No isolation when covid positive in March

I just cannot get my head around this.

As far as I know, no other country has announced this.

For two years they’ve told us that it’s dangerous and now they’re prepared to send me to work directly next to someone infected with covid?

I had always believed it should be more socially acceptable to simply stay home when sick, as too many feel forced in to work with flu etc, but this takes the biscuit.

I understand we need to find a way to get back to some kind of normal but this seems extreme.

Will this really happen in less than 2 months!?

Who’s planning holidays ? And which thread are you on ? If you think anyone who has spent the last two years fearing for their lives is planning a holiday once restrictions are lifted you’re obviously misunderstanding.

Gas lighting much I said there was a thread it's not hard to find it's in same section.

tigger1001 · 02/02/2022 22:02

@Tealightsandd

Thankfully omicron has not been as bad as many said last November

Correct. It's been worse.

I'd better leave you all to it. I'm off to enjoy some time offline.

Have a good evening all.
😷💉

Not entirely sure how the figures were worse than predicted.

Tsunami was the worst used in Scotland to describe what was heading our way. Hospitalisations, while they did increase, did not surpass previous waves, which given the case numbers highlights it was milder than previous variants. Scotland lifted all their additional restrictions for omicron mid January.

Still have face masks here, but they don't seem to have a big impact given face masks have been worn here since they were introduced yet our rates were very similar to England. At some points englands rates were better.

Tealightsandd · 02/02/2022 22:16

Briefly popped back online for another thread.

Busy day tomorrow but I'll try to drop by with some links for here.

I'd love to be wrong and hope I am. I'm not overly hopeful but hey ho you never know.

It’s fine, please don’t trouble yourself.

user1477391263 · 03/02/2022 00:13

Look, no one is suggesting that we lock down or continue isolation - I agree that it’s just not sustainable long term. Mask wearing is not sustainable long term either - I totally agree. But there has to be something better than take off the brakes and it’s every man for himself !!

Like what? We don't have a magic "Off" button for the virus.

The science doesn’t support what the government’s doing and I for one don’t intend to trust a government led by a proven liar to have my best interests at heart when they’ve already demonstrated quite clearly that they don't care about anyone but themselves.

I agree Boris is a shit, but do you really think this situation would be much better with a different government? Countries all over the world are wrestling with the dilemma you have described. Nobody really has the perfect answer.

Rosscameasdoody · 03/02/2022 08:40

@MissMaple82

It's never been dangerous. You've got more chance of being hit by a bus
I don’t think the 157k people who died and the families who grieve for them would agree with you.

Gaslighting ? Sorry - don’t know what you mean. I read back through this thread before posting and couldn’t find any posts referring to holidays. Pardon me for not realising there was another thread on the subject until someone pointed it out. How is that gaslighting ? And for anyone who is vulnerable to be planning a holiday they must be fairly certain they will be safe. Sadly, not everyone can do that and I think if I announced to my RA consultant that I was planning a holiday at this point she’d probably disown me. Please don’t lump us all together because everyone has different risk factors.

I’m not saying anyone has the perfect answer - I don’t think there is a perfect answer. I think the only thing we can do is see what happens in March when all restrictions are lifted. Until then, those who are most at risk will have to continue to shield as far as possible.
Blubells · 03/02/2022 08:58

Denmark has just lifted ALL restrictions and people who test positive don't need to isolate any longer. Despite cases remaining very high!

I’ll be interesting to see where Denmark are by the time we lift all restrictions here then. I read somewhere that a high proportion of Danes live alone - don’t know what if any impact that would have on Covid figures.

One of first to do it I think?

Feels a big deal

More will follow soon I guess

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2022 09:16

It does seem a big deal. Encouraging.

They are very busy remember. But here’s the all important emojis 😷💉in the meantime. Plus Hepa filters/ventilation/seat belts/long Covid/ mitigations (bolded for good measure) to keep you going..,
bumblefeline · 04/02/2022 00:52

Thanks for the emojis will sleep tonight now I've seen the syringe and mask.

2X4B523P · 04/02/2022 00:57

I’m a bit disappointed, stayed up late in anticipation too. Wanted to share my thoughts on turning the hepa filter in my vacuum cleaner into a high efficiency face mask.

Tealightsandd · 04/02/2022 01:31

think they're seriously disturbed and I actually think it's irresponsible of MN to allow them to keep posting like this.

Right. Posting information from experts in their field - virologists, epidemiologists, cardiologists, immunologists, including the WHO is 'irresponsible'. Ok.

I'll tell you what I find rather disturbing. A willingness to accept the bodies piling up - or becoming Long Covid disabled.

I've had a busy day and got caught up on some non Covid threads earlier, hence no links. I would post tomorrow but perhaps not. You don't want to know. You support the move to end daily death reports so people can pretend the bodies aren't piling up

I shouldn't be surprised. I remember a while back several posters (can't remember who) asking that scientists be stopped from speaking to the media.

Goodness - and people talk about the CCP!

I've no idea why the link won't paste but there was a good article in America the other day. Here's a very relevant bit,

One thing’s for sure, some experts say: Long COVID will have a huge effect on individuals, health care systems and economies around the world, costing many billions of dollars.

I think it's best I leave it at that. I'll give you what you want. My removal from thread so you can enjoy your echo chamber.

Like I've said before. I hope the experts and me are wrong. Sadly that hasn't been the case so far but you never know. We all get it wrong sometimes. Fingers crossed 🤞

Goodnight. Remember...masks, vaccines, good ventilation.
😷💉

Tealightsandd · 04/02/2022 01:43

Alright just one final thing.

Many of us (the experts and me) aren't arguing for anything radical or economy restricting.

We're advocating for simple and easy measures that benefit the economy - but would also protect the more vulnerable.

Masks, vaccines, good ventilation. Basic infection control.

A mark of a civilised society is how it treats its most vulnerable.

These past two years there's been very vocal pleas for empathy and regard for mental health wrt people struggling with lockdown or terrified of vaccines. It's a pity that the same courtesy isn't extended to the millions of CV (and soon to be CV due to Long Covid).

It's frankly quite bizarre that there is so much resistance and outright hostility towards simple mitigations - that keep society open and the healthcare system and economy running, whilst also allowing all to genuinely live with it.

Although actual numbers of people in hospital/ICU due to covid might have been less than previous waves, the impact has still been huge. Lets not forget the millions of people still on waiting lists for delayed treatment, the 3 weeks of cancelled routine GP appointments due to booster roll-out, military drafted in, firefighters driving the ambulances, more children admitted than ever before (although not desperately ill, it's still not desirable). I think the focus should move away from hospitalisations and deaths, and look at winder impact of a massive amount of infection going forward.

You'd prefer an echo chamber with no alternate voices? Tea is one of the few left that challenge the prevailing view on this board. It's healthy. She is never rude, as some others can be, and backs up her statements with good sources. I believe it's irresponsible of MN to allow the level of unpleasantness and intimidation they let posters get away with on the board.

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2022 06:07

I would post tomorrow but perhaps not

I’d go for ‘not’.

Sparklingbrook · 04/02/2022 06:11

As for not being rude I think repeatedly saying ‘bodies piling up’ (or variants of) on every post is really upsetting and insensitive for anyone who has lost someone to this virus. Sad

Flapjacker48 · 04/02/2022 06:29

@Tealightsandd you're biggest lie is saying you are "making a final post"

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 04/02/2022 06:48

@PandorasBex well said.
