Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

Anyone got itchy, tickling in their inner ears? It's driving me crazy!

Just wondered if anyone else experienced this. Tested positive last Monday, started to feel a lot more normal on Sunday (still with some congestion symptoms). Went back to WFH yesterday but in the evening I felt wiped out and I've felt drained today and gotten worse throughout the day. I'm now feeling just awful, so tired achy and generally bad. I thought I was over the worst of it so it has me a bit worried just how rubbish I feel.

I think post viral issues are common
Really pace yourself x

My youngest finishes school next Friday and we are due to go on holiday the week after (UK)

I intend to do very little between now and then!

I'm pottering around the house but it's tricky with dh wfh atm.

I cleaned the bathroom yesterday small wins

Day 2 of testing positive, probably 3rd day of symptoms. Hard to breathe through nose due to congestion, hard to breathe through mouth coz of sore throat and cattarggh irritation. Legs ache, temp comes and goes, head woolly.

Went to sleep at 11 am last night, back up 3.30 til 6 then grabbed another few hours before waving kids off to school through the bedroom door 😥

To make matters worse, seem to have a side effect or bad luck, of what feels like a stomach ulcer. Forced a Lemsip Max down last night - it tasted vile and I used to love them as a kid - which massively helped Covid symptoms but within 10 minutes started having weird cramps gas feeling in upper stomach, like tummy builds pressure to gurgle but doesn't subside. Darent take any medication or lemsip tablet versions I have since had bought for me and now taking ulcer medication.

Had a bath this morning. Trying to stay off phone but cannot get into anything on TV. Tried some books I haven't read yet but they were meh so back to phone screen for kindle app and trying sample after sample for something I can relate to and get lost in.

I can wfh in bed but haven't yet as feel too rough and fuzzy headed though may start tomorrow as I can do the less taxing stuff.

DH not half as sympathetic as I was when he had it and quarantined for 13 days despite not being unwell and is inconvenienced that he had to have work agree to different hours around school pick up and drop offs whilst pointing out to me now that if he had it he would be expected to go to work still...feels unfair and wish isolation was compulsory so he wouldn't be able to act as if this is a choice I'm making. Grandparents nervous to do school run and risk picking up covid, others childcare helper is pregnant so there is only us.

Whoops - rant over!

Spagnolia · 28/06/2022 16:15

I caught the cold DH brought back with him from a US conference a few days ago and made the mistake of using the test I found at the back of the bathroom cabinet when looking for a lem-sip- it was immediately very positive!
Day 3 and so far it just feels like a cold- sore throat, runny nose, aches, headache.
DH didn’t test and won’t test.

picklemewalnuts · 28/06/2022 16:17

That's rubbish, @Neowwwm !

If it's any comfort to anyone, I still felt pants yesterday but today I'm feeling so much better! I tested +ve last Monday.

Mummy289 · 28/06/2022 16:17

@Neowwwm aww it’s so difficult. Luckily my husband is one of the lazy lot that the government was trying to make sound like bums a little while ago, and works for the council and luckily works from home. His taking all his lunch breaks to get the kids I couldn’t of done a school run safely. We have no family to help out either.
the dizziness and light headedness is getting to me. I have a baby to look after too which I’m finding difficult although blessed I breastfeeding as I couldn’t get up and make bottles lol.

Oh that's tough, I bf through a flu pre-covid, absolute hellish as DC woke 3 hourly and then you're trying to not to breathe on them and can't get your own comfy position! You're doing amazing! Glad your DH has a decent work around. I shouldn't complain as though clearly frustrated by his own situation, DH is still allowing me to rest and meeting my basic needs, going to shops for meds etc.

I feel washed out now, unsure if a nap would be an own goal and keep me up this evening...

I foolishly thought my test today may have been a fainter line and I'd peak in a day but its darker, now gambling on if it will get to the purple black shade or if I'm already 'peak covid'

I'm not testing again...
I'm on day 8 since + test and so Thursday is freedom day for me!
(I'd read some people can test + for weeks!)
Dh and ds1 testing negative now :)

Fordian · 28/06/2022 16:52

I tested positive today. DH tested +ve on Saturday. Not sure where from, possibly a work conference?

I feel like shit. I ache, I have a pounding headache, my face is running, my ears are sore, I'm coughing like mad; I woke at 4.40am and haven't slept since.

I have to stay off as I'm front line NHS, retest on day 5 and 6, if both neg, I can go back to work if I'm well enough. I can't see me being over this by next Monday!

I bought a big stash of tests when they started getting sold off cheap at end of last wave and have found it interesting watching the line colour/thickness change on my families own bouts of covid. Yep I'm that level of weird! Once I'm feeling better, regardless of testing I will walk school runs and wear masks if I have to do shop runs. Will avoid office and indoor family/friends visits until at least Day 10, longer to 14 days if unwell or testing pos still, happy to do my bit to help to offset those who have no choice/reason to do the same!

Wish I'd thought to do that..its cost us a fortune in tests!

Has anyone got better then deteriorated again? (Yes my anxiety is back through the roof)

Today is day 6 and apart from a bit of a cough and a fuzzy/heavy head/sinus feeling I'm feeling much better and line is getting fainter.

I'm worried that I'm not going to be ok though as I've read about people having a couple of good days then going dramatically downhill.

Need a bit of a handhold tonight!

I think its twofold tbh;
People rushing back into their normal activities and their progress regressing and pre vaccines (2020) some people didseem to go downhill about day 7...you don't seem to gear much about that anymore though...

jano69 · 28/06/2022 20:58

I'm on Day 8, feel pretty much my old self now, but still tired and looking forward to going to bed early again tonight. I'm still testing positive but hoping that pesky second red line will clear tomorrow. Worked from home yesterday and today.

Elephant, I think the downhill thing around Day 7, was very much a pre vaccine thing. Keep taking it easy and you should be fine.

LIZS · 28/06/2022 21:06

Tested positive this am after a night of coughing and sore throat since Sunday. Ds tested positive on Saturday having been ill for a couple days but tested negative on Thursday even though he was similar to post Moderna booster, He must have picked it up at an event on Monday. I have mainly cold type symptoms but if I do anything I get a sudden temperature. DH still negative.

Only in that about a week in I assumed I was getting better- and was- and would be back to normal by the next day. In fact when I walked the dog then tried to work, I discovered I was still too ill. I got a cracking headache and felt nauseous. The next day though I was so much better.

Basically you feel a better, then pause, then feel properly better. It's like a two day lag, I'd say. Just takes a little longer than you thought.

jano69 · 28/06/2022 21:38

Sorry to see you on this thread with me LIZS.

LIZS · 28/06/2022 21:48

@jano69 Smile we had dodged it for so long . DS may retest tomorrow to see if he is clear yet, although wfh anyway and is still coughing.

jano69 · 28/06/2022 22:03

Yep first time here too LIZS, it got exhausting continuously dodging it over 2.5 years, it was almost a relief to test positive this time last week.

HoopLaLah · 28/06/2022 23:29

Hello everyone.

I’m on Day 7 (using the NHS Day Zero counting system). Feeling loads better today, as I had a decent night’s sleep last night. Sinuses are much improved, although not completely back to normal and the cough is much much better too although not completely gone.

i did some work today (WFH). I started late morning as I was tired first thing but managed to work till 5.30 although I did need to take a proper break at lunch time.

Brain a bit slow though and had to keep double checking my work. I’ve decided I’m going to make sure I give my self enough time to leave stuff overnight and re-read it in the morning before sending anything out.

I tested yesterday in the faint hope of a negative to let me out the house a bit earlier. But it was a fast positive. I didn’t bother today but will try again tomorrow.

My stomach was slightly dodgy today and I’m wondering if that’s phase three of this illness.

Namechangeno25788 · 29/06/2022 03:52

Morning - I tested positive yesterday having managed to avoid it completely so far 😥I woke up with a bit of a scratchy throat and a bit of a headache yesterday. I got ready to go to work, and though as I was due to be in a 5hour meeting, I should test just in case. VERY strong and fast positive. So I told everyone at work I was wfh, cracked on with my day and by lunchtime felt absolutely dreadful and was sofa bound. DS got sent home from school as he was exhausted and dizzy (not like him, and tested negative that morning. Though I suspect that’s more to do with him not doing the test properly!). And now I’ve had 4 hours sleep thanks to this bloody headache 🤕 So I guess I won’t be doing much work today either. Hope beyond else is feeling better.

Neowwwm · 29/06/2022 08:52

Morning all, Day 3 positive, 4.5(!) of symptoms. Don't mean to gloat at all but I slept great last night - I took Lemsip Max All in One tablets (an earlier post I mentioned I think they upset my stomach but figured one at night was a trade off) and had two cups of Twinings Sleep Tea yesterday evening with one directly before sleep, never had it before and no idea what it really tasted like due to congestion but it's got a nice soothing feel on the throat. I did wake up a few times and felt pooled in sweat (despite not being hot as such) however no periods of full wakefulness so will continue my routine in the hope I keep sleeping the same.
Not sure how I feel today, I think I feel better but that feeling was on and off yesterday. Sinuses feel like they're clearing and so far less coughing and congestion however despite the stuffy nose easing I cannot smell which is bizarre - tested on my strong smelling pillow spray and can't smell a thing!

This mornings test is thick and dark purple, so still very much in the peak of infection - its bonkers(and I'm very grateful for the fact) that my asthmatic, poor-lung health Dad at 79 had no symptoms and continued renovating his shed when he had the same dark lines!

I'm day 8 today, I felt really unwell yesterday after feeling better on day 6. Feeling okay today. I'm going to test today.
