Mine is insomnia. I am so very tired (as expected) but I can't sleep.

What other delights have people had?

dephlogisticated · 08/04/2022 20:28

Purple toes, smelling random things including smoke!

Legsout · 08/04/2022 20:55

Insomnia
Crying at anything
Sharp pain in one part of my head like I was being poked with a knitting needle
Stabbing pains in calves
Itchy lungs
Teeth throbbing
Huge farts - seriously wondered where they were coming from.

Spearpeas · 08/04/2022 21:06

I have read the entire thread looking for an excruciating sore throat.

I am on Day 16 since testing positive, but started to test negative after 5 days.

I rang 111 this morning and have been prescribed penicillin for Strep throat, but surely this is connected to Covid? Being run down, maybe? I woke up with such an excess of mucus in my nose and throat that I thought I was suffocating.

Has anyone else had Strep follow Covid?

ImInACage · 08/04/2022 23:27

Mine started with what we thought was chicken pox. If I hadn't tested positive I'd have sworn blind that was what it was. Other than that, the usual cold symptoms, breathlessness and crushing tiredness. None of this is helped by the fact that DC now has a sickness bug, he's negative, so it's not covid. I could honestly cry, I'm that exhausted.

3kidsareenough · 10/04/2022 18:40

Tested positive on Friday,

Thursday night I felt really cold (like it was on the inside of me!) and had a thumping headache took lemsip and went to bed wakened about 4am feeling terrible my throat was so sore like I was swallowing shards of glass so went downstairs and did a test and it came up positive straight away. Dd3 tested positive last week and had no symptoms whatsoever.

From Friday on my symptoms have been:

Hacking cough with so much mucous, & a completely blocked nose (feels like sinus infection)
Sore head which went from front to now just the back of my head aching when I move it but will sometimes be at the front again
Sore joints (esp fingers & knees)
Sick stomach
Dizzy
Bursts of energy with pure exhaustion (literally all I did was walk around my room and I had to lie down again)
Weird shooting pains in the middle of my chest & back where lungs are (which I take is from all the coughing I'm doing)
The sore throat has gone since this morning
Insomnia but I feel so tired I just want a good full sleep but when I do I dream like mad which wakens me up

I can't believe I feel this bad - I really thought it would nothing but there you go

Bramblecrumble21 · 10/04/2022 19:02

I'm on day one and also have lower back pain. I am in my first trimester so concerned that it's the beggining of a miscarriage so glad to read it's apparently a common covid symptom at the moment

LittleEsme · 10/04/2022 21:26

Day 10 for me and hopefully the last day of getting a positive line on the LFT's.

I've had a catalogue of symptoms but my very first symptoms were nausea and dizziness. Loads more but didn't expect to have nosebleeds, vivid dreams, sleep like a narcoleptic, diarrhoea, hallucinations (visual and auditory) and the last symptoms which is clinging on is vertigo. Oh, and the absolutely delightful smell of cigarette smoke for the last 7 days .

Romeiswheretheheartis · 10/04/2022 22:12

Severe lower back spasms since day 11, now on day 18 and still agonising. Worse when lying down, so I'm exhausted as I can't sleep.

Bramblecrumble21 · 11/04/2022 06:35

I smelt cigarette smoke but I was in the garden so presumed it was a neighbour

AmIbeingTreasonable · 11/04/2022 06:40

@nevergoesaway

This is such an interesting thread!

I’ve had covid a couple of times - (maybe 3 but no tests) and have had a mixture of these things, but each time has been a different experience:

Weird stomach cramps
Feeling extremely high and dazed
Dry sandpaper mouth and throat
Ulcers at the back of my tongue
Sore skin, can’t bear water on it
Odd chemical smells
Blood in nose
Severe pains in back of head
Bursts of energy mixed with feeling like I can barely keep my eyes open
Shooting pains in one ear
Period pains even though I wasn’t due on for 3 weeks - never normally get them at that time
Hot cheeks and hot ears but no fever

I’ve never had these symptoms during a regular cold/flu bug before, it really is a weird virus!

@nevergoesaway Genuine question, how did you know it was covid without a test?
baroqueandblue · 11/04/2022 08:28

@AmIbeingTreasonable

I understood nevergoesaway's post as meaning she had positive results for 2 cases of covid but a possible 3rd case (based on her experience of 2 bouts she had tests for) wasn't technically confirmed.

LittleEsme · 14/04/2022 09:47

Quick question because I'm feeling so miserable with this:

I've had my first negative LFT on Monday after being our of action with covid for nearly 2 weeks. I've taken it easy this week (off for Easter luckily) but still feeling rough.

I've never 'felt' a virus in me before - I feel different, slightly wired and fuzzy with a constant high pitched ringing in my ears. I'm quite congested and nasally but I can cope with that. I had vertigo with covid and it hasn't left me at all. I feel like the world is constantly tilting to the right. Always to the right. When I'm in bed and sitting and walking. It's pretty unbearable and debilitating to be honest. I'm usually full of beans and busy, but I'm reduced to just pottering around. Even preparing a simple meal leaves me wrecked.

I know I'm not alone in feeling like this. Do I pursue this with a GP or should I give it more time? At this rate, I cannot imagine coping with my job and feeling like this.

Lovemusic33 · 14/04/2022 11:53

Day 5 here and have only just got the high temperature, thought I had avoided it and assumed I would feel better today, not worse.

Weird symptoms…
Pain in my wrists and hands.
Period type pains in tummy and lower back.
Insomnia (people keep telling me they slept for days, I haven’t slept much at all).

I seem to still have my taste, smell and appetite which is a pain because I have probably gained any weight I lost last week.

Chewbecca · 14/04/2022 18:47

My face and upper jaw hurt, as well as my streaming cold, hacking cough and sore throat.

Jules912 · 14/04/2022 19:23

@LittleEsme I found I gradually got better over 4 weeks, I'm now nearly 5 weeks post positive test and feel ok apart from slight back ache and my fitness being shot to pieces.

Perfectlystill · 19/04/2022 22:05

@Ineedsomeluck2022

Anyone else got brain fog when recovering? My cough has just about gone now but every day I feel groggy and fuzzy. It's hard to describe, it's almost like being hungover. Drinking coffee makes no difference to my alertness. I'm sleeping better at night now I'm recovered but i still napped for 3 hours this evening and feel no better. I'm not physically tired at all.
Yes to the brain fog - it's hard at work trying to talk to colleagues about complicated things.

I have had hip and wrist pain. And endless cystitis. As well as crippling exhaustion and tightness of chest.

I'm 4.5 weeks in.

LittleEsme · 21/04/2022 20:01

Groggy and fuzzy is a good way of describing it. I usually get up at 6am most mornings without issue but I'm finding it difficult to stir before 8:30. Hungover is a good description.

Still got vertigoConfused

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 21/04/2022 20:50

I'm on day 5 and today the tiredness has really ramped up a notch, I feel like I've not slept for a week.

My weird symptom is a really bloated belly, it's bloated out from below my ribs! I've felt bloated before but this feels extreme.

I've had most of the other symptoms that have come up a lot on this thread, back ache, things smelling and tasting weird, sore throat, dry eyes etc it really is the virus that keeps on giving isn't it Hmm

bluehaze · 21/04/2022 21:01

I’m on Day 2 after testing positive but Day 7 from first symptoms. I’m really hoping that it will be short lived but it sounds as though that’s not happening. Has anyone got through it quickly? The prospect of it getting worse really worries me.
Though I am really pleased to read about the teeth ache/this has been baffling me. It’s such weird pain.

Finallygotme · 21/04/2022 21:10

Sad to hear so many are suffering, it isn't easy.

I've had what the doc thinks is a relapse, just over two months after getting it. I have been quite unwell although not hospitalised. At my worst I couldn't even go on my phone i felt so weak. Whilst feeling better now my breathing hasn't recovered. Am being followed up by the doctor who is the most attentive and concerned I've ever seen him to be.

Glad you’ve got some medical support now. Is there anything that can help?

Treaclepie19 · 22/04/2022 20:59

FloatyBoaty · 28/01/2022 23:05

Back and kidney pain
Covid tongue (give it a Google!)
Insomnia
Sore eyes
No appetite
Can only really taste garlic and oranges properly, after much experimentation

DS had “wobbly legs” and a “super heavy head”- as did my friends son.

How long did your covid tongue last? It's driving me mad 😅

Finallygotme · 22/04/2022 21:46

bluehaze · 21/04/2022 23:03

Thank you, that was kind to say. I have been issued with a nebuliser and inhalers will see how it goes. Can't decide if I'm pleased or scared by the docs interest.

Haven't read the whole thread some of these are familiar (sore throat, fatigue) but I was also really horny! Possibly just me then.

Robinni · 23/04/2022 03:27

Insomnia (hi to all of you still awake)

Crushing tiredness/exhaustion (like stand for 10 mins and need to rest for an hour)

Nausea/loss of appetite

Dizzy

Sore joints/muscles

thankfully the cough, sore throat, stuffy nose are virtually gone now.

but man I am tired
