Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

First clear test this morning, although they have been getting fainter. Sore throat and cough come back, though! Feel wiped out again after a fantastic day yesterday. I didn’t do too much, either, just felt 100% better.

Can you go for a walk @BigButtons? Even a tiny one might help. You could have a mask or a buff in case anyone wanted to speak to you. No need to say you have Covid, just that you’ve had it recently.

BigButtons · 18/03/2022 08:33

@Saucery yes I am planning to go for a walk. It will do me good. It is a beautiful day here and it will be lovely to feel the warm sun on my skin🙂

Saucery · 18/03/2022 08:36

Yes, at least the weather is doing us a favour and being all Spring-y and hopeful! Grin

TypicaIMe · 18/03/2022 09:08

Day six since positive. When will this end Sad

DH (also day six) is almost back to normal. DD (day ten, has been negative for three days) is back to full fitness. I however am a ball of aching, angry snot.

Just fuck off please covid.

CottonSock · 18/03/2022 09:17

@bigbuttons both me and the kids are getting like hunger pains. Trying to stop myself over eating.

CottonSock · 18/03/2022 09:22

@Iamanunsafebuilding sorry about your trip, but good job covered by insurance.

I feel grumpy enough cancelling my lovely day of lunch, hair cut, and dinner out. Plus all the kids activities and possibly everything for next week too.

I'm in Wales so still strict isolation... until the end of the month then in might just stop overnight. Dh said 1 in 25 people have it right now. I feel isolation should continue!

fortyfourfeasts · 18/03/2022 09:29

Still positive here. Day 7, a strong dark line 😖
Getting quite down now. But I'm so tired, I just can't get the energy to do anything. I have no idea how I'll cope back at work.
Work sounds mental, so many big events planned before we break up for Easter, I needed a 2 hour sleep after a shower yesterday. I'll be asleep after the first lesson at this rate!
Hoping the tiredness goes when the virus goes!

BigButtons · 18/03/2022 09:33

@fortyfourfeasts a teacher at my school, late twenties and healthy, caught it last June. She has long covid and was off completely until after the Christmas break. Even now she is on a staged return and does 4 mornings a week and is wiped out. She thinks it is likely she won’t be able to go back full time and will have to permanently drop her hours. I feel so sorry for her.

ancientgran · 18/03/2022 09:38

Day 19 and definitely feel I'm on the mend, coughing fit are fewer but when they hit they are still bad, I still have shiny red vampire eyes but hopefully that will resolve. The worst thing is the tiredness, I am doing more but in short bursts with lots of rest in between.

Hope everyone is starting to feel better soon. It is pretty miserable and I've noticed hospital admissions in my area are going up sharply. Mild? Not my version of mild.

PurpleOranges · 18/03/2022 09:41

Day 6 here and my sense of smell has vanished overnight! I'm also very hot and sweaty, can't seem to cool down, kidney pains have gone though.

20viona · 18/03/2022 09:42

I'm day 2, feeling tons better than yesterday afternoon where I felt like death and I'm 13 weeks pregnant too and have to miss my dating scan today so I'm very annoyed. My husband has been in bed since Tuesday so I'm fending for myself and my 2 year old and it's not fun!

MyBottomDecides · 18/03/2022 10:04

Day 6 since symptoms, 4 since positive. I relate to @TypicalMe : ball of aching angry snot is about right! Yesterday I felt good around the tiredness and did quite a lot, bit started with shivers and lung pain in the evening. Today I have blocked stuffy ears and a bonfire in my chest. It seems to be worse now than it was on day 4 which is disappointing. Lemsips are definitely helping though.

badamsgirl · 18/03/2022 10:11

Day 9 for me from first symptoms- day 7 from first positive-finally got a negative test (unless you really really squinted), but still have hideous headache, coughing more than i did a week ago and snotty so i don't think it's quite gone yet.

fortyfourfeasts · 18/03/2022 10:36

@BigButtons That's just awful 😞
I've just had a chat with my lovely GP who has signed me off for two weeks. She said I may not need it, but she said better to take time to recover now rather than end up on long term sick.
But the guilt....

Ciderisrosier · 18/03/2022 11:55

Day 6 for me. The chest discomfort is unreal. It came on last night don’t have much of a cough. Still pretty lethargic and trying not to spend too much time obsessively worrying about how tight my chest feels.

AuntieMarys · 18/03/2022 12:26

I'm still waiting for PCR result. Day 7. Still testing negative on LFTs. Dh is positive but currently gardening

BigButtons · 18/03/2022 14:27

@fortyfourfeasts they will survive. Honestly they will. You concentrate on getting properly better🙂

Verity226 · 18/03/2022 14:37

I spoke too soon yesterday, I was feeling much better but I seem to have gone backwards a bit today. The spaced out and disorientated ill feeling is back with a vengeance. Feel a bit breathless and wiped out.

Aw sorry to hear this. It does chime with what me and DH have had this time round, though - thinking we're turning a corner only to find we haven't, even sometimes just a few hours later. It was exactly like this with our first infection back in February 2020, right down to the way new symptoms would just suddenly pop up then disappear again within hours.

I've just had some codeine and an Aldi Titan bar which is about as rock'n'roll as it's going to get today I think.

Absolutely this yes. I had quite the continuous cough when I woke up this morning, but didn't feel this spaced out.

Fast forward a few hours the cough has gone away but I'm left feeling as though I've been drugged Confused

Hello all. I hope everyone's starting to feel better.

Day 2 for me I guess. I had a fairly faint positive yesterday but had a blazing line this morning. I feel like I have a bit of a cold and I'm a bit tired but otherwise I feel ok. I wonder if this is going to get worse? DH is still negative but he's been in bed for two days. Confused

Chocolatetrifle · 18/03/2022 15:36

Day 3 for me, had awful chills yesterday and had to sit in a hot bath. Feel wiped out as soon as any paracetamol wear off. 3 out of 4 of us are positive here.

Hope everyone feels a bit better tomorrow.

ShowMeYourMethod · 18/03/2022 15:48

It's strange how the symptoms come and go.

I felt so much better this morning - all chipper and thinking I was on the mend - now I am coughing and wheezing and feel rough again.

It's also really hard waiting and hoping for the negative test - my day 5 is tomorrow. At least when it was 10 days you were resigned to it. In my head I had banked on 5 days and then released day 6 ....but now I have realised that is by no means a guarantee.

EventuallyDelighted · 18/03/2022 16:16

I had been mentally banking on 5 days too but day 5 today and the line looked as though I'd used a sharpie Sad

Chocolatetrifle · 18/03/2022 16:16

@ShowMeYourMethod, this only dawned on me yesterday too. Nothing guaranteed by day 5 and 6 and thinking we might be positive all next week too. Me and DH and 4 year old are all positive , a couple of days apart, 2 year old is negative. I've got quite a lot of nausea with it today.
