Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

I can share my daughters from yesterday and today, it went faint then today vanished altogether. So I should be happy we have possible school tomorrow if she's negative first thing. You can hardly see her first line on photo, but more obvious to naked eye.

Jules912 · 20/03/2022 10:25

@CottonSock my DS's got gradually fainter until negative. Mine on the other hand are still stubbornly black on day 8, not sure it's even worth testing anymore. Even starting to wonder if it'll really be ok to go out on Wednesday which would be day 10 since my positive test but day 11 since symptoms.

CottonSock · 20/03/2022 10:31

Ah sorry for those of you feeling poorly and also those with no chance of early release. Testing positive on your child’s day 10 is also extremely irritating. Sorry finding it hard to tag people today.
We were lucky to be 4 days in a row.

Luckyme2 · 20/03/2022 10:42

Day 10 for me and testing negative since yesterday. My head still feels really bunged up though and my ears don’t feel right. Still got a cough too. I guess I’m not infectious now and these are just lingering issues?

Neurodiversitydoctor · 20/03/2022 10:55

Day 21 and after 2 days feeling alot better I seem to have gone backwards. Bad coughing in the night, high temperature and quite delirious at times*

I think you need medical advice and quite possibly anti-biotics. You really shouldn't have a fever on day 21. Try 111 or 119

Yes you might well have a chest infection that needs treating. Cough and temp would indicate this.
BigButtons · 20/03/2022 10:58

Day 9 test done. Still positive. Not black sharpie line, but visible nonetheless less.

I think as long as you don't have a high temperature, you can go out from day 10. The guidance from our school was that they can go in, even with a cough and/or change in sense of taste, as these are longer term but you shouldn't be infectious.

Looking good! I may be free soon 😆 I do still have a headache, but feel a lot brighter and less 'gluey' than the last few days.

babyt2020 · 20/03/2022 11:26

Day 6 for us, me partner and 2 babies 8 months and 20 months. The 8 month old started first with really bad barking/wheezing, then me and partner. Whole body hurts, no matter how much I sleep I'm still wiped out but can't have time off with babies!! It's torture 😫😫😫I would never stay in the house more than one day but haven't been out in a week and no desire to leave the couch!! Can't stop eating though 🤷‍♀️anyone else?

BigButtons · 20/03/2022 11:28

@inappropriateraspberry technically 23.59 on day 19. Even more technically you can test day as day zero- so effectively 11 days not 10. I am ignoring that small detail though!

robocracker · 20/03/2022 12:01

I'm exactly the same as you. Had covid nov 2020 asymptotic I only knew as I felt weird, couldn't sleep and had been in contact with a positive case.

Tested positive yesterday and have same symptoms as you like a really bad cold and hot and cold and achey.

Feeling fed up but unsurprised as I have been supply teaching across 2 schools who have staff off with covid. I'm annoyed as I'm losing money missing out on supply work and I thought my risk was low Having all my jabs and already had covid 🙄

fortyfourfeasts · 20/03/2022 12:59

Hello all. Day 9 here, still positive. Line on test seemed darker than day before.

Felt good this morning, even DH remarked I seemed more myself. Set about cracking on with stuff, and hey ho - now I'm back on the sofa with jelly legs and needing to sleep. Grrr

Sapphireskies · 20/03/2022 13:13

Yep my first time. Just feeling like a bad cold atm.

Yay can't see a line! There's hope for you 😅
Iamanunsafebuilding · 20/03/2022 14:24

I'm on day 5 and feel brighter today. Tbf I haven't felt terrible at all but my head felt really stuffy yesterday and feels clearer today. I'm going to test tomorrow but I'm not expecting a negative! I'm taking my mum out on Friday as her Mother's Day present and that will be day 10 so should be ok 🤞🏻

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/03/2022 14:45

Day 2 for me. Still feel the same as yesterday not bad but it's my knees that are killing me as they ache so much. One of my friends who had Covid in January had extremely achy joints.

Blizy · 20/03/2022 15:19

@TracyBeakerSoYeah yes my knees hurt so much too!

inappropriateraspberry · 20/03/2022 15:39

Apparently it's now running rife around my son's preschool, his party may have to be postponed again 😞

Nightowlpossibly · 20/03/2022 19:22

Day 7 still testing positive and have a new symptom
Loss of smell and taste.
Is this normal 7 days in? Thought I would be starting to recover.
And thought loss of smell and taste came as early symptoms.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 20/03/2022 19:37

Dsis said it happened at about a week.

Threeboysandadog · 20/03/2022 19:45

Two whole years we have managed to avoid it and ds3 (15) tested +ve this morning Sad. He had a bad headache and felt very dizzy on Friday evening but tested -ve, felt a bit better yesterday and still -ve but complained of a sore throat this morning and test was +ve.

He has been banished to his room (which, unfortunately, is really small). He has all his IT stuff his keyboard and guitars, Netflix and Prime TV, so has plenty to do. Ds1, ds2, dh and I all tested -ve today. Fearing the worst but hoping for the best. Dh got the letter for his spring booster yesterday. He’s vulnerable so I’m hoping he won’t catch it.

BigButtons · 20/03/2022 20:49

This thread has helped me get through these last 9 days. Day 10 tomorrow. I have to go to the supermarket but am going very early and will wear a mask.
I am feeling tired again today.
I spoke to a friend who had covid in December he says he still feels extra tired. This is what I am hearing from many friends . I hope to God that doesn’t happen with me. It probably will though.

Verity226 · 20/03/2022 21:45

Evening all, just caught up with the thread. It's great to see some of you are on the mend, long may it continue.

waves to the newcomers

Today is day 10 (i think - losing count!) since my positive test, day 12 since symptoms started.

What a horrible experience this has been. You wouldn't have thought I'd had it in the past, I have been completely battered by the bloody thing this time around.

I'm feeling alot better today, not 100% but alot closer to it than I was yesterday.

Remaining symptoms are: headache, snot lots of that and general malaise/fatigue.

My DC have the green light to go back to nursery tomorrow and I'm so relieved. Two weeks isolating with my autistic son, plus the younger two, has almost finished me off. He doesn't cope with a change of routine, or being kept indoors, so it has been tough.

It was my birthday on the 12th and I've spent the whole period stuck indoors, no celebrations at all, so I'm going to make sure I do something nice this week.

@PurpleOranges How are you doing? I thought about you this afternoon. I was saying to my OH how much this fortnight trapped inside has affected my mood. I know you've been struggling so just wanted to extend another handhold Flowers

@BigButtons I was worried about the same thing yesterday and it felt like it would never end, I've really turned a corner today though and the likelihood is that you will too. I'm day 10 today and it feels like a turning point. I really hope tomorrow is better for you too Flowers
