Anyone else done now?

Know I'll get slated but I'm so past caring.

Anyone else just completely done with it now? Ran out of LFTs ages ago and I'll never do another again, wouldn't even go for a PCR now with symptoms tbh. I'd stay in until I felt better like I do with everything else and then crack on.

The only reason I wear masks in shops is because of people moaning if you don't. As soon as it's no longer required that'll be in the bin.

I actually took it really seriously the past two years and did everything we were supposed to. Triple jabbed etc etc... But I can't be arsed giving it anymore headspace now. I'm sick of hearing about it, sick of seeing it on the news, sick of people talking about it.

From today on I highly doubt I'll ever voluntarily think about Covid again, in a way that restricts anything I do anyway.

Masks, vaccine passes, good ventilation including HEPA filters. That is, if we want to 'live with it'

That ship has well and truly sailed. Time to adjust.

Tealightsandd · 21/01/2022 21:51

So much for the often talked about concern for mental health expressed by the anti mitigation crew btw.

I wouldn't advise telling the bereaved families of the 300+ a day being killed by Covid to 'just deal with it', nor the many newly disabled Long Covid sufferers.

Add in the extremely burnt out and still overwhelmed HCP.

But yes the UK will have to deal with (unnecessary) mass death and disability. Unlike other more moral and sensible countries.

FrankieBoyleSezLoveOneAnother · 21/01/2022 21:54

Nah. Call me back in 2024.

bluetongue · 21/01/2022 21:54

@Katieandthekids

I am 100% with you OP. I only wear a mask so I don't get abuse. I can't do it anymore. I know people are scared especially those who were on the shielding list but they have to realise they were at risk before of other bugs too we just didn't talk about it.
Sometimes I don’t wear a mask even if it’s mandated. I’ve had three vaccines but the goalposts still keep changing.

It’s time for those still at risk or scared to take their own personal precautions.

I don’t have children but feel so sorry for parents. Limited social interaction and only seeing masked faces is awful for children’s development and parents keeping otherwise healthy children out of school is a form of child abuse in my opinion. So many kids are going to end up with terrible health anxiety. To think some pre schools in the US mandate masks in daycare for 2 year olds Sad

Tealightsandd · 21/01/2022 21:54

History will judge.

Sparklingbrook · 21/01/2022 21:54

Covid has really impacted my mental health terribly (more than I want to go into on here), but I am genuinely starting to feel a bit better about things currently.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/01/2022 21:54

@Tealightsandd

Just because bad things are happening in this country, doesn't mean it has to be condoned.
OK. France has vaccine passports and stricter mask mandates than the UK. How are they faring with Covid cases?
Tealightsandd · 21/01/2022 21:55

Better than us. In terms of hospitalisations and deaths.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/01/2022 21:57

For now. Recent high cases over the past couple of days won't translate into deaths just yet. Either way, a quarter of a million cases a day suggest masks and passes aren't working that well at containing the spread.

Tealightsandd · 21/01/2022 21:59

That could be construed as rather racist Bluetongue (not to mention incredibly offensive to victims of genuine child abuse). If not racist, certainly very western centric.

So talking of concern for children. Does your 'concern' extend to those who are CV, or who have CV parents? Bereavement has a devastating effect on children - with sometimes extremely tragic consequences (as can be seen in the case I linked above).

Sparkling Flowers I’m glad things are feeling better

My ds tested positive on LFT Thurdsay. They are doing pcrs for positive LFT anymore. This is second time with covid and he is fine.

No more pcrs so we didnt register it. He will isolate as per rules but it's got no headspace.

It's like noro or chickenpox but without the being ill part. I have doing what ever outwardly I'm supposed to but it doesnt take up any headspace any more. Ds shared the bed with me last night and I went my day mixing as per the rules exactly as I did when he had it in August.

So, covered in covid after breathing his breath all night now, as in August that's all fine. So in my shoes. How terrified of covid would you be? Should I be scared shopping of covid when it's at home? Dh has to work. I have to parent my other kids and work.

Tealightsandd · 21/01/2022 22:03

Anyhow forget France (who are at least trying to mitigate). Lose the western centric focus and look East.

I'm off to enjoy the rest of my evening. 😷

Sparklingbrook · 21/01/2022 22:04

Thanks @MarshaBradyo. Onwards and upwards hopefully. When my CEV relative came out the other side with a little bit of help from the anti virals it seemed a real turning point for the whole family.

Indigokeys · 21/01/2022 22:04

I was in working in nurseries at the very height of the pandemic when deaths were awful

I was told I wasn’t allowed to wear a mask because it scared children…no one cared if I got ill.

Now if I dare enter the building without a mask, or put it on between eating lunch…its a huge problem and risk…

No one cared before!!! I don’t take LFTs as there no point! If my colleagues are positive then I’ll have it, if they aren’t then I won’t!

vinoandbrie · 21/01/2022 22:05

Totally agree OP

VeryMuchSo13 · 21/01/2022 22:06

@Lesperance

I would bet this doesn't get beyond a couple of pages as well. Why is it that the posts that say things like "I'm going to get flamed " are always really, really boring? I think it is because they are usually the millionth on any given subject and so people have seen that others have generated lots of responses, but by the time you get this type of post, the moment has past and it has been done. It's like the boring people who announce that they are soooo wacky or SUCH a rebel.
If it's so boring why are you here? 🤣🤣 You understand you don't have to reply right? Feel free not to.

They had 400k cases today and yesterday was 425k, yes their much stricter mask rules aren't really helping there.

Wow, so I’m racist now. That’s a new one.

So sorry for taking a concern for young people who have suffered so much for the last 2 years.

I still believe that any parent who is still not sending their healthy child to school or letting them interact with other children normally because they’ve drunk the ‘30% of Covid cases will develop long Covid’ kool aid is not doing their job as a parent. I’m the child of an overly anxious parent and know how damaging it can be.

KurtWilde · 21/01/2022 22:10

@bakewelltarty

I bet the OP is a bit miffed no one has come on to 'flame' her yet. I wonder what the general feeling would have been if covid had affected young people and children? I wonder if all the old and CEV would 'be done' with it now?
As my mum and gt aunt rightly said, they lived through polio and that affected all ages and it was very much a serious disease for children, and the world didn't close down for them so why should it now.
Justenuff · 21/01/2022 22:10

Yes done, like last year though. Only had first two jabs, NHS need to stop wasting their time reminding me to get a booster. Ain't happening. We're getting on with our lives now. Great to see lots, hundreds of people at my hobby yesterday maskless and smiles, gosh so good to see smiles and laughter!!

Sparklingbrook · 21/01/2022 22:11

I don't understand how what you posted could be seen as racist @bluetongue, I went back and read it again as I thought I had missed something. Confused

Justenuff · 21/01/2022 22:14

And particularly f*cking done with the constant running total number of Covid deaths when we are losing far far more people to cancer/heart disease etc and lots of those will be needless deaths that have happened and yet to happen BECAUSE of the sodding obsession with Covid. Really angry about that.
