Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

I am 54, triple vaxed. I am fit and healthy , but have been run down due to shit going on in my life.
I am literally finding it an effort to hold my head up. I wish I could sleep during the day. I am so tried.

TypicaIMe · 15/03/2022 13:09

I'm 49, overweight (don't know how much I weigh but I'm a size 18), quadruple vaccinated. I had my fourth jab last Sunday so no idea if it's had time to have any effect on this infection, my consultant says it might have done. I have rheumatoid arthritis and inject Methotrexate weekly for it.

Ywnaged · 15/03/2022 13:50

Day 4 here.

Started with a sore throat and sudden cough. Progressed to sore throat, runny nose, cough and fatigue. Bit of a spacey-headed feeling too.

Still fatigued, slept most of the weekend and yet couldn’t sleep last night due to head ache/sinus pain. I wouldn’t say I’ve got the raw end of the deal yet, but so far:

  • I didn’t get to see my v. elderly dad on his birthday on Saturday as I tested positive on the actual day
  • I was supposed to travel to Spain this weekend for a much-needed break. Ryan air have been, well, Ryan air so I’ve had to pay £100 to postpone
  • I couldn’t play in my sports team’s league match on Monday and now fear becoming unfit in the likely event I have to miss next week’s match (likely) and this week’s training (very likely)
  • the bloke I spoke to on 119 was utterly obnoxious and was talking over me/shouting me down when I gently told him his advice conflicted with the NHS email I’d received re.isolation. I had to remind myself he probably hates his job more than I hate mine so to have some sympathy!

Anyway, that’s my pity party over! It will all resolve itself. Vitamin c and duvet days ahoy.

Sending good wishes to all who are sick xxx

Ywnaged · 15/03/2022 13:51

Should also add that I’m 31 and boosted. Used to training at the gym 4 times a week and walking everywhere.

Twentyn1ne · 15/03/2022 14:18

Does anybody else have a really bad stomach? I'm reluctant to venture too far from the bathroom today as I don't think I'll make it back in time

Stormchaser1502 · 15/03/2022 14:23

I’m 48. Cycle 100 miles a week, walk 15k steps a day and eat for nutrition. Vegetarian and very health conscious. Never really get ill and if I do, I just plough through!

However, even loading the washing machine is making me dizzy and exhausted!!

Day 5 since PCR and day 8 since symptoms

Stormchaser1502 · 15/03/2022 14:24

I must add, I’m triple vaccinated too!

CookPassBabtridge · 15/03/2022 14:55

Just been reading that scientists say it should never have been called a milder variant. It's just slightly less severe and fatal compared to delta.. so still very bad.
Mild gives the totally wrong impression!

WhoWants2Know · 15/03/2022 15:20

On the slightly plus side, I have probably saved near £50 in petrol through being off sick. Every cloud...

ancientgran · 15/03/2022 15:23

@Verity226

How old is everybody? If you don't mind answering ofc.

I'm 28. Slightly overweight but not by much. Smoker. Triple vaccinated.

I feel incredibly naive thinking I'd get off lightly a second time around. I had it during the first wave and that was a cake walk compared to this.

It is all very weird isn't it. I'm nearly 70. Always busy and on the go, have a part time job, husband's carer, do lots of childcare with GC so probably fitter than most would expect at my age. I've had 3 jabs, 2 plus the booster. Antibody test shows I have likely had it before. Not sure how likely that is but the text said something like they can see antibodies from jabs and antibodies likely from previous infection, unlikely to be this infection.

How did I manage to have it once and not notice and here I am at day 16 coughing and spluttering and feeling totally feeble.

It certainly does.

My stomach has been atrocious for about a week. I had to get up at 5.30 this morning to go to the toilet and it was so violent, let's just say I was way to awake to go back to bed afterwards!

DH has just lost his sense of taste (apart from a couple of things - oat biscuits being one of them, oddly). He seems to be a day ahead of me symptoms wise so I'm really hoping I don't get this too. When we first had covid in February 2020 he lost smell and taste completely for a few weeks, but DD and I didn't. I wonder if some people are more susceptible than others?

PiesNotGuys · 15/03/2022 16:17

Day 8 here, really fed up. Chest pains, dizziness, so tired. Weirdly always hungry but getting reflux symptoms too, stomach aches, indigestion, heartburn. The runny nose has gone as cough has faded, no longer productive but I’d almost rather have that back than this awful chest pain. Just moving around is so draining with the dizziness. Still getting strong positives on LFTs.

I’d give anything to be able to take a day off work but I can’t and it’s super busy too.

Anyone got anything that works for the chest pain? Paracetamol isn’t doing it.

Verity226 · 15/03/2022 16:19

I can't do another week of this, my autistic son is going biserk in the house screaming and throwing things non stop, 5 days in a row, I'm never going to get better here I would rather be in hospital 😭

BigButtons · 15/03/2022 17:02

@Twentyn1ne my stomach is certainly not right. I can only eat crackers and the thought of most food makes me feel sick. I feel nauseous a lot of the time and am going to the toilet more often than normal.

I constantly feel as if I am going to faint, even lying down.

Twentyn1ne · 15/03/2022 17:18

@BigButtons I can completely relate to your last sentence, my god isn't it a bizarre feeling? I feel completely detached, spaced out, weak and so so dizzy.

What causes this, any idea? I've just ordered a pulse oxi meter to check my oxygen, it'll be here tomorrow, i have no means to check other vitals though Confused

Saucery · 15/03/2022 17:30

@Verity226 I’m sorry, that must be so difficult for both of you Flowers. This will pass though and we will get better.
Pattern of a cold for the worst symptoms, for the majority of people. 2 days to come, 2 days full blown, 2 days to go. That’s what I’m telling myself anyway.

My dizziness is like being shut in a glass jar and spun around.

pearandsausage · 15/03/2022 17:41

Day 6ish here and starting to feel better, not tried any sort of exertion yet though. Tests showing positive a bit less quickly but still very much positive. I fear I'm going to be testing positive for the full 10 days which is going to make nursery runs a bit tricky for a couple of days as DH won't be around to do them!

GrandmaRush · 15/03/2022 17:49

My grandson who lives with us and soon to be me more probably. None of us have had it before.

GS is not very well - it's his second day.

Frosty1000 · 15/03/2022 18:00

I'm on day 2, tested positive on Sunday. Even if I squint this isn't anything like mild.

To put it bluntly I feel shocking. But my 6 year old has bounced back, whilst still positive, to normal and is not impressed with the resurrection of mum school 😁

Hope you all feel better soon! x

Winday · 15/03/2022 19:11

Day (I think) 8 here.

Feeling much better, I'm just left with a horrible taste in my mouth. Maybe a little tired. I'm 35, and have been vaxxed.

I'm sorry for everyone struggling, I hope you turn a corner soon.

Squeezed · 15/03/2022 19:13

I tested positive today but symptoms started yesterday. Had very bad vomiting through the night and very dizzy today. Slept lots today but still very tored

SundayTeatime · 15/03/2022 19:18

I have it. It’s the first time. I’ve got a sore throat and my head hurts. DH got it just before me - he is really ill and can’t get out of bed. Lying in a dark room. Very feverish and feels sick. We are triple vaccinated.

Twentyn1ne · 15/03/2022 19:19

What's the deal with this dizziness? Does anybody know the cause? BP? Oxygen? I was pretty concerned until I saw how common it is among others here and on older threads when I did a search.

I tend to get quite a few viruses and whatnot as I have young children and I don't recall feeling anything like this derealization/ dizziness before.

Saucery · 15/03/2022 19:25

www.yourcovidrecovery.nhs.uk/managing-the-effects/effects-on-your-body/dizziness/

There’s some info on here about possible causes for the dizziness, but there isn’t a definitive answer afaik. Think mine is vestibular, as my oxygen and heart rate are fine. My ears feel blocked from the very inside, if that makes sense. Add dehydration from the temp and maybe anxiety that I actually have Covid, could explain it. I had flashbacks to all the news reports from hospitals at the start of the pandemic yesterday, so my heart rate went up due to that as well as fever. Gave myself a jolly good talking to and I’m calmer today!
