Tested positive today - anyone else?

Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

How are you feeling @elephantmarchingin ? I remember you were worried at the start. Hope you're feeling better now.

@Perfectlystill I'm ok thanks. Not great and still absolutely panic stricken. I think I'm on day 3 now (from symptoms). I've not had a fever which is worrying as I've read that not having a fever can spell bad news but have had a cough for a couple of days. DS has come down with it (we think) today and is not very well at all so all our efforts are going into him.

Perfectlystill · 25/06/2022 09:23

Oh I'm sorry to hear that about your husband. Hope he is fine. And good that you're on to day 3 - fingers crossed you're through the worst of it now.

That's about where I was! With an additional element of feeling better thrown in. I'm not going out on day six, because I still feel a bit rough. I guess I'll be out and about next week, though. Perhaps I'll test before going out on Wednesday. Hmm.

maeveiscurious · 25/06/2022 09:36

Throat and cough settling but major heartburn at 3 am it seems stomach issues another symptom

Chevyimpala67 · 25/06/2022 10:01

Morning.
Day 6
Wide awake at 4am again from coughing (this seems to be a regular thing now)
So I generally sit up, have a drink and take some pain killers and try and go back to sleep.
Dh has just got me a cup of tea.
Throat not as sore but my chest feels chesty iyswim?
Also, nose is congested today too.
I'll test tomorrow but I'd be amazed if it was negative tbh

jano69 · 25/06/2022 11:02

Morning! Day 5 here

Feverish again last night but soon dried off and got back to sleep. Woke up with a really sore throat but paracetamol has eased that. Nose has dried up.

I'm still in bed. Every time I get up and start a little light housework, I get a headache and chills and need to lie down again.

Lovely seeing some of the names I started with turning a corner. Cause for optimism....

jano69 · 25/06/2022 11:05

Ha

Read the news this morning about current covid wave, so weird to be one of the statistics this time round.

libbytrois · 25/06/2022 11:20

So it's a week since first testing positive. Still got a faint positive line, but generally well if a little wiped out. Do I still carry a risk of passing on covid to others? I've been separating from rest of the house .

I think so, yes.
We are working on 2 negative tests for "re introduction" (wow, that sounds sinister...)

Are you all managing to self isolate from others in your household? Or do you see that as a lost cause when in the same house?

I’ve been spending time upstairs / in the garden as much as possible but occasionally get fed up and sit in the living room for a bit. Windows are all open.

It was on my third day of symptoms that I tested positive so it felt a bit “locking the stable door” at that point so I haven’t been too scrupulous about it. I’ll feel absolutely horrible if DP and DS catch it though.

libbytrois · 25/06/2022 11:34

Thanks @Chevyimpala67 sounds sensible

Ohnoitsfinallyhappened · 25/06/2022 12:32

Day 4 here - blocked nasal passages from yesterday have now cleared - left with a hacking cough. Doing some light gardening. Seems like I have got off quite lightly (fingers crossed) .

Tried to register the positive test with 119 but none of the options seem to take me anywhere - just seems an exercise of tying you in knots.

Hope everyone feeling a bit better today

Blackalice · 25/06/2022 12:35

I'm isolating in my bedroom with occasional masked trips downstairs to get to the garden. My kids really don't want it. My 11yo was very ill with it a few months ago and really wants to avoid it.

I saw it as a lost cause so was swanning happily about.

The bf did not see it the same way and insisted I stayed in my room.

So I got room service for 4 days haha. Was quite nice.

So it's a negotiation with whoever you live with. If they're happy to bring you all good and drinks for days on end until you test negative then isolate. If they can't/ won't do that then you can't isolate.

Chevyimpala67 · 25/06/2022 22:26

Just had a horrendous coughing fit :(

Perfectlystill · 26/06/2022 07:50

Oh Chevy I'm sorry. I missed you saying you had tachycardia earlier in the week. I hope you're feeling better today.

My chest feels tight this morning - a week on from my positive test. And I woke up with a DISGUSTING taste in my mouth.

OP posts:
picklemewalnuts · 26/06/2022 08:25

We isolated the first patient, then I went down with it. I isolated a day, sprayed all the door handles and wherever I'd been then realised that ds2 and I could hang out together if we wanted.

Then thought that DH was bound to get it so gave up isolating.

jano69 · 26/06/2022 08:49

Day 6 here. Feeling better this morning.

Still tired and have a bit of a throat still but dare I say it, could be turning a corner....

That's OK...

Ds1 was complaining of awful taste in his mouth yesterday

Day 6 here. Still feel shocking but throat not too bad now.

Ohnoitsfinallyhappened · 26/06/2022 10:58

Day 5 - still like a heavy cold but now with added mouth ulcers and a stye on my eye. Never normally suffer from these so can only assume covid related - anyone else had same?

I had a ulcer on the roof of my mouth. Gone now.

Ds2 still testing negative
Ds1 has just tested negative 10 days after his symptoms started
Dh still testing positive
I've not bothered to test, no point. I have no intention of going anywhere!

bubblicious3 · 26/06/2022 11:53

Day 5 here and feeling loads better. Still have the odd coughing fit but otherwise feel ok, just a bit tired. The difference between getting it this time with 3x vaccines, and when I had it unvaccinated in 2020 is astonishing. I was in bed for a week then.

Chevyimpala67 · 26/06/2022 11:59

I'm planning to stick to my bedroom again today but I'm going to get up tomorrow and actually try and "do" something

picklemewalnuts · 26/06/2022 12:35

Is anyone finding their skin ridiculously dry? My lips are splitting. I'm dry anyway, but this is ridiculous!
