People with covid now - how much are you isolating?

LostOrFound · 04/04/2022 12:35

Now the guidance has changed and there is no legal requirement to isolate, what are you doing?

We tested positive a week ago and had mild symptoms, fully isolated for 5 days and are going about our normal business now though we are still testing positive, though trying to avoid close contact and indoor spaces and wearing masks everywhere.

@AndAsIfByMagic

So much bluster in defence of the indefensible.

We should take the advice of the WHO. They know better than Boris or anyone posting here.

They look at the overall picture, not the narrow self interest.

As and when the WHO pay for people's food, roof and bills when isolating, sure. In the absence of such support, people's 21st century takes on Marie Antoinette are going to be met with at best laughter at your ignorance and at worst telling you where to get off.

in defence of the indefensible

What? People providing for their families? 🙄

In the absence of anyone else to do it (least of all you) you do not have a solitary leg to stand on here. It's actually laughable.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 05/04/2022 11:27

Oh right, so people who are living pay day to pay day should be thinking about you instead and isolate even if it means using food banks

So you can feel 'safe' going on your 5k holidays ?

Fucking astounding

TheKeatingFive · 05/04/2022 11:28

If that isn't 'narrow self interest' I really don't know what is.

How posters can come out with this with a straight face I just don't know.

AskingforaBaskin · 05/04/2022 11:31

@user1497207191 you are spectacularly tone deaf. You have gained zero sympathy from me but I will now know to disregard anything you say regarding finances.

HardyBuckette · 05/04/2022 11:37

As so often in covid related discussions, I find myself hoping that a particular argument is just trolling.

I agree. If they can afford £5k on a holiday, I'm guessing they aren't living pay check to pay check. Absolutely ridiculous to start judging people who are and who need to work.

Eyedropeyeflop · 05/04/2022 11:45

If feeding my kids and paying my rent takes priority then I’ll crack on with my self interest. Enjoy your 5k holiday.

What a loser.

Yet more bluster. Carry on, you are wrong and you know it.

Lol, the irony.

You aren't even trying to address people's points now. Just firing out 'you're wrong'

Like my seven year old when his debating skills crumble 😆

AndAsIfByMagic · 05/04/2022 12:16

I addressed points pages back. No need to lie.

But carry on disagreeing with the WHO, I'm sure they'll listen to such a mature argument.

Daft to argue against the experts but carry on, Don Quixote.

Eyedropeyeflop · 05/04/2022 12:18

You’re the daft one love expecting people to isolate so you can trot off on your holidays.

Meanwhile in the real world when people need to pay their bills and feed their kids ……

Not just me - the WHO.

I haven't had a holiday since Covid began so that's a very stupid assumption. Have you confused me with someone else, perhaps?

It really isn't daft to agree with the experts but feel free to carry on making things up if you think lies help.

Welshmaenad · 05/04/2022 12:21

I tested positive on Thursday whilst staying at my partners house. He and his parents (who live with him) have just got over it themselves. Whilst they were positive I didn't see them (I caught it elsewhere, probably at work in the hospital).

I haven't left the house or seen anyone but them. My kids are staying with their dad, they visited on Sunday, staying over 2m away from me outside on the deck. I do not want them catching it.

TheKeatingFive · 05/04/2022 12:24

I addressed points pages back.

Along the lines of ...

'if people end up losing their homes and going hungry, tough shit. Food banks, y'know. Remember to prioritise me, that's the important thing'

Is that what you mean?

But carry on disagreeing with the WHO

I'm not sure you get this, but the WHO aren't the ultimate authority on how people should live. They're concerned with public health, that's their job. They are not concerned with how people pay their rent. That's not their job.

Ordinary people have to balance those issues so need to think about more than what the WHO says. How privileged do you have to be to not understand this?

Don Quixote

Say what now?

TheKeatingFive · 05/04/2022 12:25

Not just me - the WHO.

😂 😂 😂

Remind me again, what do the WHO say about how people should pay their bills?

Eyedropeyeflop · 05/04/2022 12:32

Is the WHO some sort of church? The ultimate authority 😂.

Does it have any special commandments we can all follow to live a virtuous and fruitful life.

Thou shalt not leave the house if infected with covid

SexyLittleNosferatu · 05/04/2022 12:33

I think I had it again last week. I didn't take a test and I went to work as normal because I don't get paid if I don't. I couldn't care less what "the WHO" or random people on the internet think about my choice.

AndAsIfByMagic · 05/04/2022 12:33

@TheKeatingFive

Remind me again of your qualifications that prove you know better than the experts.

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

AskingforaBaskin · 05/04/2022 12:36

Nobody is disagreeing with what the WHO have concluded.

But you fail to grasp that they do not focus on the economy. They do not take into account the affect that not working has.

So again. The WHO can say what they want. They don't pay the bills.

TheKeatingFive · 05/04/2022 12:37

Remind me again of your qualifications that prove you know better than the experts.

The WHO are experts in public health. Not how to exist.

Do you understand that? Or are you promoting the Church of WHO to the masses?

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 05/04/2022 12:44

Adult DS has it-he is on Day 7 since first positive test and feels rough-just absolutely shattered. He is extremely fit and healthy and this has floored him.

Was WFH but told his boss today he just isn't up for it-very fuzzy headed.

He is staying home and only going out in the evening to get some air but not going near anyone and lots of open windows etc in the house

Overthebow · 05/04/2022 12:44

@user1497207191 you want people to isolate and lose pay do that you can go on a £5k holiday? What planet are you on?!

LoveSpringDaffs · 05/04/2022 12:55

@Nyfluff

Is anyone receiving the nose only lft swabs when they order online?
No last ones I got were the old muse and throat.

I cannot do the throat, so I'm just doing both nostrils. I can't see it's any different than using the nose only boxes. Hate the stupid long flappy swabs though!

bluebaul · 05/04/2022 12:59

@Nyfluff

Yes, we have been getting the green orient gene boxes again (for about 3 weeks now). Before that we had a 6 week period of getting the old blue NHS throat and nose kind.
