Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

Day 9 now for me. Just done another test for work thinking it would be almost negative by now. It's as dark as anything again. Yet the previous couple of days had been much lighter. I haven't felt significantly ill with it and aside the temperature, headache and muscle aches the first couple of days from testing positive I've had worser colds. Yesterday I felt a bit crap with what felt like hay fever symptoms and today I feel a bit sniffly again but certainly didn't expect the test to go darker again.

Dd had a dry throat and slight cough Sunday night. Monday she was as white as a sheet, very tired and had a back ache, she tested negative (we were all driving back from a weekend away so stuck in the car together for 5 hours). Yesterday morning she felt better and this time tested positive.
Last night dh and I felt like crap. Restless and hardly any sleep, hot then chilly, my belly is gurgling lots (but I do have IBS), feel nauseated, skin feels tender (like sunburn) and headachy (like we haven’t slept for days). I’ve got up this morning and now have a hacking cough. Neither of us have a high temp although dd did.
But I’ve done two LfT this morning and they are both negative.
This is our first experience with Covid (16 year old ds has had it twice but we evaded it up till now).
Is it possible to have these symptoms, actually have Covid yet test negative?

My guess, based on the experiences of various posters in this thread, is that you’ll both test positive tomorrow or Friday.

RedorangeyellowBLACK · 29/06/2022 10:34

HoopLaLah it does seem to be the way. Ds had it in March and had 2 negatives then a positive.

WingingItSince1973 · 29/06/2022 12:21

HoopLaLa I was just coming to ask the same. Covid has swept through dh family and our friends. Although we've kept away we did meet up a few times when they seemed better. But Monday I woke up drenched but absolutely freezing which is not like me. Felt so rough, extremely tired
Managed to have a shower but ended up on sofa all day. Neg test. Yesterday woke up same but then fell back into what felt like a coma till 130pm when my eldest dd woke me. She said she had been trying to wake me for ages and was getting worried. Kidney pain started but I do get that when run down. Throat itchy, head like its in a bag, body a bit achey but then again I get that with fibro. Oh forgot the two days leading upto Monday I had really aching legs. Today still test neg although woke up same as previous days and feel wiped out. Throat little sore and infrequent coughs. Really want a shower but don't feel like I have the energy. Just going to sit on sofa again today. Again negative! I'm worried as my dd has a series of hospital and doctors appointments starting Friday, sat and then next Thursday so could do without this! Maybe I have a summer cold and will continue to be negative. Oh and kidney pain again this morning x

WingingItSince1973 · 29/06/2022 12:23

Meant to add feel like somethings brewing on my chest x

elephantmarchingin · 29/06/2022 12:34

Well I'm still testing positive but today is day 7 so we have emerged from isolation. All of my friends have tested positive for days and days so we are going on what is left of our holiday but staying away from people (self catered, driving in car, surrounded by quiet beaches)

picklemewalnuts · 29/06/2022 13:42

Sounds sensible, @elephantmarchingin . Take masks, for when you need to go in a shop for example?

I'm day 10ish now, and feel so much better.

My chest is a bit tight, and I am still getting random stomach aches after food- like tight, stabby cramps.

I was interested in what a PP said about feeling sunburned. My skin felt a size too small, early on. That eased reasonably quickly.

I've also had a cracking headache and migraine feeling, on and off.

In fact, I'm wondering if I had it, or fought it off, earlier than I tested. I had the first migraine in years a couple of weeks ago, then Covid a week later. Makes me a bit suspicious, even though I got it from my son later. Hmm.

LondonWolf · 29/06/2022 13:55

I'm struggling most with a chemically taste/smell in my mouth and nose. It's making me feel a bit sick and totally off food.

mrsfeatherbottom · 29/06/2022 15:04

I'm currently sitting in the Covid outpatients on the antibody drip. God bless drugs (and the NHS). So glad I got it now and not two years ago!

picklemewalnuts · 29/06/2022 15:18

Oh dear, MrsFeatherBottom! I hope you feel much better soon.

LIZS · 29/06/2022 15:18

Feel generally worse than yesterday, like a heavy head cold, less coughing now but more runny eyes and nose. Think I am losing my voice but limited ccntact anyway.

LIZS · 29/06/2022 15:19

Hope it works for you @mrsfeatherbottom

I'm interested in the antibody drip @mrsfeatherbottom (and slightly envious!)

Can I ask what it does - I guess it's designed to help and speed up your own immune defence? And how do you get it?

I've had covid twice in three months and am a bit depressed at the thought of that going on in the future. Would like to know if there's anything I could do to minimise the downtime - I was exhausted for two months after the last infection and feel sure I'm going to have the same this time round...

This is what I had:

www.nhs.uk/medicines/sotrovimab/about-sotrovimab/

I'm classed as vulnerable because of a neuromuscular condition. As soon as I logged my positive test, I was contacted to say that I was eligible and I got a phone call from a doctor on day 4 to see how I was. I was told to call them by Tuesday if I wasn't improving, which i wasn't. In fact, I felt worse each day.

So, I went in for 2 hours and was monitored closely - the drip took half an hour. No side effects and I already feel more human, but not sure if that's psychological!

LIZS · 29/06/2022 19:30

I didn't think you could log tests anymore, or do you get a nhs batch?

mrsfeatherbottom · 29/06/2022 19:45

I'm in NI so we still have to test with symptoms and log and isolate for 10 days!

Fuckitydoodah · 29/06/2022 20:13

The terrible headache I had yesterday has gone and not quite so achey but feeling it in my hips. Feeling more coldy today. Also getting quite bad heartburn which I don't often get. Has anyone else experienced heartburn?

Neowwwm · 29/06/2022 20:45

I have a very gassy bloated feeling just below my breastbone, sometimes feels crampy. It's the things that's making me feel most abnormal! Taking wind settlers and ulcer medication as feels so similar to when I had an ulcer years ago. Everyone keeps mentioning stomach pains but to me that suggests around the belly button area and not the top of abdomen.

picklemewalnuts · 29/06/2022 21:42

My stomach ache is at the waist, quite central, after eating. As though my stomach or upper gut has spasmed.

And oddly, my hips hurt too! I'd put it down to lack of activity.

Same here but also higher up too and sort of spreading round to my back. My hips were very painful yesterday and I couldn't get comfortable.

Neowwwm · 29/06/2022 22:03

Sounds like where mine is.

Constantly feels like a big burp coming, temporary relief when I do burp! How would you describe yours?

maeveiscurious · 29/06/2022 22:35

Day 8 negative taste is back but weird, I'm craving sugar in a big way.

Overall feel much better but I don't feel like myself.

Ginqueen1 · 29/06/2022 22:59

Finally got a negative test today on day 13. Feel so much better but still no sense of smell or taste. I’m really hoping that comes back soon. It’s depressing not being able to enjoy food. I keep dreaming of what I’ll eat first when it does come back. Hope you all feel better soon x
