Are these clear positives? I just can’t believe it. My dd was shielding. We’ve been ultra careful with her. These are hers, we are now waiting on PCR

Has something been spilt on them? It looks like something has happened to them. That might influence the results. I wouldn't panic yet.

AgathaMystery · 30/12/2021 21:05

GrinGrin I stand corrected. Never seen anything like them. How a line can display on the wonk like that is quite baffling. Grin

Thank you to the lovely posters. I appreciate that. Yes it’s hugely worrying. We didn’t leave the house for 6 months initially. That was tough. Watching everyone carry on with precautions was hard for dd. Mentally and emotionally she’s like her peers. Health wise, she’s not. It’s shit. And isolating. It’s scary. And for nearly two years, we’ve wrapped her up in cotton wool, not mixed ourselves, lost ‘friends’ as we’ve not socialised, and generally remained in a bubble.
So yes…this has been a shock. And I’m still hoping that a lft will show its all wrong, and she’s negative.

I didn’t take the tests apart, as in dismantle. I tested her over the course of 24hrs while awaiting her PCR, and praying each lft was wrong

Please let us know how your daughter gets on OP.

Starfekk · 30/12/2021 21:07

Don't say you're sorry OP, some people on here are just nasty and spiteful. If I had a CEV child and one came up positive I would take several and not feel bad one iota about it. Hope she's okay.

herecomesthsun · 30/12/2021 21:07

OP, wishing you and your daughter all the very best.

Queenoftheashes · 30/12/2021 21:07

Wasting tests is the new going to the shop for a single cucumber in lockdown

I was going to say Easter egg but yep its pathetic isn't it, and so sad that people feel the need to take time out to post horrible comments to an OP who is understandably worried (and not I read the daily mail and wait for the daily stats worried, but has reasons to).
Newyearnewme2022 · 30/12/2021 21:10

@Flossie44 you need to ask about antivirals if the PCR comes back as positive, it might not be flagged on the system that she’s vulnerable because she’s under 16.

Garysmum · 30/12/2021 21:11

I am thinking of you. I am CV due to immune suppressant medication and the hospital said there haven't seen any difference between those on my medication and the gen pop with getting covid or fighting off covid.
I would be very nervous too but if it's any reassurance then I know a couple of people on my meds classed as CV who had mild covid symptoms

You have obviously also seen a lot of teenager ribena tests as well
WonderfulYou · 30/12/2021 21:12

So yes…this has been a shock. And I’m still hoping that a lft will show its all wrong, and she’s negative.

If she’s not ill with it then it will be good to get it as it creates more antibodies.
So don’t see it as a negative thing as that means along with her vaccinations she’ll be almost fully protected.

It’s very sad that she’s had to shield for so long.
Does she know anyone in a similar situation who she can talk to about it?

TheHoptimist · 30/12/2021 21:14

Sorry vimto not ribena

RisingSunn · 30/12/2021 21:17

OP please ignore the the ridiculous posters moaning about tests.

Hope your daughter is okay Flowers

Tokoloshe1900 · 30/12/2021 21:19

I’d take another test to be sure….

EnjoyingTheArmoire · 30/12/2021 21:19

Does she have any symptoms?

I have a child of a similar age who we've shielded throughout, and I can empathise with your shock and concern. It's been such an emotional drain trying to keep them safe and healthy throughout. The lengths that we've gone to, and the changes to our way of life are beyond the imagination of others not having this exerience, as can be evidenced by the reactions to any mere hint of suggestion of restrictions or lockdown!

Do you have a Consultant that you can call for advice, or a letter for arranging antivirals?

Fingers crossed that she is asymptomatic and it misses the rest of your family at least. Double vaccinations should help somewhat.

Best wishes, don't forget to look after yourself too Flowers

AgathaX · 30/12/2021 21:22

I hope she's ok. I'm also sorry that you've had to read so many insensitive and cruel comments on here.

VodselForDinner · 30/12/2021 21:22

Jesus fucking Christ, it’s like a Jessica Fletcher convention in here.

Hope your daughter is alright, OP.

Flossie44 · 30/12/2021 21:23

EnjoyingTheArmoire - thank you so much. You really show empathy. It has been an all consuming way of life. Trying to protect her has been huge. We have respite, and we’ve even stopped the nurses coming in case they carried it into our home. We are exhausted. I’m praying the tests are wrong or contaminated

blameitonthecaffeine · 30/12/2021 21:23

Really sorry to hear about your situation. I hope your daughter is ok.

The tests I have give a dark line, not a red/pink one. They're the old blue and white boxes that schools give out, not the flowflex ones.

herecomesthsun · 30/12/2021 21:29

I have an immunosuppressed son (though not as severely affected as some are, I think).

His tertiary level consultant has always emphasised that covid is very age-related and children are much less likely to get severely ill than adults, with the same health condition.

Of course, I don't know your situation, but I hope that your daughter has an easy time of it. Would it help to speak to her medical team tomorrow regarding your situation and concerns?

It would also be an idea to check perhaps regarding any medication changes they might suggest (apologies if you already have a plan in place about this)

rrhuth · 30/12/2021 21:30

I am sorry you are so worried for your DD - I hope the case is mild Flowers

GizmoIsSoFluffy · 30/12/2021 21:30

Try not to worry. My 13 year old has had this situation twice, both times PCR came back negative. 3 months apart. Don't know why, but she seems to Produce positive LFTs

roseblosssom · 30/12/2021 21:31

You don't have to apologise to anyone for using 3 tests op. I imagine it was a bit like how many women keep taking pregnancy tests because they can't actually believe it.

I hope she's okay.
