I feel myself and family are the only people on earth that hasn't had Covid, everyone I know has had it!

OP posts:
Daisy95 · 31/12/2021 08:54

We haven't had it, me and my husband both work for the nhs & daughter in nursery. Neither of our parents have had it either. We are all just waiting to get it now, any symptom we're convinced we have it

Redcrayons · 31/12/2021 08:55

Not as far as I know.

rainbowandglitter · 31/12/2021 08:55

We haven't. Out of all my huge family only my dsd and niece have had it. No idea how the rest have avoided it, there are loads of us

Brakebackcyclebot · 31/12/2021 08:57

I haven't had it, nor has anyone in my immediate family other than DS2, who was asymptomatic. Picked up on a routine lat flow and PCR confirmed.

I do know lots of people outside my family who've had it but somehow we have avoided it. We're pretty healthy and fit so I think we have very strong immune systems!

Lifeisnteasy · 31/12/2021 08:57

Are some people just never going to get it? I haven’t taken any precautions that aren’t mandated. Pubs, bars, restaurants, packed public transport, hugging family & friends. Lived in a relatively large city with a high number of cases until a few months back. Haven’t caught it yet. Famous last words maybe…

CeeceeBloomingdale · 31/12/2021 08:58

DH and I haven't had it (to our knowledge) although our two children both had it separately.

Stretchandsnap · 31/12/2021 09:01

Me - DD2 had it before Christmas but none of the east of us had it, including my elderly mum and nephew who she spends lots of time with - I am just wondering when we will all get it…

TenoringBehind · 31/12/2021 09:03

Me. On a vaccine trial and heavily monitored (antibody tests etc) so know I haven’t had it.

Most of my friends and family haven’t had it either.

AuntieMarys · 31/12/2021 09:17

We haven't....in our 60s. Dh works in a massive place where social distancing has never existed, we go out to bars, restaurants etc at least twice a week, been to London regularly etc.
Haven't even had so much as a cold in 18 months.

secretllama · 31/12/2021 09:43

Me! My toddlers been in nursery since I went back to work in Feb and I've pretty much been living normally the whole time. (Weekends away on packed dance floors, always out for dinner, worked on site, or drinks at friends...)

lljkk · 31/12/2021 09:48

Me, DH, 4 DC haven't had it. 2 adult DC live away, residential settings where lots others had it, but not them. They were tested loads because of work, btw.

I slightly know 2 ppl in UK who have had it (they would recognise me if I were walking down the street). About ?4 other people I heard about but only barely met, have also had it. Is all for UK.

I 'know' maybe 4 people in USA who have it (is all).

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 31/12/2021 09:50

None of my family + extended family.

Fairunibutterfly · 31/12/2021 09:52

I haven’t, neither has my immediate family or my team and their families at work.

I’ve only heard of a few members of my extended family having it and I have a really big extended family. However I don’t talk to my extended family all the time so it’s possible some may have had it and I don’t know. Only know one person who went to hospital very briefly.

Vbree · 31/12/2021 09:54

I haven't, despite it ripping through the office before Christmas. DH hasn't either, neither has anyone in my immediate family as far as they are aware despite my mum and brother being essential workers and public facing through the whole pandemic.

Abraxan · 31/12/2021 09:57

Within my family most people haven't had it. Some have had antibody tests to see if they've had it asymptotically and don't have virus acquired antibodies, only vaccine acquired ones.

I had it last October.
Dh and 19y dd haven't.
Dd has been in close contact with it several times through me and her university and home friends, but has not yet caught it.

My parents and MIL haven't, neither has my sister, BIL, 8y nephew, brother or his fiancé. One niece has had it but the other hasn't. Their mum got,it but my bil didnt.

With friends, friends inc intact with us when I got it didn't catch it then. One friend has since had it recently but his wife and two daughters didn't. Another friend's dd has it now but she, husband and teen dd haven't got it yet. Another set, wife caught it earlier this year but not husband. A few friend couples who neither have had it.

At school almost 80% of our staff have had covid, most last autumn term. One or two have had it this year. Nine have had it a second time as yet.

Scottishgirl85 · 31/12/2021 09:59

We haven't. Husband commutes on a busy train to London every day, his work in a hospital means he never worked from home. 2 young kids at school freely mixing as too young to social distance. We've followed rules but whenever socialising has been allowed we've done loads of it. Holidays, days out to busy places. No hand gel due to eczema etc.
Husband does pcr twice a week due to job.

Dottydozet · 31/12/2021 10:01

None of us (me, dh, 6 yo Ds has). DS is home educated so not exposed via school and we both WFH and are triple jabbed.

However, we have seen multiple family and friends who have later tested positive and never caught it. Saw mum on the 18th with what later transpired to be symptoms (she later tested positive) and never caught it (confirmed with both PCR and LFT), and my stepdad tested positive on the 27th, and we saw him indoors all that morning - just waiting to see if we catch it from him, but nothing yet.

languagelover96 · 31/12/2021 10:03

I have been relatively lucky. After two years of living in a pandemic I still have not caught the illness at all.

mizu · 31/12/2021 10:07

I haven't had it - or at least I don't think I have. Am a teacher. One of my DDs had it and was quite poorly and the rest of us in the household didn't. Regular testing here too.

dementedma · 31/12/2021 10:09

Only DS has had it out of the 5 of us. None of my friends or relatives have had it. We are scattered across the UK and several other countries.

hardtimeadjusting · 31/12/2021 10:11

Not yet. No previous infection confirmed
with antibody test.

Tumbleweed101 · 31/12/2021 10:14

Not yet. Which is strange really as my daughters had it last Christmas and I never caught it from them in same house. I work in a nursery so have had no way of social distancing at work. A colleague I’d been working closely with had it a few weeks ago and I never caught it then either. I have been jabbed but know this is no guarantee not to catch it.

BiBabbles · 31/12/2021 10:14

To our knowledge, in my household 5 out of 7 people haven't had it.

I tested negative for antibodies last Aprilish, obviously not sure on it now, but if the rest of us have had it, it was both very mild / asymptomatic and at a time we were active outside the home in a way that we weren't testing though my lodger tests regularly either way.

I don't really know for most other people, I know a couple who have had it but the rest it's just as easy that it's just not been discussed.

Cookerhood · 31/12/2021 10:20

One member of our family has had it. I know loads of people who have had it though. It's weird - the majority of the population haven't had it - something like 55 million haven't, which I find mind blowing.

Polkadotties · 31/12/2021 10:23

I haven’t had it. However, I do not do LFTs apart from the one I did when my OH was ill with Covid, it was negative.
