I have woken up feeling breathless, tired, achey and tight of chest.

LFT negative but I've booked a PCR as I want to see elderly mum this w/e so want to be sure.

I know it seems that the current variant BA.2 seems to be a bit worse than Omicron that everyone had at Christmas, but I'm not sure what the symptoms are.

If you have covid now, what are your symptoms?

My second time now. First had delta last summer, was really really mild.
Now, this omicron whatever variant. Fuck, feels like a horrible, terrible cold! Last time I had something similar was 10+ years ago!
Nose running so badly that I went thru 2 packs of tissues just today. Can barely open my eyes as it’s running, too! Sneezing like hell plus irritating wet cough. No temp, no headache, no sore throat/muscles/joints. Just really bad cold yet.
It’s day 3 for me.

MissMarpleRocks · 25/03/2022 16:10

Headache, sore throat (feels like tonsillitis) achey joints/muscles, dizzy, can’t bear the light so can’t keep eyes open, lower back ache, tingling gums & sinus pain, fatigue & insomnia (go figure), temperature 38-40, cough, phlegm, runny nose, sneezing & now to crown it all diarrhoea. With a vengeance.

I’ve probably missed a few symptoms but god I’ve not been this ill for years.

Piggy42 · 25/03/2022 16:14

Feels like a heavy cold. Fatigued.

roseberrycherry · 25/03/2022 16:15

I'm on day 5. Horrendous aches and pains, sore throat, headaches, stomach cramps, hot and cold, heavy chest, blocked and runny nose intermittently, ringing ears, cough, loss of taste and smell. Today I've managed to spend most of the day out of bed but still testing extremely positive.

bluechameleon · 25/03/2022 16:27

I'm just back at work today after testing negative days 6 and 7. I was barely ill, like a not very bad cold. I had it worse in January.

brandyandsummergloves · 25/03/2022 16:27

Day 2 for me

Aching limbs and fingers (??) weird
Horrible cough
Hot and cold
Shooting pains in my head and ribs
Tired out! Haven't left the sofa all day and still in pyjamas

I suspect I've got a way to go

I'm on day 6 - yesterday and today i was fairly fine in morning then got freezing cold and felt ill and dizzy again in afternoon and evening.

Last night I had 5 duvets, heating on and socks and was still like ice. No fever to go with it though.

xsquared · 25/03/2022 18:59

Day 1: Itchy throat, feeling fatigued and some mild tension in the head.

Days 2-4: Like a cold, congested or runny nose, itchy throat and cough.

Day 5. Feeling okay, just like the end of a cold. I think I've been lucky.

MrsAmber · 25/03/2022 19:14

Day 5 and symptoms have eased, had aches and pains, dithering, awful stomach cramps, sore throat and cold symptoms.

Red line still very positive though which is a pita! I really need to go back to work next week!

PurpleThistles · 25/03/2022 20:54

Starting to feel a bit better tonight, voice is back and not as hoarse, airways a bit clearer. Day 4 since my positive test but I think day 6 since I had symptoms. I bought an oxygen meter thing which has really reassured me, 98-99%. Praying I am over the worst but will see what tomorrow brings. Glaring line on LFT but rest of the household are all negative or very faint. I guess I got more of a viral load than them.

treedragon · 25/03/2022 21:58

Covid is more prevalent than the common cold at the moment so I read today.

MissMarpleRocks · 26/03/2022 05:35

Can add vomiting to my list above of symptoms now. If I’ve not lost weight by the end of this malarkey I’ll not be happy!

Symptoms started on Monday
Positive on Tuesday
But if I’m correct day 1 is Wednesday? Is that how’s it counted?? It says on the app to isolate till Friday 1st at 23.59. Thought that was most precise!

treedragon · 26/03/2022 08:19

@MissMarpleRocks

I thought isolation rules were over now. That’s why the infection rate is sky high. No one gives a fig anymore

MissMarpleRocks · 26/03/2022 08:40

Oh yes they are - I meant to add that in Blush as that’s what confused me. To be honest I can’t make it out of bed much so I wouldn’t be able to mix anyway. My dad is vulnerable as well so I won’t be going near him till I’m completely better & have done a few negative LFT.

raspberryjamchicken · 26/03/2022 08:56

Legally isolation is over but guidance is that you still isolate. Obviously a lot of people aren't doing that which is why it is spreading so fast. The ones who are saying it's nothing much and they've had worse colds are going out and about and spreading it to those who ar feeling terrible and unable to get out of bed. Unfortunately among those people will be elderly who may get very sick but also healthcare staff, teachers, childcare staff, delivery staff, firefighters, gas/electricity engineers and all the others that we rely on to keep everything going.

MsTSwift · 26/03/2022 09:00

Well it wasn’t a mild cold for me. Pretty fit and healthy I was in bed for a week feeling bloody awful now functioning but zero energy can’t exercise etc. Day 10

Frenchie8690 · 26/03/2022 09:03

Cold symptoms particularly a multitude of snot and some achy sinuses. In the olden days I'd have taken some lemsip and gone to work

usernotfound0000 · 26/03/2022 09:12

Day 4 for me. Just a bit chesty and full of snot now. Felt up to doing some exercise this morning and feel better for it. Hoping for a negative test tomorrow but not holding my breath!

Stanleystuck · 26/03/2022 09:47

Day 6 for me today. Did a test and I have a faint line. My sinuses feel like I have been swimming in a very chorinated pool. Still have pressure in one ear. Still have coughing bouts. Still feel tired and not with it. And my taste and smell are still AWOL. People keep saying it is mild and it I suppose it is but at the same time it is nasty.

Onegingerhead · 26/03/2022 10:04

I remember that with previous variants it was common to go downhill day7-10. Is it still the case with the current version of omicron? Anyone experienced oxygen sats dramatically going down (indicative of lung damage)?
I m asking because I m worried, my delta was much milder compared what I m feeling now

I don’t think that’s the case for Omicron, which is probably why the hospitalisations and deaths are down in comparison with delta. I don’t think it causes the organ damage that delta did and is mainly confined to the upper airways. I think people are feeling awful but gradually improve with omicron even if if do feel dreadful with it.

RiojaRose · 26/03/2022 11:56

Day 2: feeling slightly better than yesterday, but temperature slightly up, heart rate slightly up, oxygen level slightly down. Slight cough, sore throat, snotty nose. The worst thing is the fatigue. I have an underlying condition associated with poorer covid outcomes so I’m a bit worried.

FrancescaContini · 26/03/2022 12:01

I tested positive a couple of days ago for the second time. My symptoms last time were exhaustion and cough. This time, I just have a sore throat and really runny nose. Feels like a mild cold.

StCharlotte · 26/03/2022 12:25

DH has very mild cold-like symptoms. We only tested because we were meant to be going to a wedding today and he was a bit rough last night. I have no symptoms at all. Let's hope it stays that way as I'm diabetic 🙏

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/03/2022 13:40

Day nine here, strong positive on lateral flow now. Feel very choked up and chesty. Oxygen fine at 99. Hoping it is on the way out.
