Tested positive this morning (Sunday) after negative test last night. I think I had it before a few months ago so am a bit annoyed to have it again.

Symptoms are feeling chesty, bit of a cough, painful mouth ulcers on back of tongue.

Anyone else along for the ride?

Day 5 here and cannot believe how sore my throat is, never had anything like it. I last had covid in November and it was similar to a minor cold. But this time my throat is agony. Am dosing up on paracetamol, using difflam and gargling salt water but nothing is touching it. Cannot use throat lozenges as the swallowing is too painful.

picklemewalnuts · 23/06/2022 21:27

They don't have that trial in my area, sadly.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 23/06/2022 21:38

I got a text and email about that trial too but also not in the catchment area

Don'tcallthepolice · 23/06/2022 21:42

My lips are quite red. I am day 3 after testing and feeling a bit better. I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this as a side effect?

Perfectlystill · 23/06/2022 21:46

I didn't bother to register my positive test on Sunday. Is there any reason to?

My whole throat feels like it's on fire:(

Mrsmch123 · 23/06/2022 21:56

@elephantmarchingin well that's all good signs. Yeh maybe stop checking for a bit. Tbh I would only start to worry if it was below 90. Even then I wouldn't be panicking but would speak to someone.

worriedatthistime · 23/06/2022 22:20

@Perfectlystill maybe so they realise numbers are up

Meowser72 · 23/06/2022 22:25

I wonder if I should have reported my test. It’s in the bin now! I didn’t think of that. I think my DH might test positive tomorrow so I’m a bit worried about how we will get DD to school. She is testing negative and if she continues to do so then I don’t want her to miss any more school, for obvious reasons ….

I registered my positive LFT earlier today and was invited to participate in this trial.

Paracetamol is working fine for me but thought I'd share for anyone else who's interested.

Alfresco dining sounds a good way of passing the time Haphazard.

They called me today and if it if your Gp supports the trial

I'm expecting to go to hospital tomorrow to look at possible antivirals. I'm ECV so they may recommend I take them

It's good that there are these options for those who need them

maeveiscurious · 23/06/2022 22:39

@BruceAndNosh I am nervous about having them plus I need to travel to the hospital on my own

First time Covid here.

Symptoms (slight throat /sinus) started Tuesday but tested negative. Felt rough overnight (achey / temp / couldn't sleep) and next day (fatigue / brain fog / no appetite) but didn't test as wasn't leaving the house. Strong line yesterday. Fatigue, dry cough, no appetite.

I'm struggling to sleep as my sinuses are affecting my breathing but apart from that I feel ok. My O2 levels are ranging between 90 and 95 but if I do diaphragmatic breathing I can get them above 95 for a couple of minutes so I assume that means I'm ok.

Worried about DP and DS getting it because of DP's age and I've been reading that the new strain is targeting lungs and is more like alpha or delta than Omicron.

DP was ill in bed a couple of weeks ago but tested negative and his chest still isn't right. He's always got bad sinuses and suffers with hayfever.

I reported the test by ringing the helpline. They texted me a link to the website but it seemed like a data harvesting exercise when I started filling it in and I'd already told people I'd been in contact with so I gave up.

HoopLaLah · 24/06/2022 03:57

The guidance here says self isolate for 5 days and then you need two days if negative tests to stop self isolating.

I didn't bother to register my positive test on Sunday. Is there any reason to?

Yes, so that they are alerted to the number of positive tests going up, and can start preparing for what action may need to be taken if the positive tests start feeding through into ICU cases. One of the factors in lifting the restrictions was because Omicron was leading to infections but not resulting in high numbers of ICU admissions. It's all about whether the NHS is at risk of being over whelmed.

Chevyimpala67 · 24/06/2022 04:19

Throat red raw :(
Now I have a spot/blister on the roof of my mouth too...should I get my throat looked at?

HoopLaLah · 24/06/2022 04:25

Is the advice to ring 111 where you are? Maybe do that?

It's a 12 hour wait here to get phoned back by 111 :(

I'll phone the Dr at 8.15 when they open

I tested positive yesterday but have felt unwell since Sunday. Daily tests negative until yesterday.

I was due to go on holiday to Majorca on Sunday so somewhat gutted. 😢

I have a pretty good pain tolerance, but this sore throat is brutal and I've been up most of the night as I'd call it unbearable. Any tips to manage it beyond usual painkillers?

Hope everyone else affected feels better soon.

Hot tea

Toomanylosthours · 24/06/2022 08:15

Sorry about your holiday @Triphazard22

I've been drinking hot soya Milk with honey and having my own body weight in ice lollies to help with sore throat.

Today woken feeling a little better... even made it to the sofa... I'm on day 5. I have however lost complete taste and smell, have hives and am more out of breath.

Chest and back muscles ache from coughing and sneezing.

Firesidefox · 24/06/2022 08:37

oh @Triphazard22 that's bad luck about your holiday.

I have woken up feeling worse today which is annoying. Day six. I feel exhausted and my back is hurting and feels like it might go any minute.
