I have woken up feeling breathless, tired, achey and tight of chest.

LFT negative but I've booked a PCR as I want to see elderly mum this w/e so want to be sure.

I know it seems that the current variant BA.2 seems to be a bit worse than Omicron that everyone had at Christmas, but I'm not sure what the symptoms are.

If you have covid now, what are your symptoms?

Me and my eldest are vaccinated and have tested positive but have no symptoms. The two younger girls are really ill - temperatures, aching, off their food, raspy breathing at times, horrible cough and very tired and lethargic. The 3yo has had it before and was nowhere near this ill last time

Ineedhelp1981 · 24/03/2022 15:32

@Unicornspirit

Tested positive today, scratchy throat, light headed, runny then blocked nose, slight headache and weirdly I'm starving. Just want junk food.
I tested positive yesterday and this exactly me. Just told my brother that I definitely haven't lost my sense of taste!
Unicornspirit · 24/03/2022 15:36

I'm on just eat deciding on a feast! My taste is absolutely fine.
My daughter and husband are also positive and they are starving too.
Very weird symptom!

Sunnycats · 24/03/2022 16:12

Day 3 of symptoms although only really hit properly overnight last night, positive LFT today. Feel dreadful, cough, exhaustion, sore throat headache, aches... I really thought I would escape it as first time in 2 years being ill Sad was not expecting to feel this bad!

LadyEloise1 · 24/03/2022 16:49

Anyone get Omicron with no cough ?

Watsername · 24/03/2022 18:04

Third day - very slight cough, but worse when I am on my feet, so am trying my best to not move! I feel ok apart from that now my temperature is back to normal.

Eddmr · 24/03/2022 18:11

Day 1 - Sunday Felt like I had been run over by a bus. Achy, sore throat.
Day 2 - Monday. Occasional coughing fit. Would have probably had the day off work if it had been any other illness. Still did a set of accounts from home.
Day 3 - Tuesday. Occasional coughing fit. Would have gone to work
Day 4 - Wednesday. Feel fine.
Day 5 - Thursday. Fell fine - still testing positive.

I've felt far more ill with tonsillitis.

Maxter · 24/03/2022 18:12

Day 3 of symptoms, first day of testing positive. Headache, blocked nose, slight cough, back ache and feeling tired. Feels like a nasty cold. Seem to have developed a huge appetite though!

Eddmr · 24/03/2022 18:13

Have still been able to taste and smell throughout. No loss of appetite. Fully vaccinated.

PurpleThistles · 24/03/2022 18:15

Anyone got blocked ears? Trying to clear throat but it's not really doing anything? Hate not being able to hear properly.

DomingoinLittleOakley · 24/03/2022 18:22

Day 4 today. Avoided it for 2 years but DH finally passed it onto me 7 days after his first symptoms. Started feeling a bit 'off' on Monday afternoon, got progressively more achy and shivery during the night. Negative LFT.
Tuesday was awful, I cannot remember ever feeling as unwell. Every muscle in my body ached, I had stabbing pains in my spine, my arms and legs were like lead and I was still shivering on and off. It was a real chore to get out of bed to go to the loo. LFT still negative.
Wednesday still felt terrible, achy and fatigued but not as bad as Tuesday. LFT finally very positive. And I was ravenous, though some very nice dark chocolate tasted weird and I couldn't eat it.
Back to WFH today - I had a sore throat this morning but that's gone and now have sneezing, runny nose, woolly head and occasionally dizzy. Don't really have a cough, just feels like a bad head cold. Hopefully that's the worst of it over.

Anyone get Omicron with no cough ?
My DD did. DS had a very slight cough but he's asthmatic so gets a cough whenever he's ill.
Maxter · 24/03/2022 18:33

@PurpleThistles My DD is positive too and her ears are blocked!

Lulu1919 · 24/03/2022 18:36

Stanleystuck · 24/03/2022 19:00

Day four. Ears are blocked, still snotty and coughing. Can't taste or smell so well. My sinus and throat pain feels a.bit better. Still tired and foggy.

RhubarbRocks · 24/03/2022 19:04

Have been reading this thread for a few days but only just had energy to post now!

Started feeling ill on Sunday. Faint line on LFT.

Monday felt worse - sore throat, cough, tired. Strong positive.

Tuesday and Wednesday worst sore throat I have ever had, much less sore today but I’ve not even been able to whisper for 2 days.

Awful cough which is worse when I lie down - sleeping (well as much as I can) propped on pillows. Coughing up lots of gunk and feels like I am drowning when I lie down flat too long.

And still feel exhausted and lightheaded when I sit or stand for long. Having to lie down after brushing teeth, getting glass or water etc - can manage only a few mins on feet before my head goes cold and ears start ringing and I feel like I’ll faint.

Am double vaccinated and boosted. Clinically vulnerable due to autoimmune condition but am youngish and healthy weight so thought I might get off more lightly. Most of my friends have had a sniffle at most.

I don’t mind riding this out and am not worried I’ll get worse now, but am worried about long covid.

RhubarbRocks · 24/03/2022 19:06

@PurpleThistles yes I have blocked ears too!

Icecreamandapplepie · 24/03/2022 19:08

Like flu here, day 2.

Terrible fever, headache, lethargic. Bit of a sore throat, runny nose, no appetite.

Really bad chills so I didn't get any sleep last night from teeth chattering.

Kids got it before me and were pretty ill too.

Dread to think how bad it might have been without jabs and booster.

Icecreamandapplepie · 24/03/2022 19:09

Oh, and cough. Especially if I take deep breaths in

RhubarbRocks · 24/03/2022 19:16

@Unicornspirit my husband was really really hungry too. I was extra hungry for the first day or so but not now - maybe because I’ve not moved for 4 days though! Increased appetite does seem to be a symptom though. Perhaps the body asking for more energy for the fight!

9pmcouchnaps · 24/03/2022 19:32

Dd (6) started with a headache yesterday evening, within an hour it was bad enough to make her cry. She had about an hour of a continuous weird cough, which is what made me test her - v positive LFT straight away. She has barely coughed since, which is v odd. She’s had an awful night and day, high temp, shivery, vomiting hourly, headache, sore eyes, super lethargic, sleeping on and off, weird throat. She hasn’t eaten at all and is really sad. She’s fast asleep in bed now, really hoping she’ll have a decent night’s sleep and feel better in the morning

Sillyotter · 24/03/2022 19:35

First day I tested positive I was very achy and had a fuzzy head. Throughout mostly been random body aches and a more or less constant fuzzy feeling in my head. Felt ok since day 5 but still testing positive on day 6

whereareyousleep · 24/03/2022 20:47

DS8 had cough, headache, sore throat and feels generally grotty he had it last august and we wouldn't have known if rest of house wasn't positive so he was tested. Been much worse this time.

DS3 has a terrible cough, lethargic looks pale still testing negative so I think he has had the totally different virus that my mum has had for last 10 days and she tested negative throughout.

Everybody else in house also testing negative although showing symptoms of some virus or other sneezing sore throat etc no idea what's going on think we have 2 separate viruses going on. We only recovered from the awful stomach bug last week!

MonkeyPuddle · 24/03/2022 21:23

I am day 8 now. Feeling much better, felt really rough days 2-4. Now am just struggling with intense tiredness and am short of breath quite a bit. I’ve checked my sats (have a monitor due to my job) and they’re normal which is nice and reassuring. Am doing some gentle walking every day, walking a mile and then sitting and walking home. Napping when I need to. Still off work at the minute which I think is the right thing for me, but not for my team. Covid has ripped though the team (community nurses) and I feel like a compete shit for still being off but I think if I went back now I wouldn’t cope the full shift.

Anyone get Omicron with no cough ?

I haven't had any cough and tested positive on Tuesday.
So far, a bit tireder than usual, very slightly scratchy throat and slightly runny nose and a few sneezing fits the first day. Sore eyeballs, twitchy eye muscle, slight headache and feeling a bit confused. The two friends who tested positive at the same time as I did are really unwell with flu like symptoms and violent coughing fits. We are all in our 60s, triple jabbed and out of the 3 of us I have the most health problems yet I have the mildest infection.. it seems so random as to how it affects people. I have been taking vit d, zinc, k2, quercitin and vit c since the start of the pandemic. Maybe that has helped, who knows.
