No it doesnt sound good @Tealightsandd but what are the choices here of actually efficiently dealing with it because at the moment only China are suppressing it and to be honest that sounds worse than here.

Even Australia is hitting 60-70k cases a day now

As always....as always. Feck all to do with Covid.

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2022 17:01

It doesn’t mean much anymore as I doubt restrictions will increase.

Covidworries · 07/01/2022 17:02

Keep ypur head in the sand if it maked you happy. Just hope you dint need any medical care for anything

The thing is, wouldn't restrictions now be pointless thank fuck? They would have had to be implemented before new year to have any effect, from what I read.
MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2022 17:03

Lumos pretty much yes, I saw the same.

Yeah even Australia. And like most other places in the world except for England, they're taking action to mitigate.

Like Welsh First Minister, Mark Drakeford, says, England is an outlier. He's absolutely right. Almost nowhere else is pursuing the eugenics lite Let The Bodies Pile up policy.

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2022 17:06

Oh not the 'let the bodies pile up' thing again. I'll have to get my MN Covid Bingo card out, have we had 'let it rip' yet? Hmm

Whatayear81 · 07/01/2022 17:07

* Almost nowhere else is pursuing the eugenics lite Let The Bodies Pile up policy.*

More like the sniffles and feeling grotty for a few days OR show no symptoms at all “pile up”

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2022 17:07

France has over 300k doesn’t it? And other European countries rising

Aus is going up very fast

Not sure Drakeford has looked at case numbers very well

Waiting for….

“Selfish”

They genuinely make me all smile though!

Shock horror, that little dictator Drakeford who taped up supermarket aisles in the name of 'safety' is criticising the route England have chosen. He and wee jimmy in Scotland have been doing this throughout the pandemic. Made such a difference, hasn't it? Hmm

Oh and btw all the hysteria about 'eugenics lite' is disgusting.

littlepeas · 07/01/2022 17:11

I do not care. Someone brought their lateral flow test to work to prove it was negative today. I really couldn’t have cared less. I wouldn’t have even cared if they had it and coughed right in my face - I cannot summon the energy to give even the tiniest crap.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 07/01/2022 17:12

I thought the Australian approach had taken an about-turn recently, and they've taken the decision to let omicron run because the country is now so highly vaccinated? PM Scott Morrison was on about this recently.

Tealightsandd · 07/01/2022 17:16

Not the Let The Bodies Pile up again. Yes agreed!

Now can someone please tell that to Boris.

It's a shame. He wants to be like Churchill yet hasn't the guts to stand up to his back benchers - who want him out regardless of how much he tries to appease them. His idol, Churchill, on the other hand stood strong and almost alone in the commons at one point (receiving ridicule and insults) when he spoke out against the folly, danger, and futility of appeasement.

Boris should realise that the knives out for him won't now go back. He might as well find some dignify and self respect and go out sticking two fingers up to the 'rebels'. Do what's right for the country and if that means having help from Labour to do that, so be it. It's a time of national crisis and country should come before politics.

NSW is looking at reintroducing some restrictions.

And of course Australia, like most other countries in the world except for England, never got rid of mitigations.

What have they got there, but not here?

Tealightsandd · 07/01/2022 17:20

Men named Mark must make good leaders. Mark Drakeford in Wales, and an exemplary example of What To Do In A Pandemic - WA's Mark McGowan.

He’s probably feeling like he has to justify with hyperbole. Since numbers haven’t been much better.
Quartz2208 · 07/01/2022 17:21

But the question is are they working @Tealightsandd Netherlands is under a harsh lockdown and cases are now rising again

London looks to have peaked as well

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2022 17:21

I meant it being posted on MN the whole time. As if posters are the first to coin the phrase. Hmm

Roselilly36 · 07/01/2022 17:21

@itwasntaparty

I'm in the I don't give a fuck anymore zone
100% agree, a few months ago my DS 20 said mum, I don’t want to be kept “safe” anymore! I totally get it, we need to get on with our lives.

Is Mark Drakeford considered to be a good leader?

I for one am fucking glad I live in England whilst this insanity is going on.
