.

2anddone · 09/10/2022 18:55

@Furcoatandnoknickerz sorry to hear you sound in a similar situation to me (but reassuring I am not the only one) I am a childminder and don't feel safe doing my job but can't afford to stay closed for an extended period of time

RaininSummer · 09/10/2022 22:54

Still feel pretty grotty on about day 13 I think. Still coughing with headache land very tired. Am on annual leave this week til Friday as was supposed to be on holiday. Just going to use the leave now to hopefully recover as can't have more sick time.

Has anyone had dizziness/ floaty head feeling?! I’m about a week into it now, the dizziness only started a couple of days ago but I can’t seem to shift it. Any tips?!

Any dizziness I’m getting (and I’ve had a range of symptoms for two weeks now) is no different to what I occasionally get even when I’m not ill. But I have a cotton wool feeling in my head and the tinnitus is just not calming down. Going nearly mad with it.

I think many of the symptoms are a side effect of dehydration. So that’s my only advice - drink a little more water than you normally would.

@C1239 me!! Mine has been horrendous I have had to close today (am a childminder) as I feel so dizzy I don't feel safe to care for the children. I was prescribed Betahistine 8mg but spoke to dr this morning and he had upped me to 16mg 3 times a day plus is seeing me Thursday....he mentioned I could have long Covid.

RaininSummer · 10/10/2022 22:36

Really bored with this illness now. 2 whole weeks and I still feel horrible. As I am on leave now rather than sick as was supposed to on holiday,, I went out to get some shopping and get my glasses fixed and was all hot and dizzy. Felt very spaced out . Got to go back to work on Saturday so hope feel better by then as brain is so foggy still and cough is irritating. Just dreading getting up at 7 and walking to work. Waah.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 11/10/2022 07:15

@RaininSummer I feel your pain. So fed up of feeling unwell.

Fivehares · 11/10/2022 08:36

I’m day 6 now and cough is well improved chest pain is gone , fatigue is still with me although I managed a stroll with the poor dog this morning . It’s all up in my head now , ears feel funny and head all fluffy .

i have been taking lots of stuff which I think have helped , lemsips every 4 hours but cutting back to twice a day now I think . Piriton and nytol at night time . Not sure if this is advised but it’s helping me sleep . Might cut back tonight on the nytol . Could be the reason for fuzzy head maybe . Wishing you all well soon . It’s most awful dose I ever had .

C1239 · 11/10/2022 20:49

For those of you with like a fluffy / foggy head does it feel a bit dizzy like? Day 8 today and I’ve still got a weird head.

Furcoatandnoknickerz · 11/10/2022 22:04

@C1239 Yes definitely dizzy, ok when sat down, soon as get up and move about it starts.

2anddone · 12/10/2022 11:45

@C1239 definitely dizzy feeling especially when moving...though I have had a couple of episodes just watching tv!! Dr has given me some tablets to help now but at its worst I couldn't even look at my phone or computer screen

C1239 · 12/10/2022 12:57

What days are you on @Furcoatandnoknickerz @2anddone ? It’s frustrating, I hope it goes soon

2anddone · 12/10/2022 12:59

@C1239 day 26!! I gave in in the end and went to the dr for some tablets which seem to be helping

Furcoatandnoknickerz · 12/10/2022 16:03

@C1239 I’m on day 16, had a video call from a gp this morning, want me to have a face 2 face for tests next week. Can’t get a bloody appointment.

foxlover47 · 12/10/2022 20:20

I tested positive on Sunday , I'm struggling massively with the sleeping ! I lay down and have the worst shooting / stabby pains in my
Shins and calf's and can't switch off to sleep at all
Getting a lot of cramp too in my
Right leg which is so painful after ... never had that before !
Generally feel
Muzzy headed , weak , headache , slight sore throat and chesty cough
Never had it before

2anddone · 13/10/2022 12:28

Been to Dr today he says that he thinks my ongoing dizziness is a form of vertigo which escalates during periods of infection/unwell. The tiredness etc is a hangover from Covid and I just need to rest as much as possible. Blood tests booked for next Wednesday and follow up appointment Thursday of half term let's hope this is the start of feeling better!! Any of you still struggling I really urge you to book an appointment

RaininSummer · 13/10/2022 17:56

Day 15 and seem to turning a corner. Still coughing and tiring easily though.

QuietNeighbour · 13/10/2022 18:44

More than two weeks after the positive and I feel much better generally. Less cotton wool head but still very loud tinnitus and feel fatigued and lacking focus.

TofuonToast · 13/10/2022 18:54

Okay - weird one - did anyone get any trouble with wisdom teeth triggered by covid??

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/10/2022 19:10

Day 16 and still feel quite rough. Blocked up nose feels like it is here to stay apart from briefly last night, when it unblocked and I was a total snotmonster (glorious I know). Coughing still and feel drained but I can do a bit more round the house.

No problems with wisdom teeth.

QuietNeighbour · 13/10/2022 19:16

My wisdom teeth are removed (well, filed down to below the gum line but that’s another story) and the spaces where they belong often hurt with any sinus pressure. I did need sinus relief medicine for a period of this illness
