Second time for me. First time was July of 2020 (asymptomatic then)

How are you doing? What symptoms do you have? How long ago did it start for you?

I tested positive this morning after I had an inkling that my 'cold' could possibly be covid.

I have a mild cough, bit pleghmy and my body aches. I was hot and cold throughout the night so didn't sleep well at all. Very scary dreams too Confused

I have 3 young children, two of which started feeling unwell on Monday but are alot better now bar some snot. I'm a little worried about my baby though, he's 4 months. He seems fine during the day but during the night he sounds quite croaky and congested.

If anybody wants to keep us company whilst we recover that would be lovely as I'm a tiny bit nervous.

I managed to be ‘up’ for nearly 2 hours this morning. Back on the sofa now utterly exhausted and dizzy again. I suppose that is some sort of progress?

I agreed to do antibody testing too but no sign of a kit yet. Is it one of those finger-prick and squeeze the blood out jobs? I have to do that for work to see whether I need a hepatitis B booster.

Yes, you get 3 lancets in case you need more than one attempt, surgical wipe, plasters for finger, little tube to collect the blood, sealable bag to put it all in afterwards, box to pack it in and prepaid envelope plus a form to put date and time of test and a sticky label for the tube. Very good instructions and you can also watch a video online. It just looked a bit daunting when I first opened it but actually it was a well thoughtout kit.

I got my positive late on the Wednesday night and the test arrived on the Friday. I waited till the Monday to do it as I wasn't sure about it hanging about in the post for the weekend and I got the result on the Tuesday.

I am due to get another one approx 28 days after the first.

@Saucery

Sorry it’s hanging on so long for you, ancientgran that sounds rotten. I wouldn’t have minded the non-drug diary group but didn’t want to chance being given the drugs that could give me the shits on top of everything else going on Grin.
We're all different aren't we. I'd really like to feel I was doing something positive and I know the control group is also positive but it doesn't feel as much as actually taking the antivirals. I said to a friend that I was doing an antiviral trial and when I said I wasn't getting the antivirals she laughed at me. Made me feel a bit rubbish.

At my age I don't feel I can do much to help but volunteering for trials seemed like something I could do and hopefully it will help others. I am making sure I'm filling in my diary every day so I hope it is useful.

EventuallyDelighted · 16/03/2022 10:42

It's just as important to be part of the control group as the anti-viral group, I used to work in the field of clinical trials and find this stuff fascinating. Sorry your friend was so dismissive @ancientgran.

I've started filling in my Zoe app again, hadn't bothered for a few months but again it feels good to making a contribution.

Jules912 · 16/03/2022 10:49

Day 4 here, up until yesterday I'd say I've had worse cold but today I ache all over and really dizzy.

Verity226 · 16/03/2022 10:55

Does anybody else feel totally spaced out?

BigButtons · 16/03/2022 11:07

@Verity226 yes- I do. Like I am not quite in my own body.

Thank you for that. I find it a comfort that this misery is doing something positive for science and beating covid.

FFS now I have a raging headache and ear ache. It feels like my head is being squeezed. My ears are ringing so loudly. I have tinnitus anyway but now it is much worse. I also keep thinking I am about to throw up.
Piss off covid.

That’s quite unkind of her!

Multitalented little shithead of a virus isn’t it @BigButtons

My arms feel as though they have been lifting heavy weights, all weak and feeble. I haven't lifted anything heavier than a bag of clean laundry from the washing machine to the dryer.

BigButtons · 16/03/2022 12:02

@Saucery it really bloody is. I quite clearly have vestibular issues. I seriously think I am going to faint and I am lying down.☹️

Horribly so. I'm a pain killers veteran because of my RA - I feel like I did the first time I took two tramadol, many years ago. Like I'm underwater/in a bubble. Also like my ears are full of water.

All of this, too! The tinnitus was so bad last night I honestly thought the Alexa was on in the bedroom and there was some sort of weird avant garde music on. My nausea comes and goes.

I think normally I'd have told her where to go but it is horrible when you are feeling so ill and fragile. I keep crying at TV shows never mind anything else.
TypicaIMe · 16/03/2022 12:53

DD (who tested v v strongly positive a week ago today) has just done a negative test. I meanwhile (positive since Saturday lunchtime) have just done my most glaringly positive one yet, like a thick black marker line. I'm not too surprised because today is the most ill/out of it I've felt, but I am disappointed (and massively jealous of DD!).

My taste seems to be fading - I can only get a vague sense of the flavour of things. And my espresso candle just smells like burning sugar - not a bad smell, just a wrong one!

It really is! Grin

BigButtons · 16/03/2022 13:05

@TypicaIMe that’s shite.
On a happier note my OH has just managed to get tickets to see the Rolling Stones in July. That has cheered me up. I hope to be better by then. Joking but not joking.
This week at school the photographers were coming and we were told we all had to have our photos renewed. I was mightily relived that I would have to miss it. Just seen an email saying there are so many staff and children off sick that it has been cancelled and will be re booked. Curses.

KatyRebecca84 · 16/03/2022 13:16

Day 5 for me. I’ve literally got a mild cold is all. DH is a lot worse off and not vaccinated. Horrific headache that actually made him sick earlier and he’s been asleep for the last four hours. Ibuprofen and paracetamol not helping him. He’s also had the shivers. He’s on day 6 and was better yesterday but over did it. DS3 positive this morning snotty nose, cough and temp in night but full of beans still!!

Anyone else had horrific headache and any advice?

PiesNotGuys · 16/03/2022 13:18

Day nine here and still positive on the latflow My worst symptom by far is the chest pain, it’s just debilitating and awful to breathe in and out. I’m managing, just, but after work I feel like I’ve got nothing left and just want to lie down/sleep but I can’t because of the dcs (two are positive with me, one is negative with dh)

Anyone found anything that works on the chest pain? I feel like I could manage if it weren’t for that.

Dihydrocodeine helped me alot on days 1 and 2
JS87 · 16/03/2022 13:44

Day 7 here. First few days very mild. Sore throat and slight cough and runny nose. Fuzzy head started on day 4. That’s getting better but felt nauseous since yesterday. Also had reflux/indigestion on and off the whole time. Also felt nauseous on day 2 Sad

TypicaIMe · 16/03/2022 16:06

My hearing has just completely gone in my right ear, so that's fun.

It feels like my ear has 'popped' or is really congested. It's playing havoc with my balance and making me feel even more spaced out than I was.

I can't even put my earbuds in to watch Netflix. Dickhead covidwank!

Luckyme2 · 16/03/2022 16:23

That’s me! Except it’s my left ear. And left side of my throat feels like knives when I swallow. Head so congested feels like I’m underwater. I’m day 6 😔
