Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

Day 5 for me and I'm feeling a lot better than I did. I'm still full of gunge and coughing lots, headache from hell still present and I'm exhausted. No temp or chills today though!
1 yo dd is on day 6 she's been ok the last 2 days but she's unwell again been vomiting and is off her food (so unlike her).
Covid really is a bastard of a virus.
@BigButtons I'm so sorry to hear about your mum.

Saucery · 19/03/2022 09:16

Oh no, BigButtons I’m so sorry.

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 09:24

@Chocolatetrifle my day 10 will be Monday. I am a bit confused as to whether I am allowed to mingle on day 10 or have to wait for day 11?
Thank you for you kind words x

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 09:25

Thank you all.
Who is going to try and get outside today? Even if just for a short while🙂

MyBottomDecides · 19/03/2022 09:34

BigButtons I'm so sorry about your DM, and that this lingering shite of a bug is preventing you from seeing her.

Sorry too that PP are struggling with isolating. I'm fortunate in that both my DC had it before me so not doing isolating in the house and garden, much easier.

Day 5 since positive, 7 since symptoms, a big black immediate line on the test and fuck do I feel spacey. Clear runny nose and productive cough. Until I had some paracetamol I felt actively shit, now I just feel drugged.

EventuallyDelighted · 19/03/2022 09:35

I can't go outside today as next door have tradesmen working on the boundary of our small gardens. But I did spend pretty well all day yesterday in the garden. I have been quite fortunate as DD and I have been + together so not needed to isolate from one another. DS and DH have been out at work/school so we have been downstairs every day till they get home then masks and distancing if we do have to pop downstairs (only bathroom is downstairs so we do). They have gone out together today too.

Hello! I'm on day 4, awful headaches and tired out - afternoon naps are helping! Apart from that no fever, chills, aches etc. My 6 yo daughter had it last week and seemed fine after the first day, when she had a headache.
Children are going to mum's for tonight, so at least that will give us a break! Original plan was we were going away this weekend to a spa hotel, but that had to be cancelled 😞

WeatherwaxOn · 19/03/2022 09:45

Thired day clear here. Headache, low energy, ears feel hot and bunged up (like they do when you've sneezed and sneezed) and have a roaring in them.

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 10:12

This morning I rinsed out my nasal cavities with a saline wash, gargled with salt water. Rinsed my mouth out then went for a shower etc.
Waited a good 30 mins and did a test. So far negative- there may be Hope!

unim · 19/03/2022 10:17

Hey everyone. I'm on day 4. Felt fine to start with, then pretty grotty for a day and had terrible dreams, then much much better yesterday (as if I was over it!) but now feeling like I have a sore throat and it's coming back!

I'm a single parent and I've been expected to take the children in to school every day so have been doing so wearing a mask.

I am dreading when free tests end, I can see how easily this will spread and what a total nightmare it will be for parents if we are all ill all the time.

Yesss!!!

Fingers crossed for you Smile

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 11:08

@TypicaIMe it is still positive but the line is very very faint- not like yesterday’s black sharpie line. Getting there 😍😍

Luckyme2 · 19/03/2022 11:12

Thought I was day 9 but I’m in Wales and just had nhs text saying my isolation period has ended so 🤷‍♂️
Have had my first negative test result today too but still coughing and have a sore throat.
Thought my ‘release’ day would feel more exciting to be honest 😂
Hope everyone feels better soon

Frosty1000 · 19/03/2022 11:18

Day 6 here and still positive, a lighter line so happy dance!!

Feel pretty yuck though still, just aches and fatigue which I can't shake. DS now negative for the first time, he's day 8 and now DH tested positive last night and right on cue is dying 😬

I'll have to do school run Monday but having a quiet weekend. I enjoyed being out in the sunny garden yesterday so that's the plan for today and a night walk with DS as it'll be quieter.

Feel better soon everyone x

You sound exactly like me!

The spaced out drugged feeling is quite unnerving isn't it. It's not something I recall ever feeling with any other virus.

@PurpleOranges

Day 7 and I feel so deeply depressed I can't stop crying. It's the lack of human contact I think, at least my dog can be in the same room as me. I've always been prone to depression, been on ADs for years, hopefully it'll lift when I'm covid free.
Oh love I'm so sorry.

I have found my mental health taking a nose dive too. Chat on here as much as you like, happy to extend a virtual hand hold for as long as you need it Flowers

Children are now at my parents, so some peace and quiet and a lie in tomorrow! I'll have to do the school run on Monday, but it'll be day 7, hopefully negative tests and I'll feel better. It's not too bad though as the school is a 3 minute walk away!

Verity226 · 19/03/2022 12:17

I'm pretty sure the covid has morphed into sinusitis. My forehead hurts and never before in my life have I ever had so much thick, bright green glue-like snot blocking up my nose. I'm going through tissue like nobodies business.

Does it sound like sinusitis? I've never had it before but the symptoms seem to fit

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 12:53

@Verity226 it does sound like it. Drink fluids . Sprays from chemists can help. Mine were becoming like that- luckily I still has some steroid nasal spray from my bout of sinusitis in December. I needed antibiotics on the end though. This time the spray has really helped. My nose is pouring snot still but it’s not as thick and green.

Good shout on the nasal spray, I'll get OH to grab me some later on.

How do you know if you need antibiotics BTW?

Day 6 positive here
Two years dodging this thing and bam himself gets it then me...
he's on day 9 positive. How long can he be infectious for??

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 13:15

@Verity226 basically after about three weeks it wasn’t going away with other treatments and the pain was getting worse and worse. They are very reluctant to give them . They cleared mine up within days, however .
I am prone to sinusitis though. Often have post nasal drip- obviously mine are very excitable 😂

fortyfourfeasts · 19/03/2022 13:41

Day 8 here. Line on LFT is now getting fainter. Still coughing but only other symptom is the TIREDNESS. Oh my, it's ridiculous. It's like trying to move through glue!

For those of you with the sinus pain, I truly thought another infection had set in too, but it did pass. I had a cough bought on by that beautifully named post-nasal drip before Covid so had been using Beconase nasal spray, I got some more this week and it helped the sinus pain a lot. Could be coincidental though - who knows with this bloody virus.

@BigButtons I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. I'm sure it's all going to pass soon Thanks

And I think even if you're still testing positive on Day 11, I'm told you can mingle. Your viral load is so low you're unlikely to pass it on. But, don't know how comfortable I'd be around other people!

BigButtons · 19/03/2022 13:45

@fortyfourfeasts thank you. In my hours of boredom and loneliness I have been Googling, as you do.
Government website says that yea you are free to go at the end of day 10z it suggest that if you are around people like my mum that you might like to reduce contact or wear a mask etc.
Thing is I don’t even really know when my day one was. Test says Saturday , symptoms say Wednesday.
