Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

On Day 3 & my chest is starting to feel a bit tight which is alleviated by my ventolin inhaler (have mild asthma.)
It also hurts my throat when I cough

Luckyme2 · 21/03/2022 11:52

Day 12 for me. I’m back in work, tests have been negative since Saturday but in all honesty I feel worse today than I did yesterday! Head really blocked and muggy and feel like my ears need to ‘pop’. Throat still sore and I’m still coughing. The joys! Think I’ll sleep tonight as my mum used to say!

MaryQueenOfSwots · 21/03/2022 12:00

Day 2 today for me, just a really faint line but definitely there. Banging headache and cough when I talk. Also had horrible dreams about my teeth falling out and getting told off by the dentist for wasting his time.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/03/2022 13:58

I''m still not that bad. I suppose it comes in waves. I feel ok, just a cold. Throat is ok but keep sneezing. Aching on legs comes and goes. Tested positive on Sunday. I am surprised at how OK I feel, for now.
I'm not sleeping that well though. Helps to have the windows open. I am also quite hungry!!

PurpleOranges · 21/03/2022 14:16

Hi @Verity226, I'm still feeling depressed, I've felt like this so many times before and know it will eventually lift, pottering in the garden helps. I'm on day 9 and still testing positive, going back to work on day 11.

MaryQueenOfSwots · 21/03/2022 14:39

@neveradullmoment99 I’m also hungry - and no loss of smell/taste so far.

SkyeT · 21/03/2022 18:16

Explosive diarrhoea has arrived. Excruciating stomach pain too. Ugh. So much for feeling better.

Sadandfedup2 · 21/03/2022 18:27

Day 5 here. Took a turn for the worse yesterday, (although the weekend was bad, hardly out of bed with head cold and weakness) stomach had been absolutely fine but had awful diarrhoea and cramps and almost vomited last night, shook for 2 hours. Woke up today and felt shaky but maybe just maybe have turned a corner, not feeling as awful. Breathlessness has started on exertion though. Coughing bad on exertion. Went for a short walk rurally as no chance of meeting anyone and it helped me feel better mentally though my legs were like jelly after. Weirdly my sense of smell went in the middle of the night, but is almost normal today! Anyone else had just a brief lapse or will it go again?

ShowMeYourMethod · 21/03/2022 18:27

Day 7
Still testing v clear positive
Still feeling utter shite.

Am so fed up of the constant references to
Mild cold
Sniffles
Bit of a runny nose

Prior to this I had had 2 days off in 12 years at my current job. So hardly a hypochondriac or prone to illness.

But even without a covid test I wouldn't have been able to work for the last 5 days.

Ok rant over.
Sympathies to anyone feeling as crap as I do.
Hope everyone else does get the 'mild cold' as promised.

gettingalife · 21/03/2022 18:45

Day 21 today. Made it back to work but am now in bed at 7pm. Ache, in a fog still and exhausted.

derekthe1adyhamster · 21/03/2022 18:56

After 3 days of a heavy cold and negative lateral Flows I booked a PCR yesterday. I didn't expect it to come back positive - but it did!
I still haven't had a positive lateral flow, but the child symptoms have gone and I'm left with fatigue, cough and breathlessness when I walk up the stairs.
is it likely that I'll get a positive lateral flow now?

Jenasaurus · 21/03/2022 19:11

My son has tested positive today, his GF asked him to test as he has a sore throat, but his first symptoms were aching legs last Wednesday, followed by sniffles, and now a throat, he has been working (he visits banks in the South East for his work) and the gym 3 times a week, said he feels OK, and his boss wants him to continue working while he feels fine, he says he will wear a mask from tomorrow (but I fear he may have infected a few over the last few days). My DD has just recovered from it, she had a week off work as was exhausted and despite it now being the law the policy of the nursery she works at is if you are positive you cant return until you have a negative, but she couldnt have worked anyway. She had sore throat, muscle aches, vomiting, headache and exhaustion. Lasted 6 days

GD12 · 21/03/2022 19:14

Tested + today, 4yo daughter positive on Friday and she's had a very slight cough a little fatigue and slightly snuffly but she's almost back to normal. I maybe feel a bit tired but am mostly asymptomatic so far, same for my OH who has also tested positive today, not very many symptoms (if any) at all yet. Reading what everyone is going through here, I'm pretty nervous of what is to come 😔

BigButtons · 21/03/2022 19:37

@derekthe1adyhamster I have a friend who is a nurse who is on her second Roy d of covid. She is very poorly and it seems likely she might now have developed pneumonia. She told me that she has never had a positive lft despite testing daily at work. Her PCRs were positive though.
I tested for 5 days before I had a positive . I had all the symptoms and felt awful but was at work. Great.

Sorry last question I meant with the smell going then quickly coming back again not the whole shite in general, I know that comes and goes from what I've heard!
dillydallydollydaydream7 · 21/03/2022 20:19

I'm day 3 of a positive LFT but my symptoms started last Monday, so day 7 if I look at it that way. Did another test yesterday and the line was slightly lighter than Friday but still there. The blocked nose has gone and I'm only blowing it intermittently throughout the day now, the cough is still there but has stopped on a night and is more apparent during the day, the headache has gone, but today I am totally wiped!

Anyone else 3 or 7 days in and have had tiredness hit them?

derekthe1adyhamster · 22/03/2022 08:32

I am exhausted today! Just after sending a cheery what's app to my manager saying I'd be up for working at home today, I've made a cup of coffee and I need to have a nap!

EventuallyDelighted · 22/03/2022 08:34

I have tested negative today, day 9. Had a fairly normal day yesterday, nothing strenuous just light housework etc. Strange metallic taste in my mouth for the last couple of days and was crashingly tired from about 4pm yesterday.

BigButtons · 22/03/2022 08:47

Is anyone going to bother testing once they get to day 10?
I am on day 11 and my day ten line was faint but clearly positive still.

inappropriateraspberry · 22/03/2022 08:55

I had the metallic taste yesterday morning and still got a splitting headache. Absolutely shattered by the end of the day and I'm not doing much at all.

Chocolatetrifle · 22/03/2022 09:46

I don't think you need to keep testing after day 10, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm still positive on day 7.

I found the metallic taste came the same day I couldn't taste anything later on but strangely it was normal the next day.

Frosty1000 · 22/03/2022 09:57

I'm not going to test after day 10.

I'm also going to whisper this.....I'm negative day 9 🎉. Still not feeling wonderful, back to work (at home) but very foggy.

TypicaIMe · 22/03/2022 09:57

Day 10, LFT still thick, dark and very, very positive

Still feel like hell, but I've just managed a shower.

I've now been ill for two and a half weeks and to say I've had enough is an understatement of epic proportions Sad

BigButtons · 22/03/2022 10:10

@TypicaIMe have you contacted your gp? You might have a secondary infection. Do you have a fever at all? Xx

TypicaIMe · 22/03/2022 11:10

@BigButtons no, I've not had a fever at all really, just occasionally felt a bit hot and clammy last week. I don't think I have a chest infection or anything as I'm not coughing a lot. I think it's just that it's hanging around because of my immunosuppression - my consultant said it might and that I'd probably have it worse than most. It's just a shock because of all the times I've had it this is the worst, and after four prior infections plus four jabs I expected to have some resistance to it!
