Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

throat not hurting anymore
no more palpitations

very fed up now of this !!!

Chevyimpala67 · 26/06/2022 12:54

I've just had a shower 🚿 1st in 4 days 🙃
I've walked to the bottom of the garden and wiped down the kitchen surfaces (WHY doesn't dh ever do this??? Why??)
I feel very weak but compared to 2 days ago I think 🤞 I'm improving slowly

Is anyone finding their skin ridiculously dry? My lips are splitting. I'm dry anyway, but this is ridiculous!

My hands are, oddly

Hooray for improving !!!

just been online -
learnt that we can download an isolation note - it covers 2 full weeks for employers
dont need to get a sick note / fitness to work note !

Morning all.

It’s nice to have this thread to turn to, though I’m sorry it means we’re all ill.

I thought I was improving yesterday. But. Awake all night. Slept all morning. Now producing yellow mucus and coughing up gunk. Before that it was just dry cough and sinuses, with transparent glue when I blew my nose. I’m worrying this is a new stage that’s going to get worse before it gets better. I’m also really worrying about DS and DP getting it and ruining their summer.

also got very dry lips but I have very dry skin anyway.

I seem to have acquired athletes foot despite (or maybe because of) going barefoot and not having been near the shower since Thursday. The toe just feels like the final insult.

Not a happy bunny today.

If you follow the NHS’s counting method (where your first day of symptoms or your first positive test, whichever is the earliest, counts as day zero), then I’m on day five.

Oh!
I'm on day 7 then as my symptoms started on Monday

Or am I?
God, my brain is mush

Don'tcallthepolice · 26/06/2022 14:36

I am day six still very positive. My birthday cancelled yesterday and supposed to be taking out my poor mum out for her birthday next Tuesday which won't happen 🙁. Never mind we can reschedule these things.

I am a bit unsure of the return to work. I am currently massively over worked in nhs due to staff shortages. I am thinking Wednesday return but already worried it will knock me right back coping with all the stuff not picked up when I was away plus god knows what new stuff.
Anyone else starting to think about how they will return?

elephantmarchingin · 26/06/2022 14:40

Blooming children! DS refusing to drink now because yesterday we were silly enough to put his calpol into his drink so now he won't drink!

Covid is testing my patience

mrsfeatherbottom · 26/06/2022 14:40

Can I join in? On day four and feel awful - not as bad as day one but worse than yesterday so feeling disheartened. Sleeping really badly which doesn't help.

Got a call today to say that I qualify for treatments so to call them if I get worse or still feeling bad on Tuesday. Would mean going into hospital for a drip. Not even sure how that would work because I couldn't safely drive but DH is positive too so meant to be self isolating (we are in NI with different rules to England).

No, you’re NHS Method Day 6.

I had to count on my fingers twice to work it out though! 😅

It also made me realise that I can’t leave the house till Tuesday, and that’s if I get negative LFTs tomorrow and Tuesday.

That sounds really tough.

As you are NHS does your workplace require a negative PCR before you come into the workplace?

Or is that a rule which only applies to certain categories of patient / types of treatment?

elephantmarchingin · 26/06/2022 14:49

@Chevyimpala67 yep. That worked yesterday but now he's cottoned on and refusing that as well!

Don'tcallthepolice · 26/06/2022 14:50

Thanks Hooplalah, I work in research so could probably stretch it to working from home but the work is relentless at the moment so no less stressful from in my dining room.

TheCatsPjammas · 26/06/2022 14:57

Day 7 and feeling myself, yesterday was good too. However still testing positive even if line really faint. I’m a first timer, the rest of my household had it earlier this year at different time, no one reinfected each other. I tested as I suddenly got a temp In the night. Day 1-4 had a fever that varied 37.5 to 39. No sore throat ( no tonsils!). Just wet phlegmy cough left. Feel like I have got off lightly - though didn’t feel like that day3!

Im isolating at home as hubby and teenage children def don’t want it again. I’ll be needing a neg test for them to have me around.

I know in ‘theory’, I could be let loose but I like to think I’m stopping some transmission chains…

Blackalice · 26/06/2022 15:06

I'm day 6 (if you count symptoms day as day 0 which I think is really odd). Got a pretty negative test this morning (faintest faintest squinter in certain lights) and most symptoms gone, just tired. Drove over to feed my friend's hens and did half an hour of weeding and am knackered so resting now.

Schmz · 26/06/2022 15:20

Yes starting to think how / when to return to work -
im NHS - think we need 2 negatives to attend work -
can WFH but don’t want to return before I’m well and go down hill again ??
anyway strong positive again today - day 7 so not going back yet

Perfectlystill · 26/06/2022 15:29

I've been able to wfh so have worked all the way through. I am due to go back to the office on Weds but don't want to exhaust myself and drag it out.

Hi all. I tested positive this morning after yesterday’s negative. Felt absolutely rotten yesterday after coming back from the food shop. Couldn’t lift the bags! DH had tested positive on Wednesday and was isolating in the bedroom initially, but we guessed it would be only a matter of time before he passed it to me.
We have lasted all this time without catching it - first time for both of us. Have 2 primary aged daughters so it’s hard running the house when you feel so ill.
I have pounding head and aches all over and zero energy. Stuffy runny nose and cough. Slight fever but not too high.

Hope you are all on the mend soon 💐

elephantmarchingin · 26/06/2022 16:18

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't some people just test positive for ages and ages? Mine is still very strong and we managed to push our holiday back to Tuesday which will be day 6 if all goes well (fingers crossed!!!) and I really really want to go but I know that when my friend got it she was still testing positive after 3 weeks!!
