Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

Day 9 here now. Keep thinking I’m ok, then do something and tire so easily. But the biggest issue is..as soon as I go outside (driving school run as no other option) I get dizzy, have chest pains and palpitations and feel horrid.

The racing heart and chest pains are scaring me. All other symptoms have gone but this is making me feel awful

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 19/03/2022 21:28

Day 1 here I only tested as my partner tested positive. Quite surprised as I thought I just had a bout of sinusitis.
We are in Wales so rules different about self isolating - currently 5 days.

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 19/03/2022 21:30

Managed to avoid it so far but alas it has finally found me!

Started Monday with a bad cold - cough, blocked nose, exactly how I am when I have a cold so I didn't even think about it being Covid and I feel so ashamed that I've been willingly around people 🙈 Monday afternoon felt like I'd been hit by a bus. Seemed to pick up through the week; thought I had a chest infection so was taking cough medicine which seemed to help loosen the mucus on my chest. Friday I tested positive, no idea what day I'm on - if I felt bad Monday I'm assuming I'm now day 6? I'm wfh next week and have to test Wednesday as that will be my day 5 after my positive test.

Nose isn't anywhere near as blocked, cough has calmed down but today the headache... my word! I took paracetamol and it didn't even touch it, I'm prone to sinusitis and it feels exactly like that around my nose and forehead. A lovely poster on here recommended beconaise which I have some of so I'll give that a go tonight.

Oh, I also look like I've been dug up!

inappropriateraspberry · 19/03/2022 21:37

It's a nightmare! This is helpful. If you can go out on day 7 with a negative test, I'd say day 10 you can actually go out on. I don't think a few hours would make a big difference!
You count the first day of symptoms of positive test (whichever is first) as day 0. It's a lot of working out when you're head's not quite with it!

SpaceyCake · 19/03/2022 21:41

Haha, I have the weirdest symptom. The centre bit of my bottom lip has been numb since my positive test, and I only just realised it has to be Covid related. I found quite a few old posts on Twitter about people reporting the same thing, and I guess it makes sense because Covid can give you all sorts of nerve weirdness. It is annoying though!

Yeah, the fatigue sucks. I feel like I should be doing more things seeing as I'm not feeling too bad, but I just lack the energy! I have accomplished very little today and it's irritating. Maybe tomorrow I can be productive again.

hellcatspangle · 19/03/2022 21:49

I'm on day 9 and my red line is still bloody blazing on the LFT. I wouldn't mind if I felt ill but I've been fine for five days 🙄

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 22:08

@hellcatspangle one more day for you and it won’t matter anyway!

Verity226 · 19/03/2022 22:21

An old school friend has been posting on Facebook that she and her OH are ill with something nasty, they've done several covid tests and all were negative.

I've just seen another post from just now saying "well it's not covid I've got it's bird flu"

Somebody asked her why she thought it was bird flu and she said because the symptoms fit.

I shouldn't laugh but I did Grin

I bet it's covid. My other half tested negative at first despite having a high temperature. It's not unusual to test negative on lateral flows for up to a week I've heard.

I've suggested she gets a PCR. Bless her.

I know but I've missed two weekend activities this weekend and last week so I'm feeling sorry for myself.

I'm also concerned that I could still be infectious, as my dad is very vulnerable and I don't want to go near him if I'm not clear. Would love to know how reliable these tests are at determining your infectious ness to others!

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 22:40

@hellcatspangle exactly the same with me. My mum has terminal cancer and has been missing my visits. I will wear a mask when I see her next week.

Stormchaser1502 · 19/03/2022 23:12

hellcatspangle - I’d hang onto the fact you’re not symptomatic anymore.

Day 9 test and blazing positive too!! Symptoms have been for nearly 2 weeks now. Still symptomatic and feeling really fed up.
Have missed my bday celebrations, plus had to cancel loads of things. But just keep thinking that there are loads worse off. A lot lot worse off

TypicaIMe · 20/03/2022 07:48

Well that'll teach me to be optimistic.

I thought I'd turned a corner yesterday. This morning (day 8) I've turned right back around.

LFT is still as positive as it was a week ago, if not more so. I woke through the night with the worst nausea and headache. The spaciness is still there.

It'll be ten days on Tuesday and no way do I think I'll be well enough to go about my business.

I've not been outside for over a week and I'd be bored if I could summon the will to be! I feel like I've had all the stuffing knocked out of me.

DD an DH both completely negative and happily going about their business isn't helping with my mood. I mean I'm happy for them but also very, very jealous!

How is everyone else this morning?

EventuallyDelighted · 20/03/2022 07:59

I feel completely normal this morning (day 7) but was still strongly + yesterday. I keep thinking "I'll go and put some laundry on"
or whatever and realising I shouldn't because DH (-) is in the kitchen. So I'm still in bed wondering how best to keep out of the way of the negative half of the family. I am very grateful no one works from home so it has only been the weekend when they've been around during the day.

Sadandfedup2 · 20/03/2022 08:05

Hello everyone. Day 4 here. After a previous night of complete insomnia slept right through last night. Weak as a kitten though, barely able to stagger to the toilet. Head cold was bad yesterday but seems less so today. Really dizzy and faint. Hope you guys are feeling better

Chocolatetrifle · 20/03/2022 08:18

Good morning, how is everyone?

Day 5 positive for me. Last night my sense of taste was really altered. Up with my two children before 6 but still aches and pains and fatigue so back taking paracetamol.

Take it easy everyone and we will get there.

MrsAmber · 20/03/2022 08:29

Woke up this morning feeling rubbish took a Covid test and it’s positive, first time for me.

Regarding work, a couple of people have recently had it and stayed off so I’m going to do the right thing and stay away, even though we’ve had no clear guidance.

EventuallyDelighted · 20/03/2022 08:54

Surprisingly, as I had a thick black line yesterday, my lft line was barely visible this morning. Wasn't expecting that. Day 7. I will go out for a short walk today I think (can go out from the house without risking being close to people here).

DollyPartBaked · 20/03/2022 08:54

Day 7 here - no fever but continue to have a terrible terrible sore throat and no energy. Was hoping to feel better then I do by now to be honest.

Can't face another week of it and the kids are watching so many cartoons.

ancientgran · 20/03/2022 10:00

Day 21 and after 2 days feeling alot better I seem to have gone backwards. Bad coughing in the night, high temperature and quite delirious at times.

CottonSock · 20/03/2022 10:03

Here are my LFTs today and yesterday. Do I have any hope of early escape? Feeling not likely and a bit down today as I've run out of easy ideas to do in garden.

My dd did test total negative today which is better news. She was first so day 8 or 9.

Is anybody else currently positive?
inappropriateraspberry · 20/03/2022 10:04

Feeling a bit better today, day 5! Will test a bit later. Although only day 5, I have been stuck at home for 2 weeks as my daughter had it before me. Her day 10 and I tested positive! Then the DC had the runs, so couldn't go back to school anyway. Hoping we can get back to normality tomorrow with school etc. Going stir crazy!

inappropriateraspberry · 20/03/2022 10:05

@CottonSock My daughter had that, really faint, but there, then negative the next day.

BigButtons · 20/03/2022 10:07

Day 9 for me. I am feeling much better but still have rivers of mucus and am coughing loads- postal nasal drip I think.lovely.
Hope those getting better manage to get someone sunshine and those feeling very poorly manage to get some rest x

OrlandointheWilderness · 20/03/2022 10:08

I'm day 9 and still showing up a faint positive. Given up on early release. Still have the cough and exhaustion is incredible. Brain is foggy and I have a permanent headache. My dd has it too now but on day 2 is merrily chatting to her friends (FaceTime!) looking fine!

BigButtons · 20/03/2022 10:10

@CottonSock I really don’t know if the tests work like that. I have looked online but can find nowhere that says a faint positive is any different to a strong one.
I was thinking they might fade as time goes on. Bit like a pregnancy test in reverse. I think it has to do with the swabs. Some days you pick up more gunk than others.
I will do mine in a minute and see how it compares to yesterday’s.
