Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

just popping back in to say that I had a faint positive today, which means I have to isolate until Friday which will be a full ten days after my first day of symptoms (first day of symptoms being day Zero).

I’ve worked again today (WFH) but my brain definitely isn’t functioning at its usual speed. I’m being careful about only trying to attempt one task at a time.

My stomach has been slightly uncomfortable/ gurgly and I’ve been wondering if a third phase of covid might be starting. It makes you paranoid.

Francophilia · 30/06/2022 08:53

I tested positive on Monday and after feeling like a had a particularly bad feverish headachy cold for 2 days am feeling much better (85% normal).
The rest of the family (all triple jabbed) also has/ have had it over the last week and average time of feeling too ill to work was 3 days.

Our symptoms have been:
Sore scratchy throat
Persistent headache
Very tired
Feverish/ sweaty/achey
Runny nose and stuffy bunged up feeling
Slight cough

I just feel slightly chesty (with a sexy voice!) today, feel fine in myself.

I hope this helps any anxious people as reading most of the posts on this thread you’d be forgiven for thinking it was still significantly worse than a heavy cold for most, which certainly hasn’t been the case for us.

picklemewalnuts · 30/06/2022 10:39

My household of 4, the youngest two have been absolutely' just a heavy cold'. Though they'd usually shrug a cold off, not complain of tiredness a week later.

DS2 had it first, and about 12 days later has just been jogging for the first time, and managed the same level as before.

DH has WFH throughout, but had afternoons off. He's had a few afternoon naps and is a bit of a martyr! Says he's tired though.

No one's really been significantly off their food, just the odd meal skipped.

I've had the weird add on symptoms- including weird smells, now. But I have Fibro too, which definitely complicates the 'bouncing back' factor.

Phrenologistsfinger · 30/06/2022 10:44

Positive today! Congested lungs, bad cough, queasy and tired, achey and runny nose. Also bad uterine cramps but am also in the 2ww so who knows…

LIZS · 30/06/2022 10:46

Awful night's sleep, continuous cough, mind racing, unable to settle. Feel weary and achy today.

Meowser72 · 30/06/2022 11:01

Still testing positive on day 9 :-(
Also, I've been feeling fine these past few days but today feel absolutely knackered and slightly sick.

Exactly. Gone back into work today and wish I hadn't. Knew I should have left till next week 😫

The terrible headache I had yesterday has gone and not quite so achey but feeling it in my hips. Feeling more coldy today. Also getting quite bad heartburn which I don't often get. Has anyone else experienced heartburn?

Horrendous heartburn!! I suffer from it anyway but this time it's really ramped up.

Neowwwm · 30/06/2022 16:18

Day 4 of positive tests and I slept like a baby again last night. Wish I knew if it was the medicine, sleep tea or just luck!

The gnawing upper stomach pain seems to be eased today - I'd say that's been the worst symptoms for me! Smell still gone, taste pretty much gone though suspect that is linked to smell!

I may attempt some work tomorrow but have really tried not to rush into anything too mentally taxing

RedorangeyellowBLACK · 30/06/2022 19:52

Has anyone else had any issues with their periods? I eventually tested positive this morning after feeling very crappy for a few days. I am on my period but it has been very heavy despite having a uterine ablation in April so I wasn’t expecting a heavy bleed. It could of course mean the ablation has failed (knowing my luck!) but 14 year old dd has just began her period even though her last one was two weeks ago and she normally only has it every 28/30 days. I just wonder if this virus has messed things up? I vaguely remember reading something last year but wondered if that was the vaccine rather than the actual virus?

Cocolapew · 30/06/2022 20:04

I tested positive this morning after feeling ill for a couple of days. My throat is killing me, I also have had terrible toothache.
I also have woke up with a swollen jaw and I'm unable to open my mouth fully.
The dentist has given me 2 sets of antibiotics and told me if I feel worse to go straight to hospital in case I've developed sepsis. One I'm negative I can go straight down to hopefully get the wisdom tooth causing the problem out

Travelban · 30/06/2022 20:10

Update from me, day 10 and still testing as a strong positive.
Feel better but my chest feels tight and I have an annoying, productive cough which is making me feel crap. Still weak but working from home.
I would be much better if it wasn't for this cough.

CraftyGin · 30/06/2022 20:31

Day 17 now. Was negative day 11, but still incredibly tired. I also have a sore throat and have developed a wheeze.

Coughing fits are no joke when you have had five children.

I think most of us are going through a reasonably normal, if unpleasant, cold - but much longer than normal.

Perfectlystill · 30/06/2022 21:22

Wow that drip sounds great @mrsfeatherbottom - I hope it helps you

I also have tooth pain , not sure if from wisdom tooth erupting or just tooth pain from covid. Is this a new symptom for covid?

Perfectlystill · 30/06/2022 21:26

I'm day 11 and still quite tired, with a badly affected sense of smell and taste. I can smell, but only some things, and they don't smell like they normally do.

I did two mornings in the office this week as I felt under pressure to go in, but it really took it out of me. I've wfh today instead and feel so much better. I also managed to cycle a couple of miles to the supermarket and back.

My aim is to test enough that the tiredness doesn't drag on for two months like it did last time.

Does anyone have any idea how long our immunity might last? We are off to Portugal mid August and I'm hoping that having covid now means we're unlikely to have it then...

I had tooth/gum pain for about 4 days but it eased up eventually. I was rinsing my mouth with Corsodyl which seemed to help a bit. Such random symptoms!

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 30/06/2022 23:41

Oooh interesting to see tooth/gum pain. I tested positive on Tues but had toothache & gum sensitivity over the weekend.
I've felt much better today (only need a 1hr nap during wfh) but throat feels scratchy this evening.

Firesidefox · 01/07/2022 11:36

Day 12 and I'm testing negative! Hurray! But still feeling tired and heavy.

Still, I thought I would never test negative again so be gone, vile virus!

Annonnimoouse42 · 01/07/2022 12:08

strong positive today, day 4. Have been feeling rough but thought it was a Sjögrens syndrome flare, as that makes me feel like I have flu.
symptoms are very sore swollen throat and glands, really intense bone ache, cough and fatigue

Went to see ABBA in Sunday night so presumably caught it there. It was worth it though.

Seeingadistance · 01/07/2022 12:39

I’m on Day 4. Tested +ve late on Monday night. Days 1 and 2 - the most horrific sore throat and pain on swallowing. Bit of lower back pain and sore hips. Day 3 - throat pain subsided to ‘normal’ pain, but lower back and hips extremely sore with constant dull ache. Today - back and hips feeling fine, throat much better, but am still hoarse and now getting breathless quickly when I talk.

Symptoms seems to change every day - one thing stops or eases and something else takes over. But overall, on the mend.

mrsfeatherbottom · 01/07/2022 13:12

I'm day 8 and two days since the antibody treatment and have definitely turned a corner. Still utterly exhausted and congested but a million times better than the beginning of the week.

I've reached that annoying stage of recovery when I'm recovered enough to notice that the house is an absolute shit pit but not well enough to do anything about it.

I just put a wash on and needed to have a lie down.

WhenDovesFly · 01/07/2022 13:34

My 23yo DD tested positive today. She started symptoms at the start of the week with a cough which quickly developed into cold symptoms. She had two negative tests before today's positive.

Last night and today I feel incredibly tired and very slightly as though I have a cold coming. I'm triple jabbed but it's been months since my booster so the effectiveness is probably wearing off. I'm resigning myself to testing positive in the next few days Sad

Firesidefox · 01/07/2022 15:15

This is a really interesting article about 'medium covid' which makes sense to me: www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2022/03/17/1083040162/long-covid-symptoms?t=1656681792470

LIZS · 01/07/2022 15:21

Head feels clearer today. Thought I had slept more solidly but woke early and coughed for an hour so was quickly tired again. Sinuses blocked too. Ds seems much perkier with just the occasional cough.
