Tell me your weird covid symptoms

Mine is insomnia. I am so very tired (as expected) but I can't sleep.

What other delights have people had?

Not sure if weird but Dp had nose bleeds, his symptoms were very mild during isolation, barely ill at all and was out Gardening, painting the house etc

but was left with a very bizarre side effect which lasted about a month after covid - he had erectile issues and loss of sensation in that area (sorry TMI). It had to be covid, never had any issues prior and lasted for about a month after. Back to normal now though!

Yep User both those pass the test as weird!

One dc has been having stabbing hip and back pain, so it is helpful to see others having this.

My elbows hurt! I had some back and joint pain but my elbows were just in agony. I broke one elbow about five years ago and it is painful sometimes when it’s cold and this was the same kind of pain but worse and in both elbows.

Another eye one - three of us (out of four) have red itchy eyes but today I was driving at about 4.30pm and it wasn't dark but car headlights were on and I couldn't deal with the bright lights! Was so glad to get home. I've got long covid (from 2020). Am testing negative but still have palpitations, runny nose, spots on scalp and tiredness.

A constant weird stinging sensation up the back of my nose, like if you accidentally sniff water whilst swimming. Had it for about a week and it drove me nuts!!

Head to toe hives including soles of my feet and palms of my hands - started a good week or before testing +ve and lasted about a month altogether, flared up several times a day and was awful. I was taking 2 x daily antihistamines every day to soothe it. This was in October so no idea what variant it might have been.

Is anyone else coughing? I have the classic dry continuous cough and it's driving me nuts. I didn't think this was meant to be a symptom of omicron 🤷‍♀️ I thought I had covid right back in March 2020 when you couldn't get a test and had exactly the same dry cough and tight chest back then that I have now.

Well insomnia is a joy.

I am on day 5 and it's generally followed my usual cold progression (started with throat/headache then snotty nose now cough) but I cannot sleep for more than 4 hours, every joint aches, especially in my fingers and shoulders.

Sore eyes. I am very farty and I am weeing a lot.

Ironically I really fancy sex which is baffling given I can barely move I'm so tired. I suggested this to dh with the enticing offer that I could just lie there whilst he did it but shockingly he's suggested the constant presence of the also isolating children would make this difficult and maybe I should just rest.

Day 2-10. Painful upper back and shoulder aches. Day11 - no back ache but first the index finger on my right hand has started aching round the joints. Then this passes off a bit and my middle finger starts aching instead, feels kind of numb in top joint. My whole right hand and wrist feels as if it’s hot and swollen, my left hand completely normal. It’s what I imagine arthritis would feel like.

Day 11 for me and I now have the continuous cough. Also found if I sit still it feels like my joints have calcified . Exhausted but still not sleeping well. Meant to be back at work

Anyone else got brain fog when recovering? My cough has just about gone now but every day I feel groggy and fuzzy. It's hard to describe, it's almost like being hungover. Drinking coffee makes no difference to my alertness. I'm sleeping better at night now I'm recovered but i still napped for 3 hours this evening and feel no better. I'm not physically tired at all.

No, but since recovering I've had a burning sensation in my throat and on my tongue. I googled it and it said it can be as a result of a virus, so I'm assuming it's Covid-related.

This is such an interesting thread!

I’ve had covid a couple of times - (maybe 3 but no tests) and have had a mixture of these things, but each time has been a different experience:

Weird stomach cramps
Feeling extremely high and dazed
Dry sandpaper mouth and throat
Ulcers at the back of my tongue
Sore skin, can’t bear water on it
Odd chemical smells
Blood in nose
Severe pains in back of head
Bursts of energy mixed with feeling like I can barely keep my eyes open
Shooting pains in one ear
Period pains even though I wasn’t due on for 3 weeks - never normally get them at that time
Hot cheeks and hot ears but no fever

I’ve never had these symptoms during a regular cold/flu bug before, it really is a weird virus!

Burping! I had trapped wind and burping and I’m a farter, not a burper. Chest pain that was related to reflux and trapped wind.

Also had insomnia.

Also had dry burning nose.

And a random panic attack!

Terrible gas. Never known anything like it.
Tooth pain in all the teeth
Pins and needles (before my classic symptoms started)
Anxiety / dizziness (also before the classics came along!)
Really vivid dreams. The type you remember for ages.
Just before I tested I had a big pain in my lower back like labour pain which then just disappeared

What is this virus doing to me!

I’ve been surprised how fast each thing progresses, the sore throat has nearly gone so it swiftly moved on to my nose streaming. Woke with a heavy chest but that then changed into a constant tickly cough. I wonder what tomorrow will bring 🥵
