@Chinzia

End of March sacking starts, 11 weeks away. if anyone is serious about them being a threat to patients then calls to remove them should be now not happily wait for over 2 months for this to happen. no one on this thread believes they are or they would be posting they need to be rid of now.
I think they are a threat to patients but I hope they will do the right thing. If not then sack 'em.
MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2022 18:21

Depressing view. Some hospitals will struggle more and people will go without midwives / consultants etc

Why are you so blasé about that?

MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2022 18:22

And given omicron can spread very easily with high vaccination (see Aus) what cost benefit are you seeing?

Chinzia · 09/01/2022 18:29

At least you are being true & honest with your opinion andanothernewone, I don’t agree tho, neither does the TUC & the Guardian are sweating buckets. mandates are worrying the left, it’s going to be working class cities who suffer from stretched services, pregnant women at risk, this cannot be allowed to happen.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 09/01/2022 18:30

It's a bloody good job the rest of us haven't copied his actions and avoided the vaccine. I think he's completely irresponsible giving his views and as to how does he benefit from this?

Well by apparently earning £250 for a half hour appointment at his 'Breathlessness clinic'. I wonder how many of his desperate patients will have long covid?

But it’s not just him, it’s thousands of NHS staff refusing, they can’t all be gaining these “‘benefits” you say he’s getting. He’s 1 man being focused on not the pregnant women who are going to be left without a maternity unit, we don’t know what City this is, NHS keeping that secret, it’s going to be a dangerous time for those mums to be.

Well if I need to see a doctor and the chances of him giving me covid are reduced that is definitely a benefit to me. Maybe he could treat people who agree with him and the rest of us can get treated by doctors who are safer.
MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2022 18:38

I’m protected anyway by three vaccines so yes I’ll have him and if it means not waiting hours or days then good.

I’ve been at Kings and know how busy it can be. The Labour ward shut to public in pre Covid times. Good luck to people waiting if more go.

Well more NHS staff have had the vaccine than haven't so you might be waiting alot longer to see an unvacinated doctor but enjoy the wait.

I agree, I think the mandate may cause carnage. I don't know what the answer is really because whilst I'm concerned about there being HCPs who don't believe in science out there treating patients according to science, making them leave could destroy the NHS.

But we're talking about this one doctor and his comments combined with his private business seem completely dodgy to me. There's been enough sleaze already in this pandemic.

MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2022 18:48

Eh where did I say they had to be unvaccinated Hmm since I’m pro vaccine and have had three U.K. hardly opposed

How odd to make that assumption.

I will be happy with either, if staff leave people will wait longer.

Some seem ok with that and think it’s worth it. I think it’s madness. I’ve seen Kings when busy it’s hard to get through to the next stage as it is. You will get more stuck waiting for a labour room as many of us did.

MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2022 18:48

I’m..

Fordian · 09/01/2022 19:00

@LethargicActress

He was asked a question and he answered it honestly. Good for him. I wonder how many people that think he’s an idiot would still be very grateful for his help if they were in need of a consultant anaesthetist. The NHS can’t afford to lose its staff over this. We need them, and if the vaccines are that important, then we should be protected enough by our own not to be too worried about being treated by unvaccinated staff in a clean, hygienic hospital.

Yes. Indeed.

Be careful what you wish for.

He’s not saying anything different from what I’ve heard NHS staff say on why they are refusing the vaccine, pretty much the same. we test all the time, already had it, antibody tests, strong immunity. After having kept the NHS going through this I can’t dismiss what they are saying coz 1 bloke has a business off nhs books, a lot of women are going to be sacked, more mothers put at risk. this is mumsnet, we can highlight working class mums to be who are going to be given poor care because of this mandate. there’s no way they can keep a service running if they sack 40 midwives from it, head in the clouds if anyone believes they can.

Well you were commenting on shorter waiting times seeing the unvaccinated doctor, I mean if you support them shouldn't you be seeing them and letting those of us who want vaccinated doctors have them?

When I had my first baby in the 70s the labour rooms and wards were so busy that my baby and I were parked in a linen cupboard for several hours as there was nowhere else to put us so that isn't anything new.

ancientgran · 09/01/2022 19:59

Still getting the misinformed "he was asked a question."

MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2022 20:05

No thanks. I’ll take either you can wait for vaccinated if you want. I don’t care if you do that, up to you.

As for normal why would you want it to be worse Confused

Maybe more women can throw up crying as told not to push, as when I was there.
Great sounds worth it.

I hope people who want this get to answer to younger women on the wards who have fewer midwives as a result.

Turquoisesea · 09/01/2022 20:14

Whether you agree with this Drs comments or not, how anyone can think mandating the vaccine is a good idea is beyond me. There is an article in the Daily Fail (sorry!) stating that at the hospital he works at there are 1,000 as yet unvaccinated staff and the hospital are worried how they will cope if they leave! For all those saying “good, serves them right” let’s hope you or your family don’t need to use the NHS for the next few months after April!

ancientgran · 09/01/2022 20:14

If you want to support the movement to stop NHS having to have vaccinations I think you should get them and those of us who want the safer option should get it. Why should I or my vulnerable husband have to wait while you see a vaccinated doctor when you are in favour of the unvaccinated. Seems like wanting you cake and eating it.

I’ll see whoever’s available.

And it’ll be faster if staff aren’t sacked.

You might not like it but you will be waiting longer if this happens.

Does it say how many of the 1000 unvaccinated don't need to be vaccinated as they aren't patient facing?
RitaHaywort · 09/01/2022 20:16

NHS cannot afford to lose anymore staff and it's easy for granny upthread to hold the views she has, as she won't be directly affected by that. I wonder if people ask their GPs and nurses about their vaccination status now and refuse the care if they happen to be unvaccinated?

ancientgran · 09/01/2022 20:18

You might not like it but you will be waiting longer if this happens. I'd rather be safe thanks but I think it is unfair for people to support non vaccination and then want to see the safer option.

Well obviously people in my age group never need to use the NHS because it is a well known fact that the older you are the healthier you are.

Try waiting longer with a heart attack or stroke, you will definitely be safer.
