There’s now a completely new thread with that question. Confused Just a question but no opinion?

PrincessNutNuts · 08/01/2022 15:08

@LadyGAgain

There's a whole thread on the topic now:

https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4447680-vaccines-and-omicron-are-we-better-or-worse-off-than-last-january?msgid=

I was politely waiting for Quartz to answer it first.

It's not really done to ask a question and then jump in with "Well I think..." is it?

@PrincessNutNuts as I stated on the other thread I do not think it is helpful for the discussion to be taken to another thread and so much directed at me. I have reported and hidden the other thread and think it is best if I take myself off from this one as well.

MarshmallowFondant · 08/01/2022 16:31

Totally out of order.

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 16:32

The other thread is being taken down by MNHQ now.

MarshmallowFondant · 08/01/2022 16:34

This one should be too. Victimisation of @Quartz2208 is not on.

It's not about 'jumping in'. You've been asked several times what your opinion is but you've just obfuscated and posted some graph you just happened to have in storage. And not just on this thread either.

It's a very dishonest and disingenuous approach Carrie. If others can give their opinion, why can't you? You did start the thread after all.

Whatayear81 · 08/01/2022 19:24

@PrincessNutNuts

I’ve had a nose at your past threads
The amount you’ve posted on covid is astonishing… it’s likes it’s an obsession
You are married, have children… you must constantly be furious tapping out covid related posts on mumsnet!

Tealightsandd · 08/01/2022 19:37

You can say the same equally for posters on the other side of the argument to Princess including several on this thread (and of course, there will also be name changers). Which is an issue, why?

You'll find the same thing on other topics. Depending on poster's area of interest or concern.

It doesn't take long to type a few posts out on a topic of interest. Particularly on a phone, it's not hard to multi-task.

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 19:51

I think typing a few posts about a topic you find interesting is sort of understandable if you were joining in, engaging and getting involved. But just posting anything and everything with no explanation of why you're asking, or posting a particular graph etc is a bit worrying. Especially if you are concerned.

Whatayear81 · 08/01/2022 20:12

And unrelentingly negative about the situation

That’s just… bleak

Tealightsandd · 08/01/2022 20:35

Well 100s a week being killed and many more disabled - lots unnecessarily due to lack of mitigations is...kind of... bleak.

I mean, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It's just that how we react (and proact) now determines to a fair extent how long and difficult it will be.

But eventually there will be less bleakness. We do have positive news amongst the bad.

Vaccines are making a difference, particularly with boosters. We have new treatments albeit currently in very short supply. But further down the line we'll have a wider availability. And we'll (hopefully) have more of the rest of the world vaccinated, and improved knowledge and understanding of this still new disease.

For the meantime we simply need to take some simple basic infection control measures. We do need to keep the economy going as best we can and we can't eliminate all risks - but we can take mitigations. Masks, vaccines including boosters, vaccine passes, good ventilation (HEPA filters and DIY corsi-rosenthal boxes).

On that not super bleak note, I'm off to enjoy my Saturday evening. Have a nice evening everyone.

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 20:37

I believe in less bleakness. And hopefully very soon everyone relentlessly posting gloom will have to find a new hobby. Smile

Certain people are quietly disappointed that they didn't get their beloved 'models' didn't turn out to be correct and they didn't get the lockdown they claimed not to want.

Bordois · 08/01/2022 21:12

The constant slagging of England (and UK where applicable) and refusal to acknowledge anything positive in comparison to these other countries is also very frustrating. In fact, the whole turning it into some kind of global league leaves a very bad taste.

notimagain · 08/01/2022 21:24

@Bordois..

There was plenty of Boosterism going on in Dec 20/Jan 21 and for a while thereafter as the various vaccination programmes started…

You are right, it wasn’t helpful then and it isn’t helpful now.
