Are these clear positives? I just can’t believe it. My dd was shielding. We’ve been ultra careful with her. These are hers, we are now waiting on PCR

@Flossie44

It's such a worry when a ECV family member tests positive. My mum did yesterday and she has already had a call to discuss anti virals. All was tracked through her NHS number. As she doesn't have symptoms at the moment they are happy for her to stay at home and they will deliver the medication to her tomorrow. Everything has been very thorough. Might be worth calling your daughter's consultant to discuss?

Hope she is OK Flowers

Benjispruce5 · 30/12/2021 21:33

DH did 3 between yesterday and this morning. It’s natural to check as we’ve had inconclusive tests before and you worry if you did it correctly. Ours are from work so not taking anyone’s tests. Was hardly the point of OP’s thread .

RonaLisa · 30/12/2021 21:33

Oh FFS, why are people banging on about Vimto and taking tests apart and taking too many tests? I'm the very last person, ever, to be fussy about Covid - but even I would be anxious if I were the mum of a CEV, immuno-suppressed, shielding 13 yr old. Is someone here seriously trying to suggest that said child decided to tip Vimto on a testing stick because she fancied a day off school?

If so, they are truly weird.

OP, you have been very tolerant in the face of shitty comments from people with nothing better to do than snipe at a worried mother. They should be the ones apologising, not you. Is your DD vaccinated? I imagine she is, which should protect her to some degree. I hope you and she get through it unscathed. Flowers

MrsSantaClausitback · 30/12/2021 21:33

Please don’t explain why you’ve done
More than one test OP. Unless we have CEV children then we don’t know how you’re feeling right now. I’m hoping they’re wrong, but if not, I hope your daughter has a mild case. Please keep us posted. Thinking of you x

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 30/12/2021 21:35

Hope a PCR is negative and if it isn't then I hope she comes through it easily. Flowers
I agree with pp that you need to contact 111 to see if she's able to have the new treatment for immunosuppressed people. 119 may be able to get a priority test to you quickly if so.

nitsandwormsdodger · 30/12/2021 21:37

Not sure why you feel the need to apologise?
My daughter has serious lung condition and has been symptom free so hopefully yours will be too

I feel your pain we have done all we can to be careful I was scared and shocked too xxx

Crayzeefrog · 30/12/2021 21:37

I’ve got everything crossed that your DD is ok. Hopefully double vaccinated and omicron mean that if it is covid it will be mild and even let her love her life a little more than she has been when she gets better.

Budapestdreams · 30/12/2021 21:59

You did the right thing!

Any shortage of tests is down to the government, not you.

Your job is to look after your daughter, which you are doing.

I hope she doesn't get ill and I hope you still feel able to come on her for support 💐

HoneyFlowers · 30/12/2021 22:03

Not seen LFT that look like that before.

Flossie44 · 30/12/2021 22:07

HoneyFlowers -which is what’s confused me a lot.

Buildingthefuture · 30/12/2021 22:17

@Flossie44 absolutely no need to apologise for anything! Your life over the last two years must have been horrendous, the absolute stress of trying to keep a vulnerable child safe in the midst of a brand new pandemic must take an enormous toll. Do ignore the empathy devoid posters on here (you’ve enough on!) Hopefully the PCR will be negative and if it’s not, she will have mild symptoms only xx

Inastatus · 30/12/2021 22:30

@Flossie44 - ignore those who clearly have no empathy whatsoever! I wish your DD a very speedy recovery from a hopefully mild illness Flowers.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 30/12/2021 22:31

My heart weeps for you OP. My daughter is also immuno compromised so I too have lived in fear. I hope your DD is okay whatever the the results.

Darbs76 · 30/12/2021 22:34

Hope your daughter is OK OP. Ignore the heartless people posting nasty comments. Guess they are all feeling a bit bored of the holidays and feel like taking it out on a mum who is worried sick about her CEV young daughter having covid. Shame on you all.

Mulhollandmagoo · 30/12/2021 22:36

I cannot imagine the panic of your CEV child testing positive, it must be awful! Hoping she manages to get a mild case. Omicron is known to be milder, on top of being young and double vaxxed she's in a really good position! I'd contact her consultants tomorrow as Monday is a Bank Holiday, just to let them know what's going on

Flossie44 · 30/12/2021 22:40

Thank you to all the empathetic posters, especially those with CEV children. The worry, vulnerability and fear has been immense over the last two years. Hopefully the fact the vaccine is on board, the fact also that the variant is weaker too, will help the outcome. I’m sure a lot different to 18 months ago. However, having the shielding letters, warnings etc, only drill fear into us which grows in time

Itsalmostanaccessory · 30/12/2021 22:43

Can I just check where you put the droplets. Did you drop them into the little circle at the bottom of the tests? Or did you drop them onto the main rectangle strip?

It just looks like something has been poured onto the main strip. Which could explain why it looks funny.

Flossie44 · 30/12/2021 22:46

Little circle. We test twice a week and have done for months. Never had this before

OP posts:
Sapphiresparkle · 30/12/2021 22:47

@Flossie44 I can imagine how worried you must feel. It must have been unbelievably stressful trying to keep your DD safe over the past couple of years. As PPs have said, if it is Omicron it is a much milder illness, and your DD is double vaccinated which is a huge plus. Sending you and your family love and best wishes that your DD will only have mild symptoms.

Poolhater · 30/12/2021 22:47

OP, please ignore the comments about the tests. You’ve done what you need to do to be prepared for your daughter.

I hope she stays well with it and that her two vaccines see her in good stead.

Please do keep us updated with how she is.

Crunchysnap · 30/12/2021 22:51

Yes they look positive and she probably does have covid. But even though she is clinically vulnerable it is still very very unlikely that she will get even moderately unwell at her age. Plus, it is strongly suggesting that omicron is a lot milder than previous variants. Also, if these were taken over 2 days and she isn't very unwell it is not likely that she will be. Just lots of rest and cuddles of you are needed. :) And ignore the people complaining about taking 3 LFT, the majority of them would have done exactly the same in your situation.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 30/12/2021 22:56

As if some utter bellends were posting whining about not being able to get LFTs when the op is clearly worried about her CEV child! The entitlement and lack of brain function in some Mumsnetters is staggering.

I'm really sorry you're worried op, I'll keep everything crossed for you!

AgnesV · 30/12/2021 22:58

We had some tests that looked like that with the grey lines and blurred strips. They were the ones in green and white boxes.

We had no symptoms.

Did PCR. All negative. Could maybe be the same thing

Sinner10 · 30/12/2021 23:01

@GingerFoxInAT0phat

Look positive, but they are the messiest tests I’ve seen?!
I thought that. Weird.
HoneyFlowers · 30/12/2021 23:05

I haven't seen tests with the circles to drop the liquid into, they have all been square. Are these genuine tests that you picked up? Or maybe you live in a different part of the world to me. I pray for you that all will be okay.
