No isolation when covid positive in March

I just cannot get my head around this.

As far as I know, no other country has announced this.

For two years they’ve told us that it’s dangerous and now they’re prepared to send me to work directly next to someone infected with covid?

I had always believed it should be more socially acceptable to simply stay home when sick, as too many feel forced in to work with flu etc, but this takes the biscuit.

I understand we need to find a way to get back to some kind of normal but this seems extreme.

Will this really happen in less than 2 months!?

Thankfully omicron has not been as bad as many said last November

Correct. It's been worse.

I'd better leave you all to it. I'm off to enjoy some time offline.

Have a good evening all.

@MarshaBradyo

Ross what do you want in place and for how long?
Not particularly anything officially in place. We can’t afford any more lockdowns or self isolating - it’s just too damaging for most people on a personal level and the country as a whole. I guess just a bit of understanding that when you’ve spent so long being told your life is at risk and you have to be careful, it’s not that easy to adjust. So far on this thread, CEV people have been accused of being selfish, hiding behind the CEV ‘label’ and generally making our lot out to be worse than it is. For myself I’m still being urged to shield by my consultant, at least until we see how things go once all restrictions are lifted, and I’m still getting emails from NHS England reminding me that it’s not over and I’m still at risk. I’m sure there are many more people experiencing the same thing. A lot of shit has been thrown on this thread. A bit of kindness wouldn’t go amiss. And just in case anyone’s interested I’m not planning a holiday of any kind, any time soon.

What a shame you won’t be around to explain why

Funny that but becoming a trend ;

treeflowercat · 02/02/2022 20:41

@Tealightsandd

Simple and easy infection control measures like masks, vaccines, and good ventilation, are what genuinely enable us to 'live with' (including opening up society and keeping the economy running) a still new and evolving disease that kills and disables many.

Lots of places in Europe have had stricter measures than the masks, vaccines and ventilation, and yet their rates have been higher than ours (per head of population)!

Tealightsandd · 02/02/2022 20:43

By Easter it’ll likely be fewer still.

How? Deaths are steadily rising. And the final tiny bit of mitigations are about to be removed (in England). The only way is up, sadly.

And there will very likely be new potentially more dangerous strains. Unless you know better than the world's experts including the WHO?

Right. Definitely must log off now!
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

And lots (most) have fared better than us.

Also I've said on other threads. We should lose the western centric lens. Look East (and I don't mean just China).

Yes good bye until the next negative post. Getting trickier to peddle the fear these days though…
BuickMcKane · 02/02/2022 20:47

@Tealightsandd are you ok dear? Deaths aren't steadily rising. They've FALLEN by 1.4%

treeflowercat · 02/02/2022 20:47

@Tealightsandd

read on another thread cases won’t be reported soon (Easter iirc)

Yep. Just in time for when they rise. Already at 534 on just one day. By Easter - with the last remaining mitigations gone - the deaths will be even higher.

Not reporting mass death (hmmmm, and people castigate the CCP?) won't change what's actually happening.

And again. Long Covid.

The Government won't be burying the figures, just not giving daily updates to obsess over.... which arguably will be a good thing as we won't having people cherry-picking particularly high or low figures on a particular day to make whatever point they're trying to make.

The adjustment yesterday and the associated inclusion of associated deaths is very likely to be the cause of today's high number (though happy to be corrected if wrong).

Ridiculeisnothingtobescaredof · 02/02/2022 20:49

I lost £500 of wages due to having to isolate, i can't afford to do that again

Tealightsandd · 02/02/2022 20:55

An ok one final post.

We can’t afford any more lockdowns or self isolating

I emphasise mitigations. Quite the opposite of bad for the economy. They are, in fact, economy boosting.

Just as we have seat belts, child seats, and speeding limits to live with cars. Masks, vaccines, and good ventilation (including HEPA filters in schools, hospitals, etc) are how to genuinely live with SARS-COV-2.

Mitigations protect the economy as much as they do individual lives and health

What really will be very damaging on both a personal level and to the country as a whole will be a significant proportion of the working age population disabled with Long Covid.

Major health and national economy implications.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/02/2022 20:58

It's like a broken record.

No, most European countries haven't fared better than us at all during this Omicron wave. Few have.

And I'd be interested to know which Asian countries are doing well too, because they really don't seem to be!

You might be waiting a while for that, I fear.

Theluggage15 · 02/02/2022 21:27

Bloody hell, just been reading through this thread and the absolutely bonkers stuff from know it all but completely wrong tealight, don’t know how people have the patience with this nonsense.

It’s great omicron is milder and can’t wait for the isolation stuff to end. I actually don’t know anyone in real life who’s bothered by covid anymore. Weird reading 2020 type statements on here!

TheKeatingFive · 02/02/2022 21:32

Look East

You're being too earth centric. Look to the moon. No covid there. If only we could all be more like the moon.

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 02/02/2022 21:38

@Tealightsandd I too would be interested to know how the impacts of long covid are being planned for.

2X4B523P · 02/02/2022 21:41

@Tealightsandd

In what way has omicron been WORSE than predicted? Please enlighten us. Sage were predicting 6k deaths a day by mid January if we didn’t lockdown over Christmas, has that happened?

On a side note, sorry to disappoint but we are a week since dropping the mask mandate and figures are still dropping.

Theunamedcat · 02/02/2022 21:44

I'm concerned about reinfections ds 1 is coming out of his third go around with covid ds 2 has just started his third go around with covid and we initially thought it wasn't effecting him at all he fell asleep around 9pm which is very unusual for him

BuickMcKane · 02/02/2022 21:47

@2X4B523P you're wasting your time on Tea. Quick to quote the data but carefully ignoring the part that says cases are FALLING. Alway the comparisons to seat belts, always with the mitigations and something about hepa filters blah blah blah.

ChristmasCurry · 02/02/2022 21:48

@Tealightsandd

Full of crap as always !

I don’t know either re worse

A new tactic I suppose say something outlandish and unsubstantiated and then go

Indeed but when I see such nonsense I feel as many people as possible need to counter.

Go west!
